It wasn't a wet cough until yesterday. Then his nose was running too. Yes, I agree, coughing is a way to get the gunk out. It seems that as soon as he gets congested in his head he also gets ear infections. That's why they're talking about the possibility of tubes. Yuck! Hate the thought of that.

Yep, unless his fever goes to 101 they leave it alone. Ha! I just finally got that spelling in my head recently!

A lot of times he refuses to drink anything. Last night though he did drink from a bottle. Hope DIL used juice or water and not milk though and he usually won't drink anything that's really cold. I thought that was strange, but I guess it's just a Miles quirk. She has used the Baby Rub Vicks on his feet. Forgot to ask if it helped or not.

I was wondering about the essential oils. Even if it's applied to the front spout of the humidifier so it's diffused with the mist. Wasn't sure what else could be used other than eucalyptus though.

Thank you both so much for the suggestions. Before they're old enough to tell you how they feel it's just a guessing game and I didn't know if there was something good that we hadn't thought of. Evidently the doc just told her there wasn't much she could do for him other than the humidifier and I just thought there must be something else. They even bought an air purifier to see if that would help, at least at night. They can't prop up one end of the mattress too much or he ends up in a heap at the bottom end. This too shall pass, but in the meantime it's hard to see the coughing wake him up and he cries because he just wants to sleep!
It sounds like allergies & his sinuses are draining down his throat & into his chest. There isn't a children's antihisamine.for that young?

Top o' da noonin', y'all! I kinda got caught up... browsed through the 20 some odd pages that I got behind on and had a huge list of stuff to respond to... looks like over half of it got dropped and I just don't have it in me to go back and figure out which ones... :(
So, here're the ones that stuck  :

And likewise fer her (and da porches)!

Dawwwwww! Now ya gonna go an' make me blush, Brother! :)

Hey, 'gator balls were da local ragin Cajun rage (aka quasi-Everglades influence) new thang a while back. T'was'nt ' til folk started to appreciate da batter used, as opposed to texture, taste and tourist boredom... Chicks rule!!!

Hmmmmm... I'd probably eat that... I'm assumin' it's just gator tail (which is AWESOME!). There was a place in Florida that I used to go to called "Gators", they had fried gator tail there and some very delicious dippin' sauces... man I miss that place...

My absolute, totally and forever favorite TV celebrity!! I challenge y'all to name a TV star/role dat would change my mind...

Absolutely! Even with Bob Ross, it's no contest! :D

Kaez, wid ya Bro!

My bride has a 'nanner and yogurt each morn. Thankfully, most morns I'm still under da covers.

BTW, down here, don't get caught on a fishin' boat wid a 'nanner... ya might become chum (and not as in friend)...

Dangit! We must have some strange relation to each other, man!

And I'm right dere witcha, somebody'd get chucked right off da side! ;)

Bananas split longways into halves. Generous amount of peanut butter slathered on each piece. Homemade mayonnaise slathered on top of that. U-m-m-m-m-m-m good!

*retch*
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little....

Now that's not true. Quaker puts directions on the side of the box so it's easy, like cooking oatmeal.
grits-quick-detail-sflb

Ummm, do I need to duck now? Is Deb coming for me with her frying pan?

First problem... dem's instant grits... no self respectin' Southerner would ever get caught wit dat box in dere house... And I ain't got no fryin' pan. But I do got a shotgun! ;)

Yepper, thru 50+ v-verts, few have stayed with vaping, several have come back, but just yesterday...

Mitch, an older (younger than I, as are all of 'em) v-vert dropped by da 'office' yesterday. He was so proud to claim a year vaping (aka totally smoke free). He was one of my first v-verters years ago. He tried and tried, but always struggled. Kinda lost regular close contact with him a few years ago due to his third try with Hepatitis C treatments. Only saw him maybe twice a year. And that was all too traumatic for him in that he was losing his capability to think straight and, especially vocalizing his thoughts.

I recognized his frustration and told him to just drop by when he felt comfortable with communicating. Then, yesterday was a banner day for both of us! He actually visited again this afternoon! He's still using 350/650/1000 eGos. But I was tickled to see a Naughty Mini on his 1000. His other two toppers were an ol' CE2 type and Kanger.

BTW, his 1000 went dead and he went to get his 650/CE2 charged combo. Asked if he had an eGo cable for his car, "Nope". Well just so happened I did. Smile, priceless!

So hopefully he'll drop by tomorrow and I'll PIF an used iStick 20, full size Naughty, charging cable and a sleeve of new heads.

Didn't mean to ramble this long, but going back to precious posts re observations and commitment to our v-verts, DON'T GIVE UP ON FOLK!!! Just care and be there...

OK, carry on... (relax, just poophed ten other tagged quotes)

That's awesome, Brother!! He's been milkin' them eGos for a while, huh? You'll absolutely blow his mind with the iStick!! It's great to hear that he stuck with it... I'll keep workin' on my v-verts. Either the smokes'll kill 'em, or I will! ;)

I won't be around much for the next two days; I have 20,000 things to do tomorrow and an appt at Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. I'm a little bit nervous about Tuesday, but am hopeful that this will be the right answer. Anyway, I didn't want anyone to think I'd disappeared :)

Praying for all to go well, Honey! Just try not to run ya'self too ragged with all the errands and what-not today. {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}

For my granddaughter, I use Similasan Kids Cold & Mucus Relief. It's all natural and works for her. I tried it for me once too and it did work. It is really sweet and thick though so he would probably not like it plain, but you could mix it in a small amount of whatever his favorite drink is and give it to him that way.

When my youngest son was small, he kept getting ear infections, so I started giving him a cough syrup with a decongestant in it every night before bed (advice from my older kids' pediatrician many moons ago :) ). He's never gotten another infection. Kids' tubes are in a perfect position for infection when they are small, positioning changes as they grow, so when I thought he may have grown enough, I weaned him off the cough syrup.

Of course now a days, they say the stuff that I gave him is not good, and that's why I tried the Similasan, for my GD, and it does have a decongestant in it too. :)

Close is not good enough, for those whose brains decode directly from written language. Difficult for us to read what is written phonetically. Even if it is good phonics.

Just heard from our dil, and she told me that when Cody(grandbaby) had fits of coughing during the night, she would give him an ice cold smoothie and that would relive the cough. Now, if the coughing was really bad, then she would give him plain ice water. This seemed to reduce the inflammation enough for a good night's sleep..
Now, a word of caution about Vicks......do not use the adult Vicks as that contains camphor....there is a Baby Rub Vicks which can be applied to feet (with socks)........OR, you can get some Eucalyptus oil....any health food store carries it and add a couple of drops to the humidifier. Not to be used on baby's skin, but IN the room.

I sure hope some of this helps with little Miles! It is upsetting to us to see our little tykes so uncomfortable.
My mom was a huge Mentholatum fan. It's getting a little hard to find but, I like it a lot better than Vicks. Mom would rub it on our chest and then cover it with an almost hot washcloth. Worked great but, I don't know how young you can go with that. :)

I've always had a hard time cooking for one. When my son gets my big freezer over here from my SIL's house, I'll do some large meals that freeze well, break em down into smaller servings, and freeze em. Sorry you're still not eating well hun. That's not good. Would something like what I said work for you maybe
Oh, I do that often. There's just nothing I feel like eating.

My dearest Debra,
Have ya checked in wid a doc yet? You've been at a low level all too long. Lost of appetite is a symptom, not a diet!

I never took da chance to kick sum coonass azz (too scared I be), .... Girl ya need to take sum time to take care of yourself!!!
I have an appointment in June. (ducks and runs)

Watching "The Passion" on Fox. The passion play of the final days of Jesus in modern song. 8 to 10.
I watched it intently in between listening to my daughter gripe while doing her taxes.

awwwwww that's nice. Sorry folks are pushin yur buttons though! Not good to hold stuff in. Get it out somehow later at home. Beat the crap out of a pillow, or stand in yur livin room and scream like a banshee or whatever ya gotta do.
I've been known to scream at the devil in the shower, beat the stuffing out of pillows, and scream at the top of my lungs in the shower. It all works wonders!

Watched it. Kind if thought it was a little too preachy but, what did I expect? Music was good. :)

As a kid I hated being sick with chest congestion. I grew up w/ mustard plaster as the home remedy. This was wrapped around our chests with a wool rag ... it stunk, was goey and got hot. Sometimes Vicks vapor rub was substituted ... just as bad.
