I slept so good last night! I did wake up around 2 am, and stayed up a couple of hours. But, even with that and a couple of smaller interruptions, I think I musta got 9 hours sleep! Or more.

So, why do I still feel tired?

I just woke up from a nap. Maybe it is the interconnectedness of humanity. The decaf tea I was drinking yesterday afternoon must not have been totally decaf. I laid in bed and tossed and turned between ten and 11:45, then got up and turned on the puter and piddled around until midnight. I don't even remember if I stayed up until midnight. Then I woke up at 6:00.

Well I remembered. Some pretty high prices on some things. I bet my brand new LE SXmini M's will be worth some money someday. They are brand new only thing I put the battery in for was upgrading to the latest firmware plus they are the LE Silver on Silver. A year from now they should be worth more then I paid but I won't sell them.

I did went to sleep about 1130 then the fireworks woke us up at midnight. Can't believe people out shotting fireworks at 2 degrees.
Sorry buddy, we'll try to keep it down next year. :)
Happy New years folks!
We had an ABF new years (Alcohol Bonfire and Fireworks), was just as good as the old ATF ones, ended up pulling a sober person out of the ditch on the way home.
Slept through the last 4 New years eve's, maybe this year will be better. Hope ya all had a good one, still catchin up on the reedinn.
Hey @2legsshrt it was cold yesterday, Grandkids wanted a snowman and of coarse the snow was to cold, so we scavenged some snow boulders where the snow plow went through and built an Iceman, lol. Pretty cold today, avoid those shady spots!

I tried to do some research on incandescent bulbs and the 2007 US Law which supposedly makes them more difficult and/or impossible for US residents to obtain, since my neighbor is another one who's been telling me that it's impossible to buy them.

Very confusing. I could not find what I would call a single source of complete information.

The 100 Watt incandescent bulbs I linked to on Amazon are imported from Hungary.

The ban supposedly went into effect 2 years ago, on Jan 1 2014.

GE supposedly made their last incandescent bulb in the US in 2010, but then they supposedly opened up a factory in Ohio in 2013 where they were making a new kind of more efficient incandescent bulb with a halogen capsule. I say "supposedly" for both of those "facts" because the stories I read were dated, and I didn't find follow-up stories.

So, who knows? All I know is I'm completely happy with LED bulbs. CREE brand are made in the US as far as I can tell, but that might be old news as well and might no longer be true.

Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs that don't fall under any prohibition because they're more efficient than tungsten-filament incandescent bulbs.

You can still buy 40,60 and 100 watt bulbs but they are special use bulbs. Ie rough use and such and cost a lot.
No US retailer is allowed to import and sell any standard incandescent bulb 40 watts or over.
I used to hand out papers to ticked off customers at Lowes. Once the warehouses were empty of those bulbs that was it. I got my handout from Lowes legal department, I was the Electrical Pro for over a year at a Lowes.
But I am not sure about an individual importing them for personal use. They would not be legally allowed to resell them though.

You can still buy the 100W equivalent bulbs with the halogen capsule in them.

These bulbs GE Lighting 100 Watt White Incandescent Light Bulbs - White (Pack of 48) - - Amazon.com are shipped from Amazon (Kentucky I think) but imported from Hungary. I would think that doesn't comply with the reselling restrictions you list. Then again, maybe they have the more efficient halogen capsules inside that I was reading about. Just dunno. Under $1 a piece when purchased in this quantity and under $2 a piece when purchased in smaller quantities.

I was thinking the same thing, I have never noticed any shortage of incandescent bulbs and here is a link to some nice cheap ones ,
Standard Light Bulbs | 1000Bulbs.com
75w philips are .39
Im going with LED's in hopes they live long enough to save a little money on the power bill, incandescent bulbs for the drop light, and other apps where a little heat is useful, difused light, or I don't want to wait 15 mins for the bulb to get bright, lol.

I did find this,
Five Myths About the Federal Incandescent Light Bulb Ban
I think maybe people have it mixed up with Compact fluorescent ? I dont think they are real safe unless something has changed in the design. Saw one emit a flame about 6" long when it burned out a few years ago, so I dont use them around anything flamable.

Been using CFL's for Maybe 10 years? Had about 4 quit. None flame.
We have been using fluorescent lamps for decades and they contain mercury as well.
And one thing I love about CFL's they don't burn the crap out of you in a drop light under a car.

I use the daylight spectrum ones in my workshop and love em. Can see much better than with standard florescent or incandescent lighting.
And they will start up at lower temps than standard 4 ft fluorescent tubes will.
I use them in all my outbuildings and they start at below 0 temps. Albeit a bit dimmer than usual when really cold but they warm up and go to full brightness in a few minutes.

Years ago the electric company gave me 4 CFL bulbs and they were crap. Lasted a few weeks at most.
