On the bright side, in a few years when the us craters and takes the global economy with it, the resulting dark age should help the environment tremendously.

I've had it with Windows. I have Windows 10 on my new computer. You have no choice about whether or not you get automatic updates. It cannot be turned off.

With the last automatic update, everything on my desktop is gone. They deleted all the links on my desktop!!!!

All my preferences are gone, which I, at least, expected.

But, Windows didn't just change my default browser from Chrome to Edge. It got rid of all my saved tabs in Chrome.

And, it pretends to search for things and never finds them. Like my preferred movie player, VLC. It can't even find it's own Calculator. I had to go online to use one.

This is insane!

As soon as I can, it's time for Linux, period.

Get on the chat with the Windows 10 help people and tell those guys what happened. You will have to let them take control of your computer but they can straighten everything out.

You obviously have a setting incorrect or something, mine updated and everything is fine. They can restore everything. They will have you dl an app that gives them control and they do it so fast you can't even keep up with what they are doing. I had to do that with one of mine and its been perfect ever since. I get the updates but everything is still there and it's free.

Yeah I know there are problems with certain component like the HDMI plug on my HP dv7 doesn't have a driver for it so it doesn't work had to put my older one upstairs that is hooked to my 24" screen but as far as things that are internal if there is a fix they will do it. Like I say I have Chrome and no problems although when I go to certain links it will start Edge but most go directly to Chrome. They probably will eventually have drivers for your scanner and for my HDMI but for me at present it is dead.

Is it an older scanner. There are some drawbacks to windows 10 but since I have had them fix it most problems with the way the computer itself works are gone. My Epson printer, scanner and fax works fine but the driver for it not sure if it was from Epson or Microsoft works. Contact your scanner company and they may have a fix. Another thing that is handy is God Mode.

Yep, my sentiments, exactly! Now if only I could get my Lovely Bride to agree with me... she insists on sticking with this ridiculous, trouble-prone, non-operating system...

Did contact scansnap. Aren't supporting win 10. Even tho it did work fine when upgraded to 10. But I do find the "auto" update dangerous. I remember a lot of updates (Especially lan and video drivers) destroyed things and it was a real PITA to undo some of them.

Dual Boot?

I would, but I'm never on the home PC anyway... not worth the argument and wouldn't solve the problems. Only time I ever get on it is to fix issues that she finds... and those problems are always Win based.

Well I am gradually changing all my flavors over to 7mg of nic and I seem to be vaping less. If nic is not harmful to your lungs will keep it going. No more craving of a ciggy. Weird after almost 4 years of no ciggys at all to get these cravings. My wife is still smoking and I'll have a puff from now and then but she smokes Ultra Lights and they taste like crap Angel Farts I am not even doing that anymore.

Just take a right and den 'nother right (BB shutters)
To avoid shuddering, I take two lefts instead.

On the other hand, when you make two rights, you come in on the left side of whatever porch you're entering.

Just google win10 support.

Knot reeely, legz. WIfe had a scan snap scanner for 10 years. Win 10 updated... no longer works. Scansnap sez... no drivers for win 10. So, $500 scanner down the drain.

@DancingHeretik did that computer come with 10 or did you upgrade? If you had 7 you can always roll it back. Check this out and see if it will help you stopping the auto installs of upgrades.

The learning curve for Linux was steep for me, about six years ago. May be better, now. Don't know what I will do when I am forced to get rid of this POS.
