A 21 minute flight shortly before sunset today, reduced to 1:40 for viewing purposes.

Waving! That was wonderful, Bells! The water is so clear, the trees are beautiful! That music was a perfect way to start my morning! Thank you!

For those that don't visit the Front Porch, first trailer from A Billion Lives:

Thank you so much for posting this and for Janet suggesting the Web Site signup .. since I generally don't visit the Front Porch, I likely would have missed it and, in fact, I had no idea it was forthcoming ... although, as most teasers do, it leans toward sensationalism somewhat, I feel sure the final product will contain more concrete proof .. I am a self admitted documentary nut .. it looks like it's well produced and it could not come along at a better time ..

I am heading to the Web Site post haste ..

Deserves a bump ..

Hey Y'all! I'm back at work. I needed to be here so I could get some peace and quiet (Not that a helicopter is quiet) But at least I'm not ripping and running through traffic for blood work and other assorted BS. The drive down this morning was GREAT! The sun was shining, and I realized just how lucky I am to work where I work. Nature's splendor was certainly at its best today. It looks like we'll be busy this week. Good. I'm tired of doctors' offices.
I hear that! I only get out to go to the PO, grocery store, pharmacy, & Drs. All but the Dr are local, so I take different route every time I go anywhere. All my friends still work & have families, so those have drifted away, too. I used to enjoy going for a ride, & just driving around, seeing what ever there was to see. I actually enjoy the drive to the Dr. New scenery every 3 months! Whoop! I think I'll start going to the HEB grocery stores further away. Give me a chance for a ride & change of scenery.

Question: When you get new glass bottles do you rinse them before you use them? If I do I am not planning on using soap but just wondered if it was necessary. I gotta split up my nic and get it in the freezer. Still 1000's of people here without power and the temps are dropping into the teens at night. Man I'm glad we have ours back.
I did. I put all mine in a big pot, d filled the bottles d pot with water, brought it slowly to a boil (so the glass wouldn't break), pulled them out & set them aside to dry d cool. Once the botttles were out- I dropped the lids in the same pot, gave them a swish & poured the pot d lids into a collander. Then set them aside to drain & dry. I think next time i'll just use the dishwasher...[emoji39]

I don't worry about it but, I'm absolutely sure that someday that's gonna come back and bite me in the azz. Be safe rinse em in nice hot water, shake em out good and stick em in the dish drain to dry well first. That's the safe bet or you can just pour the stuff in em and not worry about it. Isn't PG antibacterial anyway?
They are manufactured in a factory, Matt. A dirty, dirty factory using dirty, dirty machines. Wash them, please, we'd like to keep you around here & not in a hospital on a lung sucking machine giving DIY a bad name. Ok, I did say please...

I haven't, but maybe others might. If it makes you feel better you could rinse them out with some vodka. Just be sure they dry out well. It could take awhile because the neck is small.
I got the wide mouth bottles so my little mixer thingie would fit in when I use the to make juice in.

Made in a factory like the plastic wrap or zip lock bags you put on your food?

Patrick I highly recommend that you look into a standby generator. The cost isn't that bad if you have natural gas already on the property. If you have propane then you may need to get a bigger tank. A standby generator to handle your whole house (12-17kw) is around 4 grand and depending on how well you know your electrician $800 or so to install it. Sometimes Lowe's or Homely Despot will have a sale with free or discounted installation. As we get older it's harder to survive the cold and such. Doree and I have already discussed it and we're installing one as soon as I start working on the house down there. We don't have NG so I'm going to have propane installed anyway as neither of us can stand cooking on an electric stove. Haven't done it regularly in over 25 years. We have a big kitchen overhaul in the plans as the one there was put in in 1972 and MIL was all about inexpensive (cheap) so everything is builder's grade junk.
Well the thing about it is that storm was something that has never happened here before. The last time they had this many power outages was Ice Storm in 96 even that wasn't as bad as this. IDK if this is the way of things to come or not. We have never lost our power here for over 2 hours in the 15 years we have lived in this house.

They (yes the infamous "they") say that this or worse. Who really knows but, I'm kind of beginning to think they might know of what they speak.

The few times a year that I actually use my Netflix subscription the first place I check is the documentary section to see if there is anything I either haven't seen or might want to view again. Same.with my Roku. Lot of times it's straight to the PBS App to see what's new in Nova, Nature and Frontline. I can spend the day watching documentaries no problem.

I enjoy TED as it provides a wealth of thought provoking material .. and, the following Netflix content is well worth a watch, if you have not done so already ..

Keith Richards: Under the Influence

Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me

What Happened, Miss Simone?

DamNation

Good Ol' Freda

Hey Bells, I think I found your next hobby!
Regardless of whether you're talking about the gyrocopter or the gyrocopter pilot, either one is too much work to be my next hobby.

If I'm flying a drone and have a brain fart, I can quickly lose a large investment.
But that investment is chump change compared to what I lose if I'm at the controls inside a flying craft and have that same brain fart.

Looking for things for me to do is not a particularly good hobby for anyone to undertake. The pay is zilch and the success rate is nil.

My Phantom has 2 modes in which it will fly faster than you see it fly in my videos. I'll show you a video in "Attitude" mode one of these days soon, which uses the GPS for altitude hold but does not use the GPS for position hold. If I ever show you a video in "Manual" mode, which does not use GPS at all but which allows top speed, it's likely to be a crash video.
