Oh yeah, but it's a good exhaustipated! What a funny little kid! He rearranged my lower kitchen cabinets so tomorrow I'll have to rearrange them again...

Poor little guy is coughing and coughing - doc thinks it's allergies, but we don't know to what yet. They're going to look into tubes in his ears. Arrrgh, but can't have have all these ear infections. Any ideas besides a humidifier of what might help him sleep without all that coughing?
@Janet H , my dil has had that issue with 2 of her four children, and I've emailed her to see what she has done beyond the usual cool mist humidifiers, baby Vicks on the feet, and elevated pillow placed under the sheet.

Will let you know as soon as she responds......she is very much into Essential Oils which have been an enormous help to her, but I'm sure you don't have those accessible right now but you may be interested in looking into them for the future....she swears by them!

David should obviously move to Florida, and Iffy should sniff the Northwest...:)
Been out there twice; beautiful part of our nation. BUT, I do prefer to get my vitamin D via ol' Sol!

Mebbe obvious to you, Mama, but it gets hot in Fla, and after near 40 years in the NW, nope, not on my agenda!

I'd rather be a sweater than wear one!

... and how much I like the result!

I'm sure everyone does. Know I do!

Yeah, loosen the gunk, don't suppress the cough.

Fevers and ........ are adaptive mechanisms that unless severe shouldn't be meddled with. And, no I never learned to spell diarea.

Yeh but, it's a dry heat.

Would that it was! Amazing how many homes here have grass... and water it. Years back, yeah, it was, but now..... not until you get out into the desert.

And on a lighter note...

Right there with you, Iffy! The more sunshine, the better I like it. I'd love to live closer to the water, too.

How is your Dad, David?

Well, for 94, pretty good!

Over the last year (not news to me, my brother keeps me pretty well updated, Dad dropped off line a couple years back as he didn't use it, and despite phones and snail mail, better to get the updates on his health from someone who won't sugar coat it!) he's had some gradual decline, but wound up getting a couple of stents last month and has recovered a bit. He'd been using a walker even in his apartment (progressive care facility), but is back to just a cane now. Funny how lack of blood flow slows you down! Longer treks the walker is still the way he motates, as falling is definitely NOT a good thing :) But darn, his blood pressure is better than mine! :w00t:

Still has all his wits, still does the NYT crosswords - in ink. (The trick there is to figure out a few crossing words before writing anything, so great for memory.)

But he's really just been biding his time since Mom passed, 5 years back. Not a death wish, just waiting for the time the Lord calls him to rejoin his wife.

A very, very small amount of whiskey in a bottle of milk or formula? Yes, seriously.
When I was very young, Mom kept a cough syrup that my Grandma made. She used an Irish whiskey and honey. It was my Mom's cureall syrup. I don't know the ratio, however, it must have been strong as the cough syrup was kept in the fridge and the honey never clouded. Another trick she used was putting Vick's Vapor Rub on the bottom of our feet followed with cotton socks to keep the Vick's from getting on the sheets.

He loves chasing me around the house and I love him doing it ... but I'm paying for it tonight.
lol I can't even imagine. I chase the puppydog around the house for a couple minutes, and I'm done in.

It's live.
well that explains that. It had looked like I could get it on demand, but no dice.

Poor guy. No fun feelin icky a lot. I always used vick's on my son's chest. He hated it, but it worked well to actually get rid of the congestion.

I'm off to bed, now. I won't be around much for the next two days; I have 20,000 things to do tomorrow and an appt at Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. I'm a little bit nervous about Tuesday, but am hopeful that this will be the right answer. Anyway, I didn't want anyone to think I'd disappeared :)

Good night, dear ones. Have a good sleep!
Definitely let us know! Been thinkin bout the 22nd (and prayin) every since the 9th (I think) I know original was the 11th lol And this from the girl who don't remember nuttin!

I just got results back from bw my PC did last week. Cholesterol & everything is really good. Drugs work for me.
Praying, DH!
yay!!!

i had the pleasure of spending last evening with a wonderful young girl, daughter of a friend who we were babysitting, 8 yrs old, and she gave me hope for humanity, very polite, respectful, sweet, and highly interested in learning. Helped my mood a bit.
awwwwww that's nice. Sorry folks are pushin yur buttons though! Not good to hold stuff in. Get it out somehow later at home. Beat the crap out of a pillow, or stand in yur livin room and scream like a banshee or whatever ya gotta do.

If you are on the front porch, you know I did a nice vape stand on my 3D printer last week.
Unfortunately, the project is done.
I know it was a good project because now I'm feeling a bit down. just cannot think of the next project to catch my attention...
when I feel that way after doing something, I know just how enjoyable it was and how much I like the result!
I'm bettin we could all come up with some ideas!! ;) You could print all the things we'd like to have, then we could live vicariously through you!

Good morning peeps. Just thought I should check in.:thumb:
glad ya did, but wish you'd chat more! Hope you're doing well.

that's amazing! I know whatchya mean. My dad was married many times, but his last wife was the one that woulda lasted forever. Kinda did even though it was only 5 years til she died. But after that he just lost a lot of will to keep on keepin on. Within 7 years he'd developed cancer and was gone. He was only 73 when he died and I was 25

@Janet H
Just heard from our dil, and she told me that when Cody(grandbaby) had fits of coughing during the night, she would give him an ice cold smoothie and that would relive the cough. Now, if the coughing was really bad, then she would give him plain ice water. This seemed to reduce the inflammation enough for a good night's sleep..
Now, a word of caution about Vicks......do not use the adult Vicks as that contains camphor....there is a Baby Rub Vicks which can be applied to feet (with socks)........OR, you can get some Eucalyptus oil....any health food store carries it and add a couple of drops to the humidifier. Not to be used on baby's skin, but IN the room.

I sure hope some of this helps with little Miles! It is upsetting to us to see our little tykes so uncomfortable.

That is so great! I wish I could get my Mom to be more active. She's going down & I know she could do better but she's stubborn.

The coughing may bother you, but so long as it is a wet cough, it helps him get the gunk out of his tubes.

It wasn't a wet cough until yesterday. Then his nose was running too. Yes, I agree, coughing is a way to get the gunk out. It seems that as soon as he gets congested in his head he also gets ear infections. That's why they're talking about the possibility of tubes. Yuck! Hate the thought of that.

Yeah, loosen the gunk, don't suppress the cough.

Fevers and ........ are adaptive mechanisms that unless severe shouldn't be meddled with. And, no I never learned to spell diarea.

Yep, unless his fever goes to 101 they leave it alone. Ha! I just finally got that spelling in my head recently!

I sure hope some of this helps with little Miles! It is upsetting to us to see our little tykes so uncomfortable.

A lot of times he refuses to drink anything. Last night though he did drink from a bottle. Hope DIL used juice or water and not milk though and he usually won't drink anything that's really cold. I thought that was strange, but I guess it's just a Miles quirk. She has used the Baby Rub Vicks on his feet. Forgot to ask if it helped or not.

I was wondering about the essential oils. Even if it's applied to the front spout of the humidifier so it's diffused with the mist. Wasn't sure what else could be used other than eucalyptus though.

Thank you both so much for the suggestions. Before they're old enough to tell you how they feel it's just a guessing game and I didn't know if there was something good that we hadn't thought of. Evidently the doc just told her there wasn't much she could do for him other than the humidifier and I just thought there must be something else. They even bought an air purifier to see if that would help, at least at night. They can't prop up one end of the mattress too much or he ends up in a heap at the bottom end. This too shall pass, but in the meantime it's hard to see the coughing wake him up and he cries because he just wants to sleep!

Prisoner of Zenda?

Yeah, that's the same as my MIL, who's 93. Since her open heart (aortal valve replacement) 3 years ago, she's pretty much refused to even walk far, and it's taking it's toll.... hence my solo trips down here, as Pat needs to stay with her mom. (She does live next door to us, so at least convenient.)
