Vicks under the nose was often welcome.

Yes, our faith in the ebner transport is ebbing fast.

Never fear. Mike has always been a procrastinator and when he does get going on something it takes him forever, but it's always perfect when he's done.

this was the really dark brown stuff that didn't taste good by itself but was almost tolerable......but....... to add insult to injury, my dad used to mix it with nyquil back when it was what like 25% alcohol?? omggggg the two together were horrible!

You know I've been prayin bout tomorrow hun.
I could handle the Vicks 44 but nyquil is just nasty. Tastes like licorice, too!

There's a very good reason that you don't find otc medications for infants and toddlers anymore. They were pulled from the market because they caused more harm than good. They are dangerous for small children. The medications that do control coughs and congestion in very young children need to be very exact in the dosage to work without overdosing a child.

As for the alcohol in them working to knock a child out you might as well just load up the bottle or sippy cup with a shot of whiskey.

Here it is at Walgreens Similasan Kids Cold & Mucus Relief Syrup | Walgreens . You can check out the ingredients, and even ask the Dr., but I doubt if he/she's ever been exposed to those ingredients. I've been doling out meds for 30+ years and I had to Google them to find out anything about them.

It says on the box of that product for ages 2+ Janet's grandson is 15 months old so it would not be appropriate.

@Rotowoman, please don't wait until June! Never mind, "duck and run." It's much easier to fix problems when they're caught early on. So go let 'em get caught! An eat, please.
I'll see what happens after this hitch. Wait for hail, snow, and hurricanes on land. I cooked today and actually ate a salad and some spaghetti

wish it tasted more like licorice to me........I love black licorice, but hate nyquil. Yeah the vick's by itself, I won't say it was good, but it was tolerable. But mixed, it was beyond awful.

Thanks hun. Will have my son and dil check into this. I trust you and you trust it! :)

that looks yummy! But I'd skip the beans and definitely rotel! I'd probably also skip the oregano, not a big fan of it.

My mom gave it to us if we got too hyper. I remember the first time she gave it to me. Knocked me out. I was 9. I suspect she'd been dosing my whiney hyper little sister while I was at school for several years since she had the bottle handy. I think it tastes & smells like licorice. I still don't like licorice!
Hum, bet that's why I don't like black licorice or anise!

We got Vicks on our chests with a hot damp rag & a heating pad set on low. And a dab of Vicks under our noses. If we got fussy we got a dose of paragoric.

We got horehound tea and whisky/honey, sometimes a bag of rosemary under the pillow

That is not the criteria by which you are judged to be an official member of the back porch.....and you can believe me when I say.....misbehave and I've got something much scarier than a frying pan.........;)

Howd you get a picture of my ex wife?

Vicks on my upper lip
This also worked well when I had to observe autopsies while stationed in Japan. Not a real high point in my career.
When I saw Frito Pie my mind went back to high school and a local hangout. Frito Pie and a coke cost a quarter. They took a small bag of Fritos and cut it along the side then filled it with a scoop of chilli. I was at a picnic for an organization prior to my retirement and they ran out of bowls for the chili. I reached over and grabbed a bag of Frito's, used my Buck knife to slit the side, poured in the chili and grabbed a spoon. I was in heaven. The ladies went crazy over it. I do think I started a new fad that day. LOL

Oh and this Sweet Nitre was always administered. I couldn't stand it ... it was so sickening sweet. To this day I have no idea what it is other than really-really yucky.

Ethyl nitrite, made from ethyl alcohol, banned in the us

So great to hear! At least he's keeping his mind active in spite of his physical limitations.

David, I do hope that you and he are sharing positive experiences! Embrace them while you can...

Yep, that's why I make (at least) this annual trek. Ya never know...

Never fear. Mike has always been a procrastinator and when he does get going on something it takes him forever, but it's always perfect when he's done.

Well, if the transporter ISN'T perfect, I'm not getting in it! :w00t:
