Manners, Tweety!

Good morning, Porchers :)

I'm a wee bit nervous, this morning, apprehensive about starting with a new medical team. It's silly; I'm blessed to be in relatively close proximity to the best oncology center for this *%#*+*! disease in the country -- but I'm still fretting.

It's absolutely normal to be nervous/apprehensive/fretting in your circumstance. We're rootin' fer ya and sending out our prayers.

Hey, at least it's not a walk-in-clinic!

The Ospreys are building their nest. A sure sign of spring! They're so funny, swooping through the air, dive bombing those foolish Hawks (who invariably think they can lay claim to the Ospreys' pier). The new nest, begun only a day or two ago, will be done by the middle of next week. Then, the great wait begins!

I love when the parents are 'teaching' their young in flight; the air is filled with communicative instructions!

We have several that fish down near my 'office'. I call 'em 'my kids'.

Obviously it must be a dog treat in the cage! Come on MOM he wants to play with the dog treat!
A supervised introduction might be appropriate. So long as puppy is well-fed, hold the hamster in your lap, and tell the puppy that it is his brother.

G'morning Family! It should be another beautiful day here today. It has been a bit chilly in the mornings, but warms up nicely by around noon; bright and sunshiney! :D

DON'T SHOOT! Sadly, If I want grits I have to use instant. It's just asking too much to have to stand at the stove long enough to make the real ones right. I made my Ranch Chicken Pasta Saturday & it took hours!

Hahahahaha! I won't shoot ya, hunny... but I ain't gonna eat ya grits neither. :p

Had one locally that closed a couple years ago. BTW, da best fresh sliced/fried fries in da area! Recently, it re-opended under new management. Haven't tried da new out yet.

Ohhhhh!!! I'd forgotten about their fries!!! Dadgummit, now I'm cravin' fries that I can't have! :(

Another place that I remember fondly from Jacksonville was a sandwich shop called "European Street". They had a ton of different beers from around the world and the best sandwiches I've ever had. They baked their own breads and had a wonderful menu. I'd always get a bowl of beer-cheese soup in a bread bowl, a black forest ham sandwich with cream cheese on dark honey-wheat bread, and one of their wide selections of stouts... I don't know if they're still around, but if I'm ever back in Jax, I'm definitely gonna find out!

I know that you're nervous and apprehensive, but you said it yourself: best in the nation for your particular disease. They will take care of you (and if they don't, I'm huntin' 'em down and I'm bringin' da shotgun!). :)

Thoughts and prayers are with you and expecting wonderful news when all is said and done!

Sorry lost my TARDIS Key a couple years ago. I keep thinking one of these days the Doctor will bring me a new one, but no such luck.
Seriously though, wishing you well and hoping your new team makes you comfortable in short order.

One of the best ways to prop up a toddler to sleep is for Mom Dad or grandparent to sleep in the recliner with the lil one on your chest. Notice I said toddler not infant.

You can also give them some mint infused water to soothe the cough. Temp doesn't matter warm is better if he will drink it though. No need to sweeten it either.

Easy to make get some fresh mint leaves from the produce section, chop them, pour boiling water on them let steep a few minutes, then strain out the leaves. Keep the infused water in sealed container in the fridge, and serve at whatever temp he likes it best.

Mint is a wonderful thing! But the problem is not getting him to go to sleep. Even though he used to be a problem he actually likes to go to sleep now. Even for his naps, even when something is going on he doesn't want to leave, he'll only fuss for maybe 5 minutes and he lays down and zonks out on his own. He's especially good about going to bed at night. And now he just gets mad when the coughing wakes him up. He just wants to sleep, but the coughing wakes him up.

Speaking of mint though, I planted some so I'd have fresh mint for myself and it turned out to be spearmint!

I was sharing what I did, and gave a link to the exact product, so there would be no confusion on what it was I use. I use it safely with my GD and started using it when she was 1ish y/o and thought that would be useful information.

And just to let you know, there are comments on having 18 and 21 month olds taking it.

That's where I'm leaving my thoughts on your thoughts, otherwise I could let you know what my reaction is to being told I'm a terrible grandmother because I gave something to a 1 y/o that ABSOLUTELY STARTS AT 2+!

Ok, calm down everybody. We would never try any medication on a baby without checking with the doctor first. It often happens that a doc will recommend medications at a higher dosage or before the age listed depending on the patient. I just wouldn't do it on my own. Precautions are usually pretty conservative because people often abuse the drugs. The bottom line is you were trying to help with suggestions and I am very grateful for that. I welcome all ideas. We all want what's best for our precious little guy.

Haven't seen the Tardis key in awhile, but I'll be sure to let you know if I find it! I'd be a bit nervous too, but don't forget that this could turn out a lot better than you expected. I'll be saying prayers for you today.

Yes, the poor thing did suffer with those plasters. My mother did that to me once, but with Vicks. Never let her do it a 2nd time! So she smeared the Vicks on my upper lip!! Yuck!! It's not that I didn't like the smell, it was greasy! So when I had kids I'd open the jar and just have them sniff it. (didn't want them feeling like they were being tortured for being sick!)

I really must be odd....I loved the mustard plasters and the weight of the towel or whatever my Mom used on my chest....put me right to sleep...
