You and I tend to have similar tastes regarding vaping gear, except that one-battery mods are not for me. I just made my first purchase from Perry.... a Q Mini. It arrived yesterday. I like it as much as I liked the Q Class, and it is so much better thought out than the G Class, in my opinion. Here it is, dressed up in Christmas colors.

Yep those are really cool. I really like the battery setup and the form factor. I think the G is ok and works well on TC but like you say not very well thought out. That Qmini is a great looking mod and I'm sure it works perfectly on TC. Oh and I'm like you in the fact I do like 2 battery mods for the battery life but I like the fact that with a 1 battery mod you don't have to have 4 batteries tied to just that particular mod. I really do like that Qmini though. I think that new MX will be a big seller also but the Qmini is the one I would choose also. Don't need 200w 75w is plenty but its nice not having to change batteries only maybe every 2-3days. I've gotten so used to using the G tho that it just comes natural now. It was a little odd at first.

I don't remember if I said anything but this Peaky Blinders is pretty interesting. You have to give it a season, or at least I did to get what is going on. Now can't stop.
I've watched that one. Have to start on the new season.

Well I decided that I would move these Cyberknife treatments out another week. We have 2 weather systems moving in supposed to get snow today heavier tomorrow heaviest on Friday. They don't really do much to the roads out here when school is not in session and tho I could probably make it today the rest of the week looks bad and not going to chance it. I was all in the mindset to get this done but not worth risking our lives to get there 50 miles away. They are wide open as far as their schedule so last 4 days of next week and then Monday. They should have the roads cleaned up by then. This kind of sucks cause I was ready to do this but they just came out with this winter storm warning and don't want to get 1 and then have to wait till next week to do the rest.
Com playing catch up after being out a couple of days, but I've been thinking of you, Legs. Glad you decided wait till the weather clears! Procedures are stressful enough without stressing out just to get there.

@bigbells / @Semiretired ... I posted this over in the lounge but probably should have done it here. I'm curious as to your 'take' on this. And since you don't/rarely venture over there, I've quoted the post here.

Subject: Measuring Cups

Ok ... "who/when/why" did a 1 cup measuring cup become 250 ml.
  • For 'ever' a 1 cup measuring cup was defined as holding 8 oz's of liquid (water).
  • 1 oz = 29.57 ml
  • 1 cup = 8 oz
  • hence it should be 236.56 ml NOT 250 ml
Janet has 2 sets of no-name/no-brand measuring cups. They are marked:
  • 1 Cup / 250 ml
  • 1/2 Cup / 125 ml
  • 1/3 Cup / 80 ml
  • 1/4 Cup / 60 ml
Which is inconsistent If I divide 250ml (1 cup) by 2 I get 125ml <-- Ok that makes sense for 1/2 cup if you accept a cup is 250 ml.

But, divide 250 by 4 for a 1/4 cup you get 62.5, not 60. Going the other way multiply 60ml by 4 you get 240 ml. So 4 measurements with the 1/4 cup gets you 240 ml for a cup, not 250.

Have the Chinese foster this new math on us?

Now, her Kitchen-Aid brand measuring cups got it right. They are marked as:
  • 1 Cup / 237 ml
  • 1/2 Cup / 118 ml
  • 1/3 Cup / 79 ml
  • 1/4 Cup / 59 ml
I'll assign the math for the Kitchen-Aid values as an exercise for the reader.

I know cooking recipes are not an exact science. My grandmother never had a 'marked measuring cup'. Her cup was whatever cup she took from the cupboard).

Am I the only one who has noticed this?
Am I the only one who cares?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I would presume that the 5% difference in the measuring would make little difference in a recipe so they have adopted the 250ml for simplicity sake. Most people can handle using 250 in a case where they might multiply for a larger recipe, but would be more confused by the 237...

I use my breadmaker on a regular basis, don't even buy bread. I am amazed at how little a difference in the amount of water I use can cause problems. Better for it to strain and stop a couple of times than fall during baking because of too much.

I totally understand and agree it doesn't make a hoot when it comes to mixing recipes. To me it's the principle of the thing. What happens when I try to teach my grandkid that 4 scoops from a 'quarter cup' cup equals 1 cup. Then he/she said but a 1/4 cup is 60 ml and 4 times 60 equals 240 but the 1 cup says it holds 250ml. It's the youth I'm thinking of ... protecting the youth is important ... don't you pay attention to the vape chatter for new laws and regs. Got to protect the youth. ;)

I've never seen such measuring cups... that's pretty inaccurate. In many instances the difference is too small to matter.

Side note: you said you originally posted your message over in the Lounge. Is this not the Lounge?

Ty. I couldn't even make it thru Fargo although I thought that it was well written. I do enjoy time period pieces, perhaps I can FF through some scenes.
There's a lot of gratuitous nudity & sex,, too. Just be aware. I haven't gone blind, tho I don't think it adds to the story.

Most (not all) youth of today have trouble with math and you know it. I mean have you ever had an item cost $8.11 and you tell the cashier - wait - I have a penny. They get confused. Most (again not all) will never notice the 240ml vs the 250 - they will just accept it. The ones that do notice it will understand it is for the ones that do not...

Hey did you hear the latest - some states are bringing back cursive writing - so the youth can sign contracts...

oops! Here I was making a post about accuracy and I wasn't being accurate myself ... should have said 'Lounge Lizards ...' thread. I tend to think of this thread as the Back Porch and the other as just the 'Lounge' even though they're both in the Lounge Forum area.
