We picked up our new chickens today…well chicks…3 blond sex-links and 2 Delawares! They're 1 week old. We still have two hens from the last batch. We lost the other two one to old age and the other to how knows.

Well, one of my local news stations is at it again. Anti vaping - citing studies that say just the opposite of what the overall community reports... They have had a few in just the last week or so. I kind of wonder what brought this out again...
that's horrible. Here we're getting a message that says the FDA is requiring the big 3 tobacco companies to put the ads out saying that Nicotine is so addictive and was added to cigarettes to make them addictive. while sorta true, it's making nicotine out to be the horrible thing in cigs.......not the 4,000 or so other chemicals they put in em. No mention of those.

EDIT: I FOUND IT :):):). It was in the trash. I think what happened was I must have put it in the plastic bag with my purchases and I emptied it above the trash container (don't ask me why) so when it dropped out into the trash container it didn't clank.
glad you found it. Just love what y'all do with raising the butterflies, and kewlios on yur chicks.

Mike and I just sent our spit away to Ancestry.com.
I wouldn't have chosen ancestry (and realize y'all didn't either) but like y'all, my nephew started buying kits from them for some family members. He has a kit over there for me to spit in whenever I can get over there to do it.

For those of you that remember this precious little puppy

I just LOVE this goofy little man!
awwwwwwwwwww miss the lil puppy! Thanks for the pic!

I'm sure that at some point the procrastination gene will be discovered, and it will be determined that I have it in spades.
laugh cute puppy laughing.gif

Too bad ya don't live closer! I have a lovely dark blue fabric recliner dat was used fer one month. My girls don't have room fer it...

It's now a collection point fer Patty's 'health accessories' near her leather 'home nest'...

Will give it to any porcher/porcherette dat will pick it up!
wish I were close enough......but not just cuz of the recliner. :D I have been using my sil's wheelie walker thingy for awhile. She doesn't need it and doesn't have room for it in her house, but want one cuz eventually she'll want it back. Still need to get a good shower chair and a few other things.

Omg he's beautiful! I have a rescue GSD mix - just today he was sedated and tested for possible autoimmune whatever because I cannot tell you how much $$$ I've spent on random issues over the past few years but this past 6 weeks had been really bad. I'm broke and selling stuff just to pay for that procedure [emoji22][emoji22]

wow, really hope they figure out what is wrong, and can fix it with meds or something!

Yeah, clearly not ideal, but the price was right.

when he got the first one, that was really the only one you heard of. But yeah there are better ones out now. But best to stick with what you start with I reckin.

Oh that's a tough situation with your dog ... good luck. Our last dog had multiple health issues and the monthly med's were pretty dang pricey. The alternative to the monthly expensive was to put her down. We couldn't to that. The meds let her live a good life, so we found the money 'till her time came to an end. Still miss her.
I hear ya. That is all going to come down to what the lab results are, and how much (if any) the maintenance will be. If we start getting past the 3 digits mark, I don't know what I'm going to do. Vet is guessing he's got some kind of autoimmune disorder that could be 'controlled.' Does anyone want to buy a 2008 Ninja 250 with ridiculously low miles... (not even joking). I'm in CA :)

I've been thinking a long time about doing it. Then our genealogy cousin mentioned that her husband, Mike's cousin, got his back with mostly Polish and only some German which shocked us. Obviously the Polish was from his mother's side while his father's side is German. The genes don't come through even. So, that got us to thinking and I ordered the kits. Now I'm excited to get it back. It takes 2-3 months - not fun.
DH and I want to check our backgrounds. We know he has Swiss, German, Cherokee and English. I'm supposed to be half Greek and half French but my Greek from my father's side comes from a Greek colony in Turkey a few generations ago and I'm curious what a search will find.

So which one should we go with?

My heart goes out to you. You don't know this but I worked in the veterinary profession for almost 18 years until I retired almost 4 years ago and I can tell you that these autoimmune things are really tough to treat. What actually happens is that badically the body attacks itself. And if you decide that you are unable to continue treating it due to cost…which can be considerable…have a frank discussion with your vet. He or she may be willing to discount the treatment.

I'm sure you have already thought that you may need to consider euthanasia if he or she is unable to do so. I know this is a hard thing to face and I can't tell you how often we had to have that discussion with our clients. It was never easy. But, please know, that if it comes to that, it will not be a bad decision nor will making it makes you a bad mom. There are worse fates than death.

Good luck with whatever choices you must make.

All of our furniture is from days gone by. Our newest piece of furniture is from the late 80's to early 90's. When I look to replace what we have (and we do want to replace some) it is hard since the quality is just not there anymore...
That's why we love antique furniture. Of course true antiques can be quite expensive…sigh :(

Uh, to Peaty and Ellie??

Mmmm....lunch? ;)

That's what popped into my head...
Oh you guys…not funny;) although I must say that, if Ellie was allowed outside, she would be the typical cat that brings you all these animals she has hunted and killed.

@LyLyV after I posted above I started thinking that what I said might upset you and I assure you that was not my intent. Ending our pets' lives is a very hard thing to do under any circumstances. I just wanted to give you my perspective…from an insider sort of speak .

And I forgot to say before I admire your commitment to your friend to do whatever you are able to do.

I think I may have told this here before...;) When I was a youngster, we were temporarily staying in my Grandmother's house. She had a beautiful canary.....I had a beloved Siamese cat, so...the bird cage was placed up on a high mantel over the fireplace....thinking it would be safe there... One evening, as we were all sitting there, my cat sauntered into the room, and right in front of us all...one giant leap...swiped open the cage door and came down with the canary in her mouth...

I think I remember this story. The canary survived, didn't he?

No... Grandmother got the canary away from her almost immediately. Not a bite mark could be found, nor a drop of blood...poor little thing must have just been scared to death...

They had a nice nap after we brought them home and then went about discovering their feeder and waterer!

Peanut! We named her that because she's a little smaller than the rest. In the first photo she's in the middle.

Just dropped by and saw this precious picture of your new chicks!

I'm actually watching regular TV and am delighted with the movie 'Pan' on BBAC.....don't even mind the commercials......hey, it gave me the chance to post here about your sweet newcomers.

But with that, I bid you all a sweet sleep!
