Children's Benydril? Guaranteed to get him sleeping too.Not that I'm aware of and I know Rachel has asked the doc if there isn't something to give him. The doc said no, just put up with it. Hmmmm.

Oh! Mike! What abuse and indignity you were subjected to! My heart goes out to you. I grew up in a home where mustard plasters were never mentioned--
Yes, our faith in the ebner transport is ebbing fast.My faith is ebbing.![]()
Yes, I've found this to be true!FWIW, your pharmacist is "generally" more well versed in drugs than a doc.
That is not the criteria by which you are judged to be an official member of the back porch.....and you can believe me when I say.....misbehave and I've got something much scarier than a frying pan.........
Miles is 15 months old. Is that too young? It's still available in drug stores? I'd think Rachel would ask the pediatrician about it, but if he says no I'm going to tell her to ask why not. Some docs say no to things, but I'd want to know why not. If they have a good reason I'll listen...
I agree, Janet. I'd want to know why I should let my baby be miserable & do nothing to help him when if I felt that bad I'd be taking something for it. He needs to explain & recommend an otc solution or I'd be finding another Dr.Miles is 15 months old. Is that too young? It's still available in drug stores? My mom was a huge Mentholatum fan. It's getting a little hard to find but, I like it a lot better than Vicks. Mom would rub it on our chest and then cover it with an almost hot washcloth. Worked great but, I don't know how young you can go with that.![]()
@Janet H and @MikeE3, I hope Miles is feeling better. Little ones are so precious!
Thank you all for the warm wishes for tomorrow. I was able to get almost everything accomplished, today - except for the few things my local doctor "forgot" to do. Oh well; it is what it is. Now I just have to figure out how to get through downtown Baltimore without getting lost or yelling at some poor unsuspecting dolt who is driving too slowly!![]()

My mom gave it to us if we got too hyper. I remember the first time she gave it to me. Knocked me out. I was 9. I suspect she'd been dosing my whiney hyper little sister while I was at school for several years since she had the bottle handy. I think it tastes & smells like licorice. I still don't like licorice!Paragoric! Man, haven't heard of that in ages. My Mom would give that to us for a bad case of the runs. Tasted awful, but worked!
awwwwww I know that's so hard on y'all and the parents.but in the meantime it's hard to see the coughing wake him up and he cries because he just wants to sleep!
thanks. Thought I had quoted that, but reckin not.First problem... dem's instant grits... no self respectin' Southerner would ever get caught wit dat box in dere house... And I ain't got no fryin' pan. But I do got a shotgun!![]()
grrrrrrrr Why so long???I have an appointment in June. (ducks and runs)
Jup!!! I've cussed people out, said things I would have liked to have said at the time, but refrained for various reasons. The dog might think yur nuts, but it's important to get it out.I've been known to scream at the devil in the shower, beat the stuffing out of pillows, and scream at the top of my lungs in the shower. It all works wonders!
never heard of that one. apparently it's mostly alcohol prolly with sugar added.Oh and this Sweet Nitre was always administered. I couldn't stand it ... it was so sickening sweet. To this day I have no idea what it is other than really-really yucky.

Good! Always important to question! I like mms's suggestion of the stuff. Would like to know if the doc has ever heard of it. Maybe write down the ingredients and take em in. Active and inactive. Daniel had a bad problem with projectile vomiting after his formula. I had a great pediatrician at the time. She gave me a recipe from her files for evaporated milk, water and karo syrup. The syrup was to keep the milk from constipating them. When I asked, she said what do you think folks used before they made formula if they couldn't nurse til time to put em on cow's milk?? Made sense. She did have me get some polyviflor vitamins with iron and put on dropper a day in one of the bottles. I had nursed, and he did fine on that, but at one point he had to be on nothing but pedialyte for 3 days and after that he just wanted the bottle.I'd think Rachel would ask the pediatrician about it, but if he says no I'm going to tell her to ask why not. Some docs say no to things, but I'd want to know why not. If they have a good reason I'll listen...
I have faith in ya!! Bet bells could help! Subway too....he's great with cars!Backyard experiments haven't been too conducive lately.
