Debra, sorry your hurting. I really wish there was something I could do for you. I've got the owwies (drugs) but, don't know if you can take them, am too far away and it really is illegal to share them. Prayers your way though girl and hope they solve the problem soon.

Aw, thanks Matt. I'm a survivor. I'll get through this. This may sound funny, but I may try going without a bra tomorrow. I think it is NOT helping. It's so cold down here all I have to do is put on extra clothes, and nobody will know the difference.

Speaking of sore. Did I mention that I fell down the stairs again last night.

Doggone Matt, I worry about you!! Slow your roll.

We got app. a foot of snow yesterday! Looks lovely...from inside! No I'm not taking a pic...it's COLD out there!

I'm truly grateful we have no snow down here.

Debra, I so hope you get to feeling better real soon! I know you do too!.

Thanks, Gracie. I'll be all right. That Industrial strength Aleve did me a world of good last night, and I WILL be taking another one when I get back to the apartment.

Helluba windstorm last nite. Blew the sat dish down. No tv til tuesday. :(

Last night we had winds at 20 knots gusting to 30 at times. It's still blowing out here today. The weather was gorgeous today, but that wind is .... kicking. We have absolutely nothing to the north of us to break the wind at all. It howls right over the bay that is north of us and reminds us who is boss. Thankfully I always have jackets, scarves and rain gear in my locker and car.

I'm so sorry, Debx. How long before you can get this taken care of?

It probably won't be until the New Year. I'm working overtime at the end of this hitch anyway. My lovely opposite called the boss 6 days before this holiday and asked off for Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after. At first I told him "No" that I wasn't going to do it. Then I thought about the procedure I need that the insurance won't pay for and starting calculating Holiday Pay AND overtime. Even after taxes, those two days will be worth it. Besides, where else can I spend Thanksgiving with as rowdy crew that makes me laugh all the time. I'll be all right.

So sorry you were hurting so bad, hope you slept well and are better today hun!!

Thanks! I am better today, but just running around here has me flaring up a little bit again. I had a helicopter mast that I had to re-pack and get ready to ship off, and then an aircraft battery that needed to be prepared for shipping as well. I'm not really picking up on anything heavy, but I do have this work to do. Hopefully these two items will be it for the rest of the hitch. If not, I'll ask for help.

Featuring a quick climb to 350', a horse on the move, two stationary cows and pretty leaves changing color. Also a waving lunatic right at the end if your screen is large enough and you don't blink.

What I want to know is where are you getting that lovely music??

Well it appears that my britches are not the only thing I put on backwards. GRRRR
wall.gif
Which reminds me of something crazy that I did when I was home. On my last day home, I was ripping and running around getting ready for yet another appointment. I got to the chiropractor and got settled in my chair for the tens treatment and hot pack. The girl who was setting me up asked me if the label on the outside of the shirt was a new trend. I immediately lost it and just went into wild maniacal laughter. I had put my shirt on inside out before I left the house and never noticed. I went to the bathroom between treatments and put it on the right way.

I think My thanksgiving dinner (he will go to the big bash with his family) is going to be a grilled chicken breast, veggies, mashies, and a slice of pumpkin pie. Not going to do my usual hit McDonalds thing this year. I just don't really do holidays.

I haven't done them well for quite some time now.

Venting. Found out at 7:30 tonight that the family Thanksgiving was today at my sister's. She told Mom, who promptly forgot, & neither of them had told me. All I was told was to bring the broccoli & rice casserole & Mom was to bring 2 pies. I, of course, assumed Thanksgiving Day. Making it worse is that one of her stepdaughter's invited a friend with 2 small children. So glad she was included. We were sent leftovers which we will microwave & eat on Thursday.
So, not happy with the sister now for waiting till 7:30 to see why we weren't there.

Wow! That is SO not cool. My family would have been calling me at 10am to see why I wasn't there.

Too Cool...

That was pretty good. However, not many will recognize it for what it is.

Much appreciate the positive comments on my quad videos. Thanks!

Not much more than a month ago I was complaining about how the instructions for various video editing programs did not speak my language. Now I've learned to use Windows Movie Maker and it's actually becoming easy. In the old days the most I could figure out how to do was cut out a section at the beginning and another at the end. I now pride myself on keeping the videos under 3 minutes. Adding music of precise length is pretty easy as well through Windows Movie Maker.

If any Windows computer user without video-editing know-how has any difficulty tackling Windows Movie Maker, just ask me and I can probably save you some of the head-scratching that I had to go through before figuring it out.
When I start making videos of my quad races I will be giving you a hollar.

thanks hun, I saved the recipe. Sounds odd, but definitely worth trying, I love horseradish!

Wow kenna, we've had the heat on for a couple weeks. Not all the time, but a lot of it. Supposed to get to 29 tonite.......... someone sent Winter down here, and I wanna know who did it!!!

Been keepin folks up there in my prayers!
I will be spending Thanksgiving with my son and his wife. Well, I should say at my son's MIL. Loads of food, I spent it there about 3 years ago. I am going to miss not cooking this year, but, I do enjoy sharing a meal with his in-laws. Being the center of attention of the single ladies is always a blast. lol

As for cold... it was brutal out there last night. 62!!!!
That is just wrong! LOL

Kenna, so sorry to hear of the miscommunication and not getting to enjoy the family gathering.

Not being a yam man myself (to da dismay of my southern heritage family), I just might be coerced wid da bourbon. It goes wid almost everything, including pecan pie and a soaked fruitcake!

Had a ramp rat buddy o' mine bring down a smoked turkey to da 'office' dis PM. He told da 'no mercy table' (aka liars bench) "get rid of it, throwing out whats left". Well, I rescued 'bout 40% of it and need to strip da carcass here in a bit. Thinkin' of sum smoked turkey croquettes and da rest fer one of my fridge soups.
BTW, saw sumpin' da other day I need to try... deep fried bacon wrapped bread stuffin' balls!

Got down to nine last night. Lets see if someone else can contribute to the "how bad is it" contest.
We are supposed to hit 36 tonight, but the north side of Houston is under a freeze warning. Supposed to warm up tomorrow & hit 72 high on Thursday.

JUP!!

Edit: Let me know if anyone is interested and I will write down how I make gumbo when I do it Friday.
I learned how to make it from a dear friend of mine in Chalmette (st bernard's parish) but would love to see how you do yours if it's not too much trouble to write it down! Uhmmm and if ya wanted to send me a bowl of it, that would be great too! hehehe

So, not happy with the sister now for waiting till 7:30 to see why we weren't there.
You sure we aren't related? I swear we have some of the same family. I'm so sorry sweetie!!

No thanksgiving for me this year. Just thankful that my wife was not hurt more in her accident.
wow, really hope someone will see to it that y'all have some Thanksgiving supper! And yes, very glad she wasn't hurt more than she was.

Well, glad you won't be alone at Thanksgiving, and will have good friends to share it with! Lots of extra pay helps too, but I'm about sick of that guy and his shenanigans, and I don't even know him!! lol

I'm about sick of him too. Shucks, I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been sick of him. However, he can think again if he thinks I will work for Christmas because for the first time in years, I will be off Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day. I'm not working for ANYBODY holiday pay or not!!

I've spent a big part of the past hour and a half looking for the CDC study that's mentioned in the article. No luck so far. I'd like to know exactly what the CDC said.

As it turns out, each daughter thought one of the others had invited us. They were mortified! It's now a 'rich' family 'tale' told each TG day.
I got five words for them, and you: group email and "reply all".

Yep I put my legs on backwards, that didn't work well.
Bet you didn't know whether you were coming or going.

What I want to know is where are you getting that lovely music??
Directly within Windows Movie Maker under the Add Music tab are links to 3 different sources for free online music. I search by length of selection. Even when I use just a 3 second variation (searching for music between 01:52 and 01:55, as I did for the most recent video) there are hundreds of selections to choose from. I listen to them until I find one I like, download it, then add it to the video.

Speaking of sore. Did I mention that I fell down the stairs again last night. I was heading down to take some Motrin to knock down the ache in my knees so I might sleep and I think my brain thought I was further down than I was. Fell from the 4th step up. Had a hold of the railing so I was able to break my fall but ended up bruised some. I'm OK though, just scared me. I seem to be getting clumsier and it's worrying Doree.
Damn Matt, falling scares the hell out of me too especially after the one I broke my shoulder and hip. I think we get complacent sometimes and then something happens. It scares me cause I have to go up and down 8 stairs to get to the bathroom and I know if I fell coming down it would probably really screw me up let alone how hard it would make my wifes life. I'm so skinny my bones are right under my skin. When I fell at the Barber shop I had to lay there and try to figure out if I was hurt or not. Don't do that anymore Buddy.

I made my Bourbon Yams today for Thanksgiving. The yams will soak in bourbon til Thurs and I think I will, too...gonna be a loooong week! I also made Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish. My mom started making it years ago and I love it! It has fresh cranberries, sugar, onions, sour cream and horseradish - it's fabulous!!!
Yams or sweet potatoes? Had some yams imported from africa once, they were good.

Robert, Kroger has a nice Thanksgiving meal offer from the Deli. Price varies depending on bird size and the # of servings on the sides. You do need to order ahead, but you can pick up on Wed and then on Turkey day just heat everything up.

That would have totally distracted me, too. Why is there no drooling face thingy on Ttalk?
The flank steak is really easy to make. Take a fairly good size flank steak, thicker is better. Fillet it down the middle lengthwise leaving one end connected. Your making it thinner and longer. You want to end up with a steak that is 1/2 the thickness of the original and twice as long all in one piece (hope that makes sense). Prepare 1 package of stovetop stuffing, your choice of flavor but, we normally use the cornbread variety. Spread the stuffing on the flank steak, like putting peanut butter on bread. Roll the steak up and pin the ends with toothpicks. Make one package of McCormick's Au Jus (the packaged stuff you get in the spices section of the grocery near the gravies). Place the flank steak in a roasting pan that has a cover (Corningware is great). Pour the Au Jus over the flank steak, cover and bake at 350 until the internal temp is around 155 degrees, basting occasionally. Remove from the oven and let stand about 10 minutes, carry over heat should finish cooking the steak, looking for an internal temp of 165 right before slicing. Slice crosswise and serve with some of the Au Jus spooned over it. We normally serve it with a vegetable like broccoli or asparagus. It's really good and very reasonably priced, especially if you get the flank steak on sale. Doree and I can get a couple of dinners and depending on the size, a lunch out of it.
