I think by now you all know what I personally think about Christmas so please take this in good spirit as I wish you all Bingle Jells! and Happy Bah Humbug! and all the other good things this season!
It was a saturday I placed the order - and the call came about 5 minutes after that. To the effect that their shipping was closed at that time, and my order would be shipped as soon as possible. Took me completely by surprise, as I figured it wouldn't ship until the following monday, anyway. (It did. And got email that it did. Got to regional PO too late to get to my local one for wednesday delivery, so expect it to arrive tomorrow.)

Earlier this week they said it would be 81 today. Now it's 48. Got a cold spell along with the rain that is supposed to start tomorrow. We're under a flash flood watch through the weekend

oh my, so glad she wasn't seriously injured. Hard way to learn a lesson. Great advice about finding things to be thankful for. That changed my life many years ago!
Matt, I too appreciate you showing us the picture of Doree and her mama. That's a huge trust you place in us to share something so personal. God knows exactly who she is, but it's nice to be able to visualize who I'm praying for. I could feel the love in it as it brought back memories of me feeding my Daddy.

Good Christmas Morning, Porchers!! My Christmas joy comes from just being home.
Last night for the first time in 8 years, I was able to attend the family annual Christmas Eve dinner. Every year it used to be at my father's house, but now that he and my step mom are getting up in age, we do it at her youngest son's home.
It was fairly quiet and low key as a lot of changes have taken place in 8 years. Children grow up. Others move away. Still, I needed to see my father and step mom.
There was plenty of shrimp and crab gumbo, boudin, and potato salad. And, of course, my step-mom's famous pecan cake. I was tired, but I was at peace.
