I hope things get quiet for Geordi tomorrow so he can really shine!that was just plain WIERD!
Outdoor dog show, today we sat in the tent (thankfully we rented one since I did the show by myself last week with all the rain!) and the rain pounded and the wind howled - for about 20 minute spurts. Cleared up around noon, then the wind started. i am showing Geordi tomorrow - supposed to be highs in the high 40s and winds with 35mph gusts. The tents flap and the wind howls. I have been walking him around, but he is going through the 9 month "fear of situations" fear period (also known as hormones kicking in) so my solid, confident puppy is kind of a basket case. When he spooks we stop and practice a few tricks for treats, play a little game of tug (as much as he will) and work on attention (attention to me). Object is to distract him and do confidence building things, not fuss over him and teach him that he can do this. He will come out of it shortly, but tomorrow will be interesting. Will he let the judge examine him? Probably not, but I am planning on making our ring time a big game. People have gone from "he is soooo cute!!" to "Wow, he is stunning!", so I have hope! We will get through this!
Wish us luck! i will post results. Major broke (one of the entered girls is not showing), but a point or two would be nice! His sister has been showing - got both her "majors" and is now up to 11 points (need 15 total for championship, which includes 2 majors - wins over enough other dogs of the same sex or both to be worth 3 -5 points. In this area of the country, need 4 girls or 4 boys for a 3 point win). If the major hadn't been broken, she would probably have finished this one 10 day circuit!
those in the snow - stay warm and safe!!
