Matt...might you talk with your Dr. about a safe way to cut back?

Speaking as one who has been well traveled on the Silk Road and the resulting Blue Peaceful Clouds that come with it, gradual weaning is about the only viable solution .. the problem comes in with attempting to find Pain Relief alternatives that are effective and don't kill an organ over time .. opiates can be used forever without organ issues, the downside being increased resistance and addiction .. Cold Turkey is not a pleasant alternative ..

Of course but, not for this stuff and don't forget that right now the major problem is they won't fill the scripts. She can't send a script out of state anyway, not for narcotics. Anything else she can just call into the pharmacy back home and the CVS down here will pull it up on the computer and fill it. Emergency scripts only though because I have to go through Tri-Care mail order for everything else or pay almost full price for it. Government is trying to save money or so they say.
Yep you are in the pain pill supply state for the eastern part of the USA.
Damn Knee jerk politicians up here have passed laws so it is nearly impossible to get pain pills for those of us who need them. I just OD on Naproxen and kill my liver. Ohh well.

Strange on the addiction thing. I took Hcodone for 15 years then got cut off by new laws. No withdrawl at all but I never got a buzz from them neither.
Just relief from pain.
your reply...

Same for me with valium. Of course, only took it when needed but had it around since I was in my twenties. The only thing it did for me was take the pain away.

And getting pain pills is only going to get worse according to the latest from the politicians.

In this case, I don't know if I would blame the politicos as much as the cause of the clampdown .. with the street values, large sums of money to be made in the "after market" trade, a willing buyer contingent, etc ..

I feel safe in saying the Pharma folks are more than happy to sell as many as Humanly possible ..

Hell, where I live, it's a "pain in the ...." to get Sudafed ..

Update on my turntable journey (probably gettin' to be more of a saga for you all)

I got it percolatin' yesterday morning. Installed the new headshell/cartridge wires, hooked up the Pyle PP444 pre-amp between the TT and my DIY "boombox", picked out 6 albums and cleaned 'em. Since the new belt is still not here, put the old one back on... despite being over 1" too long, it still spins the platter pretty consistently AFAIC. Still need to clean and re-grease the spindle bearing, etc... it has a bit of a rumble... haven't popped the bottom off yet.

Albums:
Allman Brothers - Beginnings ----------- Midnight Rider, Whipping Post, Hoochie Coochie Man
Todd Rundgren -- Something/Anything - Hello It's Me, Dust In The Wind
Little Feat -------- Sailin' Shoes --------- Willin', Apolitical Blues, Cold Cold Cold
Phoebe Snow ---- Looks Like Snow ---- Shine Shine Shine, Don't Let Me Down
Wet Willie -------- Drippin' Wet! --------- She Caught the Katy (and left me a mule to ride)
Harry Nilsson ---- Nilsson Schmilsson -- (Put the lime in the) Coconut, Without You

First up: Wet Willie of course - Red Hot Chicken, That's All Right, No Good Woman Blues, Airport, Macon Hambone Blues... closed my eyes and felt like I was 18 again. I'm gonna like this journey.

My 18yo daughter came in and was duly impressed, she knows what a turntable and LP vinyl albums are, but had never even seen/heard one in action! One question she had: How do you pause it? :) I lifted the Cue lever, music stopped, and she said: "But does it go back to the same place in the song?" Kids these days!

This oughta be illegal - I'm havin' too much fun.

your reply...

I hear ya, unc. Problem is it will only affect the folks who need them. Druggies... they get to raise their prices and make even more.

Since Florida became known as the "Pill Mill" and now is in clampdown mode, yes, prices will hike .. supply and demand, it's the American Way .. :(

Last night, Billy Joel was on Fallon, and he sounded pretty good .. in addition, his Band is just excellent .. Mark Rivera (Sax/Flute/Harmonica, etc) I could listen to all day .. at any rate, this one's for Sandy and Gracie .. :) .. it's "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" .. last night, I think I said "Themes From an Italian Restaurant" during a momentary brain outage .. ;) .. one of my favorites from "The Piano Man" ..

A quick PSA for any that have loved one's deployed overseas .. my friend at themilitarywallet.com , Ryan, did a great compilation of Amazon Prime Video streaming available at some Military Installations .. normally, licensing issues prevent outside the USA streaming, yet Amazon has made a concerted effort to make available it's catalog to deployed service members .. I would also guess that if you wanted to "share" your Prime Log In with an overseas loved one that is located within a Base/Camp that's covered, that might work .. YMMV ..

And, as a plug for Ryan, registration and email alerts from his site are very much worthwhile for the Vets and Active Duty out there ..

Amazon Prime - Excellent Value for Military Members

It's an oldie but a goodie, like many things in life :) .. "The Stranger" is, arguably Joel's best album, I know it's my favorite .. not a throw away cut in the bunch, IMO .. and, for me, oddly, my favorite track is the one that's most overlooked, I love this song ::

I got em at Amazon. $12 for a dozen. 120 ml.
that's great. the wide mouth packer bottles that I got for 7.99 were recently 20.00, now they're down to 17.00 Was trying to help a new person to the FP get some, but that was a ridiculous price. Do you have a link to the ones you got cuz I'm not seeing em.

Red pepper type hot causes me too much pain in my mouth hole to be able to enjoy it.
Now some horseradish on a nice steak is great.
If you want the flavor but not the heat you might wanna try Frank's red hot. It'll get hot if it sits for a long time, ( i bought a 1/2 gallon of it, and didn't use it quick enough) but when it was fresh I even at it on crackers just for the flavor, and I don't like super hot stuff.

Too late... How do I get my big toe out of my left nostril?
plug up the other nostril and blow really hard, it'll pop out! Or your head will explode, one or the other.

I got my tablet, cover, & stylus from Santa Sister. And my Vape Bank order, which was 3 Stingray X's, some battery boxes, some of the small plastic KF tanks, & 3 KKGNano quartz kits. All but one Stingray is going in the vapocolypse stash. The one mod is going to my nephew, along with a KF & a Magma. He is an RN & stopped vamping because HHEat St Likes said it didn't, look good. Now he's smoking again. Pisses me off.
kewl!! I'd love to get a tablet. Or if my son can find his larger old cell phone, to get that in service. Really hope this will work for you nephew. Hate that he went back to smoking.

I am tired of this stuff (5 letter substitute for a 4 letter word) and have decided enough is enough and am going to take this as an opportunity to wean myself off the damn things.
That's a great thing, and we will certainly support you all we can!! You know we're here for you sweetie!! But.....definitely call your doc in VA and ask her about weaning off, and the best way to do it! As Mary said, keep a close eye on your blood pressure. When I went off of hydrocodone, the hyperalgesic pain caused by the hydrocodone went away, but the pain from my injuries increased of course. After a few weeks it either lessened, or my brain just got used to the increased pain. I still have a lot of pain that isn't controlled, but you just learn other ways to manage it.

I don't know it's becoming more and more mainstream. Specially down here in South Florida. Even have juice commercials on local TV.
that's wonderful!!

I've been considering getting Dish or Directv but this latest mess has me about convinced...they can't be any worse!
Didn't think you could get dish or direct where you are now, but I sure hope you can get something that works better!! You need to check with a doc about that headache. I get one there when i have a cold etc, but that's been going on for a long time now, and getting worse it seems. Since you're not one to complain a lot about pain, you should get it checked, may have some type of infection. A sinus infection should cause pain in the front and around the eyes, but could be an ear infection or something hun

But, But.... the FDA approved it for children,
that's unbelievable!

Damn Knee jerk politicians up here have passed laws so it is nearly impossible to get pain pills for those of us who need them.
JUP!!!! bastids!! It's nearly impossible to get here. Where I go now, there is a sign on the door that says they won't prescribe it for any reason. But he did mention last time about getting me into a different pain clinic about 30 minutes away that will prescribe if they can't control the pain any other way. So I need to get back in touch with him about that referral. Was giving a new med some time to see if it would work, but it's not doing much.

One question she had: How do you pause it? :) I lifted the Cue lever, music stopped, and she said: "But does it go back to the same place in the song?" Kids these days!
that's hilarious!! but great she knew what they were. How old is she?

I am a woman of many talents. It takes a special kind of talent to lost a box mod in the house. :-x
I do it all the time. The last one I lost was while I was in my dining room. Found it two months later in the library.
