It frustrates me to no end to have to sit through 15, 20, 30+ minute vids of redundancy, repetitiveness (see what I did there? :D)
Jup, I see what you did there. That video is cool, the way it's a black-and-white outline view. First time I've ever seen the rba wicked through the cylinder holes with the cylinder in place and wick sticking out of the holes. I think I'll give that a try. Normally, I use significantly more wick than was used in that video but it only sticks up against the holes from the inside and doesn't stick out of the holes.

Also, since I'm going to be cutting it off anyway, I soak the end that I'm threading through the coil in joose before I twist it to a point.

WD-40 is the best.
REM oil is good too, probably nearly identical to WD-40. Does a great job on my vice grips and pliers when corrosion has made them recalcitrant, but both substances are toxic as all get out so I use them outside and leave the tool outside for at least a couple hours afterwards.

When the first commercial break started, I Tivoed the rest. At the time, I wasn't paying attention to the fact that it was 3 hours long so I'm extra glad that I went that route. I haven't watched it yet.

Who knew that Julianna Hough could sing? I'll go one better. Who knew who Julianna Hough is?
Anyone who watches Dancing with the Stars (Boogying with the Has Beens).

My morning appt. had to reschedule so he could take his wife to the doc, so I'm baaack.

umanbean, glad you liked it. here's one more for ya

A fine selection too, I listened to it four times before moving on

umanbean, sounds like my kind of Sunday morning. I do similar in the garage tinkering with the cars. But the smooth Jazz is going, the coffee is hot and the Pups are keeping me straight. :thumb:

Is that a V-dub in your avatar? Hard to tell, my eyes ain't that great anymore.

I have two 1970 VW Minivans... one has a good body but burns oil, one has a good engine and a mostly rotten body. Really need to get around to making one good one out of the two, then maybe use the other frame & transaxle to make a dune buggy. :D

My pleasure Umanbean, sharing is caring and we sure did that last night. Sure had fun and I'm right behind you this morning. I'm listening also. Just can't post pictures as yet. Have to figure that out. Make it a great day.

Thanks subway... yesterday was a great day - good weather, good food, good company later in the day.

To post pics, just make an account with a photo hosting website, upload photos (hint: do all your editing locally, THEN upload), and copy the photo URL.... but then there are several ways to get it to show up here. If the URL already has IMG tags, just paste it directly... if not, use the 'Image' button at the top of the 'reply' box (the one that looks like a mountain with the sun coming up over it), and paste it there. If ya get into it and need more help, just ask... there are plenty of folks here that know more about that than I.

See, we do give good advice! :);)

Most certainly!... that's what keeps me comin' back! ;)

Umanbean, I really like your Mod holder. Really don't like when you go to reach for one and they topple over. I use Vape Bands but that sure is more effective.

By now, I probably have a dozen or more of those 'mod holders'... one in most of the rooms of the house, one on the deck table, one on a workbench under the carport, two in my shop, and one in each vehicle - they fit perfectly in a cupholder.

For a while there, every trip to Home Depot/Lowes I'd throw one or two in with whatever else I was there to buy... the two pieces together cost less than $3.

REM oil is good too, probably nearly identical to WD-40. Does a great job on my vice grips and pliers when corrosion has made them recalcitrant, but both substances are toxic as all get out so I use them outside and leave the tool outside for at least a couple hours afterwards.

A lot of folks don't know this, so:
The problem I have with WD-40 is that, over time, it'll dry out and get gummy... Rem Oil not so. I fix and/or refurbish old firearms, for myself and others, and WD works great for cleaning away rust/dust/grime and powder residue, but for a final film of rust ......ant on the bluing, and for slicking up the action, it's Rem Oil for me.

WD40 is a solvent more than an oil. If you want to semi permanently lubricate something try Fluid Film. It sprays on thin and runny to penetrate then thickens a little to stay in place. Then wipe of any exposed sticky areas. Works great.
Now if your going to lube something exposed try silicone spray. Penetrates and dries clear and not sticky. The Teflon lubricates dry. I use it on door hinges and matches where I don't want to attract dirt. Stops the squeek so you can sneak. Definitely quiets the bedroom door hinges so I don't wake Doree when I come to bed late or get up in the middle of the night. Great for us can't sleepers.

That is a cool vid... and IMO that 3 minutes is about all that's really needed to 'splain most vaping-things. I wick that way, and, like you, soak the end so it twists better, then afterwards I lightly wet the wick inside and out and gently poke it back into the hole with a toothpick or small screwdriver -whatever's handy ATM... seems like that doesn't "choke" the part of the wick sticking through the hole.

Glad you liked it umanbean. They'll be more for sure. Music is one of the fruits of life.

Yes that is one of my V Dubs; I have two also that one 75' and a 73' both full custom AC, lowered and the rest of the goodies. I take them to shows but the Gold 75' I drive daily. Hey if you need parts or get stuck just drop a line. I'd be glad to assist; that is one of my Hobbies.
The 70 Buses are Split Window models and rare now a days.. Real nice to restore also they still use the old VW Upright engines. Or if you ever think of selling let me know please. Would Love to restore one of those.

Hey sounds good I really like when we get a break in the Winter weather. But not complaining I'll take whatever I'm allowed here.

Thanks for the Tip also because I wanted to post pictures the other night and couldn't figure it out.
Hope all went well with that Appt. today.
Make it a great day umanbean

Yeeeehaaaaa!!!

My Wet Willie "Drippin Wet" album just got here!... all the way from England!

Found one in "Used - Good condition" on Amazon.

And after a furtive first-glance, it looks almost immaculate!... esp. compared to my old used-and-abused one I bought 1973, which now has an edge crack and scratches galore.

Obviously it wouldn't fit in the mailbox, so the post-lady pulled up in the yard, blew the horn, and was holding it out the car window when I went out - and immediately knew what it was!

I almost hugged her, but she didn't look like that would be such a good idea. :p Probably wouldn't have appreciated it one little bit.

If you don't know, you can drag pictures stored on your computer directly into the reply box on ECF, with no need to do anything else except select whether you want the picture to appear as a thumbnail or full sized. It's the easiest way to put pictures in a post, IMO.

ECF will reduce the size if the pictures are too large, but allows quite a bit larger photos than they yousta.

Don't get me wrong WD40 is great for breaking it loose and cleaning the old gunk but you really should add a good lubricant afterwards.

Yeah, will break out that conductive lubricant for that one.
Everything I ever need to know about lubes and derustification, all in a few posts. I knew there was some reason I generally preferred REM oil to WD-40 but until now, didn't know what the reason was.

I have a big bottle of lightweight machine oil that I use for my electric shaver and electric hair clippers. It also works great on squeaky hinges.
