GPS: possibly technology's greatest gift to me, has saved me many hours that I used to spend driving around lost.

Anyway, me, mom and little bro went to a diner last night in my car. Andrew brought his GPS unit since the diner destination was already saved. Fortunately, he has "the squirrel" voice in his Garmin, because it's an absolute riot. Sounds crummy in the sample on the Garmin site but sounds hilarious when actually installed.

Here are some of the things the squirrel says:
"I think I just saw a fox!"
"Turn right, then turn left, OK?"
"We're almost there! Yay!"

We were cracking up both on the way there and the way back, and the food was maybe was a tad below average for this diner, but this diner's average is still really high. The Americana Diner in East Windsor NJ.

I arrived back home in NC less than an hour ago.

Have I ever mentioned that I don't care much for I-95?

Lets see first concert...

Rolling Stones with Santana opening for them. I want to say it was the 1980 tour but I could be wrong.

Best concert to this day was Neil Young.

I will always treasure that I got to see Benny Goodman before he passed.
My first concerts were either classical or folk, don't remember the order. Saw Peter, Paul and Mary, the Chad Mitchell Trio, the Garden State Symphony. First concert attended with peer transport rather than adult transport: Jefferson Airplane, I think.

Best live performer I've ever seen was Joe Cocker. Saw him twice: first time was in 1969 or 1970 at UMass Amherst and the second time was 25 to 30 years later at Walnut Creek in Raleigh.

I got to see ABB several times in Piedmont Park in Atlanta in the late 60's & early 70's. It was like an early version of Party on the Dock-Bordwalk-Plaza things that go on now. Except it was unplanned & unadvertised. Bands would just show up, set up, & start playing for free.
Daytona would have bands at the Bandshell down by Main Street in the beach every weekend during the summer. That's where I saw Vanilla Fudge the first time as well as a slew of up and coming and starting to fade bands.

If you count school, my first concerts were symphonies in 4th grade.

When I was about 11, my mother took me to see Louis Armstrong. Although, that was more of a performance than an actual concert. My mother later took me to see Peter Paul & Mary and, even later, James Brown.

My first concert as a grown-up was The Doobie Brothers.

I forgot about the symphony in elementary school. Couple of times. If I remember correctly I enjoyed it.

Well, I did it again. Talking with the neighbor over the fence about some project work and put my foot in my mouth during the conversation. Luckily we have known each other for a long time and we look over trivial things.

It is just a fact of life - at one time or another you are going to put your foot in your mouth - no avoiding it, but what you can avoid is making sure you are not wearing steel toed spiked boots when you do it (OUCH)... :w00t::D

As long as I can set my own hours! (And the stipend is sufficient. I'll tell 'em I'm a cloud chaser and go through 100 mls a day, so I can spread it around ;))
