I love it! Thank you so much for all the pics!
For those of you that are seriously interested in Linux, one of the easiest versions to install and use without needing any special knowledge is probably Linux Mint. Everything will just work from the start, or at least the last time I played with it. If you have someone that can help you with installation and any issues you might encounter, by all means use whatever distribution they are familiar with, but if you are on your own Mint seemed like one of the best. Just my :2c: Opinions may vary.
That's what my brother already has. It's just a matter of choosing the GUI (Cinnamon, Mate, or KDE).

Thanx, biggie. But she already picked up anudder wun. It was used heavily so she figgered it was about time anyway. They were a real bear to configger in da first place. There's an epson sitting in a box ready to hook up.
I love my Epson multi. All hooked up wirelessly and just hit print no matter where my computer is at and print and perfect scans. Way better then the HP. Now if I could just find a way to keep the old HP which has been recycled from trying to set itself up everytime I turn on my computer. I know its something in the registry but I'm not into trying to figure it out, just push cancel everytime.

Well the Epson is a workforce DS510 scanner. I have an workforce 800 multi as well but I find that a PITA to scan with. Either use it with software from the pc for wireless or you have to hook up a usb to just push a button on the machine itself. And of course, one page and one side at a time.

Hello from all of us.

Darn, I thought all the waving was supposed to be at the end of a flight video!!

This is my new computer. It came with Win 10. The link you gave me is for older versions. Win 10 doesn't give you a choice about automatic updates. The only choice is whether or not it warns you first before it reboots after the update.

While you can't NOT download the updates, you can tell Win10 when to install them. That part doesn't have to be automatic. So you can avoid unexpected reboots, anyway. And you can (and should!) tell it not to update 3rd party software and drivers. Get those from your software and hardware makers directly.

Not sure how directly making money is a concern with Win10 - it's free until June or July. But, by having (well, it's their hope!) one unified system for desktops, laptops, tablets and phones, I'm sure they're looking at long term cost savings.

They've always used freebies as a way to create a monopoly on the customer base. But, now they're harvesting lots of personal info that they have no right too. And, turning most of that stuff off does little good when they turn it back on at every update.

Yeah, with you on the privacy - and both of my systems that run 10 are locked down as much as possible. There are now several good and trusted programs you can dl and use free to re-lock if needed.

But OS upgrades - version upgrades, not patches - have never before been free.
