My mother used to do the same but instead of cooking she put it in a crock & covered it with wine for a week.:w00t:
I have heard of that, too. However, as a consequence of alcohol abuse in my early years, I get high blood pressure from drinking. A taste, maybe, but not worth the effort. It is no longer dried fruit once it is made. :p

The first time I did a batch, the recipe said a full cup of sugar, but that was too sweet.

Peach, 99.9% of new vapers start out with a tobacco flavor. Just common sense or human nature to find a substitute for the smokes. But asking what a good baccy flavor is? Prolly isn't an answer to that. We are all different.

BUT... I have a Mountain Oak Vapors 555 that isn't bad and some swear by RY4. tobacco blue by liberty stix isn't bad. Now 555 and RY4 are carried by a gazillion shops. Likely all different. Again, tho, that's me. Taste budz vary wildly among peeplez! :)

Questions: Can anyone tell me a tobacco flavor that's good? I avoid it because it makes me crave a cigarette, but I'm thinking they might prefer it for starters. I can send them some premixed fruity flavors custard and cream based, but I don't have any tobacco recipes. They both smoke cheap cigarette brands, whatever is on sale, though they have a preference for Marlboro.

Here's one. While I don't vape a lot of tobacco-ey flavors, I still mix this up. Might be a bit harsh when mixed, but after about a week steeping smooths out.

All are TFA

Double chocolate (clear) 15%
7 Leaves Ultimate 5%
Sweet Cream 2%

I mix to about 18 mg/ml nic, and target about 65/35 PG/VG

Thinking about Christmas gifts. I've decided to buy my youngest son an MPV like the one I have. Says he's been trying to quit with cigalikes , finds them harsh and not very satisfying. He smokes a pack or more a day.

Also his dad. COPD so severe the doc has put him on temporary disability. One doc (work works for his company) has approved him to return to work after a serious exacerbation, but his family doc won't release him.

I know he's my ex...but he IS my children's father. He's smoking three packs a day, works for Duracell as a mechanic in the powder room (20 years). They call that place the pit, and the air is filled with toxic dust. It's so thick, the tub is black when he takes a shower, but the money is good and feels he can't quit. They live in the boonies on a farm in GA and jobs are scarce, especially after age sixty. He's tried a pen mod, but again, the small tank is a nuisance, so I was thinking at least a 5 ml like my Nauti Aspire. And some DIY supplies. Maybe some pg and vg, nic base, recipes and flavors. I might even mix some up in strengths that might be appropriate for them both.

the closest I have found to a real cig is 4% Hangsen Desert ship, with 1 drop of brown sugar per 10 ml and 1 drop of butterscotch per 10 ml.
The RY4's and such all taste pruney and or spicey to me.
I tried every tobacco flavor that 3 different vape shops had when I first started vaping, none suited me. I first started out with Clayton tobacco flavored ejuice, cut it 50% with PG/VG and added a few drops of butterscotch. Was ok. You can find the Clayton in tobacco shops and gas n gos. At least that is where I used to get it. Cheap too.

Be advised NO ejuice will be just like smoking a real cig.

I suppose the hardest part for me is a lifetime of seeing him bulletproof and rather quickly becoming a man that does not want my help but. . . needs it. I've always said he was superman and only I saw his cape. As far as I am concerned, the cape is still there[/B]

He's really doing what he should be doing in order to recoup what was effected in the stroke, he's just trying to do too much of it & needs to stop & rest a little. Pushing is good, but he's pushing himself that one step too far & then losing it. His strength & co-ordination will come back with him making the demand for that on his brain & body, but there's a point he's got to stop a little while, then go again later on. It will get better & he'll be better able to do these things easily again. Honestly, age has little to do with it, physical condition does, & that's what it sounds like he's trying to work on. He wants his life back. Just be there to pick him up, & get him to stop for a few minutes now & then.
I know what you are going thru, Ratty! Although, in my Mom's case, she got herself built back up & did great until somone told her she should slow down & not try to do so much when she was doing so well for years after her stroke If I ever find out who that was....the point is, once she stopped pushing & began sitting around more, she began going downhill again. Fast. Now she can't do, because she doesn't do. Everything she regained is gone again. And she can't get it back unless she gets up & gets started. The Dr's tell her to do her little exercises & get up & get going. Her labs are good, her bp is great on the days when she gets up & does things. The more she does, the better she does. But she stops, & sits down again & has to start over.
Steroids talking too much. [emoji51]

I have quarts and quarts of dried mixed fruit. Apples, pears, blackberries, pineapple, cranberries (LOL), pomegranate, cherries. I think that is all. Started using them finally. Fruit soup. Put them in a microwave rice cooker, mix 1 T cornstarch, 1/2 cup sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and enough water to cover. Nuke for 20 minutes. I am eating several bowlfuls a day. Good fiber, and the vitamin content must be up there.
That sounds so good!

Yep, I couldn't use tobacco juices. The ones I tried were terrible! My first month I used a peppermint ice. I think it helped clear my tastebuds, it tasted like a good breath mint. But tobacco's tased bad from day 1. Try something minty, & a fruity, & a custard creamy & a tobacco just to narrow down what they like to vape. Vaping taste is so different from smoking taste. I'm going to try to diy a tobacco, I'm still trying to expand. I found a premade tobacco I like, but it's a pipe blend d smells like a pipe, but the flavor is great. I got a sample in an order from Giant Vapes. It's El Blacco by G2 vapor. Pretty delicious!

Sometimes, something warrants noting, and this particular something is note worthy .. and, I don't think I've seen it posted, which I think is odd, so here we go ..

The supportiveness, camaraderie and general wish for well being that permeates the threads since thread one has been, rarely, if ever to my knowledge, pushed to a real life example .. at least until the recent past .. and those that lent a hand in this should be recognized .. however, since I have not asked their permission to use names, nor do I know the full extent of the story, I am simply going to tell what I have pieced together ...

During a Hang Out session, one of our own here had a Medical Emergency .. thru the quick thinking and actions of others in our fold (I'm unsure whether it was one or two folks) .. an Ambulance was able to be dispatched and rescue our fellow friend .. all of this unfolded on camera as the Hang Out session stayed live ..

Now, I don't know about you, but this fortuitous simple twist of fate needs and deserves recognition .. in fact, it's a 6:00 News story as far as I'm concerned .. I sincerely hope that those involved step up and tell the tale in greater detail and take the bow with which they have earned ..

How the Fates converged at just the right time in order to bring these folks together VIA ECF, then lead them to a fairly obscure thread, then lead them to the Hang Out and end up at EXACTLY the right moment in time with which to witness and act on a Medical Emergency has to be a billion to one odds ..

So please, step up, tell the whole tale and take your place at the head of the Table .. please ..

Mountain Oak Vapors 555 that isn't bad and some swear by RY4

Here's one. While I don't vape a lot of tobacco-ey flavors, I still mix this up.

4% Hangsen Desert ship, with 1 drop of brown sugar per 10 ml and 1 drop of butterscotch per 10 ml.

Yep, I couldn't use tobacco juices
Thanks guys and gals. It's a start and gives me some ideas. I have some RY4. Maybe I'll play around with it and other flavors and see what I come up with before spending any money.

Real Cig from Vaping Zone tastes almost exactly like a Marlboro Light. I think they've changed the name in the last week or so but you can find it on their website.
