perhaps I should have been more specific. It is the obsession with those thoughts that can be stopped. My bad.

I am getting my first chemo today, and am confident that they have a plan in place in case I start going into anaphylactic shock. Yes my fear. I need to ask.
Do you just have to have 1 per week? That's what SIL had she had stage 4 breast cancer tho. Everyone is different with side effects. The first one probably won't bother you much because you body is in good shape blood wise, Its after a few treatments cause each one kills more and more cells, some are bad cells some are good cells and are a byproduct of it making you better. Take a good book or music.

Yes you don't want anaphylactic shock, that's how I lost my legs I had that reaction to an infusion.

Well Alexa just got better at least for me. She now connects to Apple Music which I subscribe to and they have a speaker system with 2 self powered speakers and a downfiring subwoofer. It ain't cheap tho. $329 for the setup but makes for a great little home stereo system. Speaking of Alexa heard from Iffy lately? He probably goes to Willies thread. I don't go there much because it is mostly stuff that is feel good stuff and I don't feel good a lot.

Haven't heard for Iffy for a few days. And no, he doesn't drop in on Willie's thread. If you need some cheering up, drop over there. He just posted his Year end re-cap video from last year and a new one for these year. Lots of wonderful pictures from folks on the threads.

Ya know I am really afraid of what the future holds. I don't know if I will be able to handle it. I hope I will but what if I can't?

Patrick, ever hear of the 'dash'? It's that lil' hyphen twix the year of birth and 'time of moving on'. We all know when we entered this sojourn, but no one knows when we'll take the 'off ramp' for an eternal rest.

So what you must do, for you AND Ginny, is to focus on the 'dash! Keep in mind how she has rallied and 'surprised' you thus far. Remember all of your doubts/worries/fears? Well, my dear friend, it's time to push all that aside for now and focus on the HERE and NOW for her!

You two have beautiful families with striking children and gorgeous grand babies. Push yourselves and them to the forefront. Don't regret later what you can accomplish in the HERE and NOW. Can't think of two more beautiful smiles than the ones you captured with Ginny and the g-baby! That's your ongoing goal for now...

The doctors will do what they think they must, and TBH, what can you really do on that end?

Remember, live that 'dash'!

Never got invited...

Man Ginny got some caramel bars at Costco and they are amazing. The bottom layer is like a type of homemade shortbread then a layer of the creamiest caramel I have ever tasted, it doesn't stick to your plates and it is not super sweet then a layer of milk chocolate. Talk about decadent, these are so good except for possibly making you sick by eating too many they are addictive. If you go to Costco see if you can find them, I'm sure they are a seasonal thing so first come first serve. Each layer is about 3/8 of an inch thick.

Whoa! This is amazing. I was just watching a video about making these. They're called Millionaire Bars. 2 days later my daughter texted that she was going to try to make these and posted the recipe. And here you are posting about them! I've never had them. Looks like I need to make some of these quick!!

We are both concerned about these 10 radiation treatments to her brain. While it is good for preventing this cancer from sneaking back to the brain there are also concerns about side effects. I'm sure if you let the doc know about our concerns with it she will say things will be fine but of course that doesn't make it any less concerning. I'm also sure that others had the same concerns.

You're right to find out all you can about them and the side effects to make an informed decision. And who knows, it might put your mind at ease. All this sounds so scary unless you have a medial degree so people should expect you to be asking a lot of questions. They should want you to understand as much as you can.

Well from what I've read it can cause short and long term memory loss in some cases. We understand the reasoning and it does make sense. Don't need that crap in your brain

I have to admit, that is one of those cases in which I would look for outside help. Not necessarily on the internet.

A friend recently was telling me about those Millionaire bars and sent me the recipe for my hub who likes both caramel and chocolate. It's from the Food Network. I think I'll use a 9x13 pan because I only have one 8x8 pan. They may be a bit thicker.

Millionaire's Shortbread Bars

Shortbread:
2 sticks butter, cut into small pieces, plus more for preparing pans
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for preparing pans
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Caramel Layer:
2 (14-ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter

Chocolate Topping:
3/4 pound good-quality milk

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 2 (8-inch) square nonstick pans and coat with flour, tapping off excess. Place the flour, sugar and salt in a food processor and pulse once. Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles peas. Press the shortbread mixture into prepared pans and bake until golden brown around the edges, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Caramel Layer:
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the condensed milk and 2 tablespoons of butter. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously. Continue stirring over the heat until mixture becomes thick and amber in color, about 15 minutes. Pour the caramel over the cooked shortbread and spread evenly using an offset spatula. Cool to room temperature.

Chocolate Topping:
In a glass bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate. Once chocolate has melted, pour it over the cooled caramel layer. Cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, and then place in the refrigerator to cool completely, allowing chocolate to slightly harden but not get hard. Cut into 2-inch squares and enjoy, or store in an airtight container, at room temperature, or my favorite - keep in the refrigerator for a yummy sweet and cool treat!

Yes we are going to talk to them about this. If it will increase her life expectancy then that is a biggie. It's just har.aakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkd for me to realize she is as sick as she is. She does really well. I don't know how she does it. I am honestly not sure she realizes how bad this type of cancer is. I am not going to break her bubble. Because she gets into remission the probability of it returning with a vengence is very high. Maybe she understands how bad this cancer is. It's one of the worst as far as it's returning. It's the one that is directly linked to smoking. There is no cure, remission is the best you can hope for. I just feel like he is very pessimistic about life expectancy but that is the way he is. He doesn't try to make you feel like you're possibly getting better.,I see changes in her more and more and it hurts bad. We planned on enjoying our retirement for as long as it lasts, but he gave her 9 months to a year. She is not ike the woe is me type person. She is strong and very upbeat. I've been trying to get her to stop vaping but she says " Hey I;ve got this so whats it going to do kill me. She is only vaping 2mg juice or less but I know it is irritating her lymphnodes. She stopped smoking cold turkey the day of her diagnosis and hasn't gone back even once.

Evidently there are several recipes out there for this treat which is a testament to how good it is. I watched a video on America's Test Kitchen when they made it and the ingredients were basically the same. They lined the pan with foil that extended past the sides to act as a sling for getting it out of the pan easily. And when they removed the shortbread from the oven they used a spatula to press down gently all over it, I guess to compress it so it doesn't crumble after it's cut. They didn't use the food processor to mix the dough, but I'd think that would be a lot faster and easier.

I agree that attending a support group would definitely be best, but when mobility (especially in the winter) is an issue online would be the next best thing.

The one we got used a different caramel then normal, it doesn't stick to your teeth and it sort of harden slightly and it is not as sweet but really good, the chocolate also hardens some but very bitable. They don't call them millionaire bars but sound the same, they call them chocolate, caramel, shortbread bar. Sounds the same tho.
