Update on my turntable journey (probably gettin' to be more of a saga for you all)
I got it percolatin' yesterday morning. Installed the new headshell/cartridge wires, hooked up the Pyle PP444 pre-amp between the TT and my DIY "boombox", picked out 6 albums and cleaned 'em. Since the new belt is still not here, put the old one back on... despite being over 1" too long, it still spins the platter pretty consistently AFAIC. Still need to clean and re-grease the spindle bearing, etc... it has a bit of a rumble... haven't popped the bottom off yet.
Albums:
Allman Brothers - Beginnings ----------- Midnight Rider, Whipping Post, Hoochie Coochie Man
Todd Rundgren -- Something/Anything - Hello It's Me, Dust In The Wind
Little Feat -------- Sailin' Shoes --------- Willin', Apolitical Blues, Cold Cold Cold
Phoebe Snow ---- Looks Like Snow ---- Shine Shine Shine, Don't Let Me Down
Wet Willie -------- Drippin' Wet! --------- She Caught the Katy (and left me a mule to ride)
Harry Nilsson ---- Nilsson Schmilsson -- (Put the lime in the) Coconut, Without You
First up: Wet Willie of course - Red Hot Chicken, That's All Right, No Good Woman Blues, Airport, Macon Hambone Blues... closed my eyes and felt like I was 18 again. I'm gonna like this journey.
My 18yo daughter came in and was duly impressed, she knows what a turntable and LP vinyl albums are, but had never even seen/heard one in action! One question she had: How do you pause it?

I lifted the Cue lever, music stopped, and she said: "But does it go back to the same place in the song?"

Kids these days!
This oughta be illegal - I'm havin'
too much fun.
