That is awesome! Thank you, Bells! I so appreciate that you did this! There is so much light pollution for miles & miles around me even in this semi rural area, that I'd have to drive + 50 miles to get far enough away from it to see something like this. A total blackout is my best opportunity.After saying it was cold outside I went online to see what the temperature was. It was 46 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I chastised myself for being a wimp and put on a light jacket, which improved the outside conditions dramatically.
Then, I took a picture of the night sky using a 60 second exposure with my camera on a tripod.
Then, I used GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), which is a free program with thousands of different photo editing tools, none of which I know how to use, to try and produce a visible picture from the photo I had taken.
Here's what I came up with, using the blind squirrel method as outlined in the Hunt and Peck manual:
