I bought a brand new Volare back in 1979, beautiful car for a young man. Doree liked the look too. 318 engine with a 4 speed automatic. Bucket seats and a jamming stereo. Worst car I ever owned. Test drive was fine, ran great but just very, very poorly put together. Within a month of driving of the lot stuff was falling off the dashboard. Knows and such were loose. Traded it in 1982 for a Ford Escort which was probably on of the best cars I've ever owned until I got my Hyundai that I'm driving now. The day I picked the Escort up I took it to the local welding shop and had a trailer hitch installed. We were leaving Key West for Virginia and my new duty station. I towed a 5 X 8 Uhaul trailer from the Keys all the way to Norfolk and the car worked great. Probably overloaded it by at least 200% of it's rated towing capacity. Doree drove it for another 150K miles before we sold it to one of her coworkers who gave it to his 16yo daughter when it had 200K+ miles on it. Great little car. The Plymouth not so much.

My first new car was a little Subaru hatchback. Creamy yellow with a roof rack. 5 speed stick. How I loved that car! It was a tank, for all its tiny size, and was a blast to drive.
