Good morning, all. :)

Well, Friday's "go yell at nurses fiasco" went well and was actually productive. The intent was to get a renewed pain med prescription and verify appointment rescheduling for today. After a mild bout of "runaround" and subsequent increased fervor at voicing displeasure, we met with the "Nurse Manager". End result: prescription was refilled, and instead of rescheduling the appointment, they worked her into the schedule Friday. So we got all of the paperwork and bloodwork done so that she can start the new chemo today. :) We were also given more options to use for contacts, in case this is ever a problem in the future. It was pretty much smooth sailing for the rest of the weekend.

Very happy to see that everyone has made it back from the Odyssey! Have thoroughly enjoyed all of the pictures and stories! :)
Did you find out why it took a face to face to accomplish any of this, when a phone call should have been sufficient? I'm so glad she has such a good advocate in her husband!

Yeah, apparently they got behind due to the floods on Monday. Then her doctor's P.A. has been out sick, so other nurses have been filling in for him. And, to top it all off, his scheduler has moved on... I feel for the doctor, but she still should have been taken care of. The nurse manager apologized and said something about "We only had 7 people here on Monday."... my response was... "Okay, but what about Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday? There is no reasonable excuse that someone couldn't have returned her call. It's a cryin' damn shame that I have to neglect my own job in order to come down here and make sure that your people do theirs." That's when she left and came back to tell us that they would just see her, since we were already there.

Yep, it is unfortunate that it was an issue this time, they are usually very good about not making you feel like a number there. I understand their excuses and accept their apologies... but I won't stand for her not being taken care of. I'm just happy that they made it right and that I didn't have to take today off as well. The sole reason for needing the bloodwork before she starts the chemo is so that they can use the results for research. She was already cleared to start, but they were hoping to learn something from it. Had they not gotten her in, she would have just started it and they'd have to wait for the next sucker... ;)

Kaez, Gald to here it all worked out. :D

Talk about sunburn (ok so maybe we weren't) I guess the burn on my feet and anckles was a little worse than I thought. At least I'm home now and Doree is taking care of me. She says she can feel the heat radiating of em and the burn happened last Friday. Been using Aloe Vera and hydrocortisone cream on em. Aloe helps it heal and the hydrocortisone cream suppresses the damn itch. Last night at bedtime I took a Benadryl cause it was itching bad. I know, itching means it's healing.

Drinking again ( gald? )

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

Best sunburn remedy in the world is taking a leaf from an aloe plant, slicing it open, and rubbing the inside portion of the leaf on the sunburn. Of course finding the aloe plant is the catch, and that aloe gel they sell helps but not as much as the real thing.

Oooooh, I was afraid of that when I saw you come out on the porch with glowing feet. It's good that you only fried your feet and not the rest of you too. Looks like you got some good advice to help you feel better. Poor Doree, now she's got to wait on you!!!

Well, I've gone beyond too tired to participate to downright brilliant bordering on idiot, so I thought I'd surprise Chey and try to transfer the videos of the Odyssey trip onto the laptop so she doesn't have to do it tomorrow...all I had was a couple of fuzzy pelicans...they weren't fuzzy but my videoing was...and then I discovered the video i did of my place around Christmas this past year...I'm going to play it ( somehow I figured out
I don't miss command lines even a little.

    +1

Yow! That itching doesn't have to do with regular sunburn. Not sure how to describe it. You can get plain sunburn & it's more spread out & covers a bigger area. We call it sun allergy. It's more localized & might only show up in one smaller area. Like the area was at just the right angle to pick up more of the intense rays & you get a different kind of sunburn just in that area. It turns into a rash & itches like crazy. Meds can cause it to happen, too. I'd rather burn & peel without the rash & itching. Doree is using the same things I use on it.

    .

Solarcaine is a really soothing and healing aerosol for sunburn. First hand experience here. When I was young I was sunburned from Memorial Day to Labor Day every summer.

Upon arriving home, a husband was met at the door by his sobbing wife.
Tearfully she explained, it’s the pharmacist. He insulted me terribly this morning on the phone. I had to call multiple times before he would even answer the phone.

Immediately, the husband drove downtown to confront the pharmacist and demand an apology.
Before he could say more than a word or two, the pharmacist told him, now, just a minute, listen to my side of it.

This morning the alarm failed to go off, so I was late getting up. I went without breakfast and hurried out to the car, just to realize that I’d locked the house with both house and car keys inside and had to break a window to get my keys.

Then, driving a little too fast, I got a speeding ticket. Later, when I was about three blocks from the store, I had a flat tire.
When I finally got to the store a bunch of people were waiting for me to open up. I got the store opened and started waiting on these people. All the time the darn phone was ringing off the hook. Then I had to break a roll of nickels against the cash register drawer to make change, and they spilled all over the floor.

I got down on my hands and knees to pick up the nickels and the phone was still ringing. When I came up I cracked my head on the open cash drawer, which made me stagger back against a showcase with a bunch of perfume bottles on it. Half of them hit the floor and broke.

Meanwhile, the phone was still ringing with no let up, and I finally got back to answer it.
    It was your wife....
She wanted to know how to use a rectal thermometer.

And believe me, mister, with God as my witness, all I did was tell her.

Your right about the aloe. We had aloe vera growing in the yard growing up. Don't have any growing here in VA though. Using 100% aloe but, don't really trust it. Seems to be working. :D
