Yep they are going to have me set up with home health care and therapy. I'm out of here tomorrow for sure. Man I am ready, 1 month in here is enough. Dang I was doing a stand and pivot from my wheelchair to my bed and somehow I hit the 1 really slippery spot on the floor and started turning around and she got me back to the chair but in the process I used my left arm which has a 1 lb weight limit on it, I tweeked it and dang does it ever hurt now. Got another 45 min to pain pills so I have ice on it which does help. I have to be so careful about it and it just is so natural to use it, it's almost impossible not to use it but I usually catch myself. I got busted with my Orion night before last so I sent it home with Ginny for one day got it back now. It was a stupid mistake. We have a new nurse on night shift and he is kind of an ahole. He saw it and said what is that, I said I'll send it home with my wife which I did. I didn't specify a time limit. I think he has tonight off, or at least I hope. This little Orion is the slickest little mod for stealth or for throwing in your pocket to go somewhere close. I didn't think I would like it but with some high nic juice mine is 30mg it works slick. I have no idea how many tanks I have run through it so far but still working great. I've got 4 more pods at home. So will have it set up for occaional vaping but will also be nice to get back to my regulars. I have a friend going to come over and put an handrail on the stairs on the right side also which I'm going to need. Well talk later. Can you tell I'm excited to get out of here?

Good to hear ... now you take it slow and easy around the house when you get home. Spend your time in the kitchen eating ;)

Oh yeah one other thing. They came around and asked if they can give up Tama Flu even tho they know we have had our shots this is preventive because one person in here may have been exposed to the flu.

OH BOY!!!
Just what I need.

Go for it. 'Cause you don't!!

Legs I've stayed out of this convo mostly but I consider 10.5 hours per week and fairly regular hospital stays (love those ambulance rides) for my dead kidneys to be my current and forever job. I don't like it, I'll never recover from it and I don't get two weeks paid vacation in Aruba or even more than 8oz of any beverage I choose per day. Nobody else is going to fill my slot so I might as well do the job.

Your aide team, has a job. It's just a job. They don't cook the food you don't like but they do have to serve it. Your doctors and nurses have a job. It's just a job. They don't like to cause you pain but they spent a lot of time in a hospital learning how to alleviate the leftover pain they can't fix because some fat, sweaty, ignorant politician in DC knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy who can get some of the "good stuff" for his ""BFF"" in exchange for the pictures. It's just a job. Currently you have a TWO NEW JOBS . Your first new job is to become well and functioning. You do this by following directions from doctors and nurses. Your second new job is to help Ginny during her journey. Your job DOES NOT include making decisions for her, apprising her of how she feels or making suggestions to her doctors and nurses based on how the outcomes affect you. And.........................I'm out again.
Well @lulu836 I agree with you 110%. I have noticed that there are a few aides that really put their heart into their job. There are several of them here. I always tell them whatever they are paying you it is not enough. They don't have a degree in medicine but I have maybe 4 like that here and the nurses I have about 3 out of maybe 7 that understand what you are saying and honestly care. When I first checked in here they didn't get my Rx's in and I was having a heck of a time. 1 stayed for an hour after her shift was over just to get a couple of them straightened out so I would have them. Take this morning for instance, I have an aide who is around 6' tall talks really tough but she is one of the best, they know that and really pile on the work, by the end of the week you can see it wearing on her. She doesn't fool around. She does her job and about 2 more. Definately a no nonsense gal. This place is so different from when I was in here 11 years ago. The only thing I don't like here is the food and it is absolutely terrible. I don't know how this cook does it but he ruins everything; and it is not the non use of spices. But other then that I would definately recommend this place for what they say they are a Bridge between hospital and home. As far as doctors I've only seen him once on the first day I was here and my surgeon also once at a follow up appt. But there are as far as aides are concerned, which is what I have the most contact with, they have several here who I have gotten to know pretty well and really appreciate their help.

Ginny told me I have to stay in the bed, not allowed to move. She was kidding but I still can't walk much at all. It will come in time. I am hoping Ginny is going to try to come here. We go about 1" of snow this morning and the high is going to be 23. She doesn't like driving in the snow and I obviously can't will have to just wait. Haven't talked to her yet today.

Well I'm home now and have been for about hours. It feels good but also strange. This is the longest I have sat up in over a month. Like I say it feels good but also I'm sort of apprehensive. I'll get over that. Have tried real hard not to be a PIA to Gin. She is making us dinner now and looking forward to food that tastes like it looks. It's weird I almost feel a little scared of not having nurses 24 hours a day but that will pass. My doggie finally has stopped licking me and have sat in my chair since I got home Ginnie looked like she needed the bed worse then me.

Excellent! Can you get some kind of brace or something to keep you from using that arm?
Please be careful! I know how ready you are to get home. There comes a point where you don't feel like you can progress there, & you need to be at home for an atmosphere to promote continued healing. Congratulations!

Be glad it's not measles. We have 5 cases in Houston now. We had ours, too, but I'd take the Tamaflu in case it's a different flu what ours covered.

Exactly Kenna, the first 3 weeks I felt like I was where I should be but the last week I felt more and more like I should be home. All I was doing was laying in their bed and the aides were more like waitresses to get me coffee and lunch, such as it was. I was just wasting space.

Wow watching this show on S Korea in this little village where the woman dive for Conch. The average age of the good divers is 50-70 and 1 is 94 and still diving. This is without tanks. The 94 year old is not as fast as she used to be but she says on land she has some problems moving but underwater it is easy. She can't hold her breath for over 2 minutes anymore but she still does a good job of it. WOW

I agree I can't even imagine holding my breath for 2 minutes let alone diving to the depth they do and they do it all day. It's how they make their money. On land she looks like a little old woman underwater she looks like the pro that she is. Amazing

I used to practice holding my breath in high school (when I should have been studying). I found that (naturally) I could hold it longer if I hyperventilated first. What I thought was interesting was that if I repeated this (hyperventilating and then holding my breath as long as possible) each repetition let me hold my breath for longer and longer. By the third or fourth repetition I could reliably hold my breath for upwards of three minutes. Note that this was sitting, resting my head on my hands, and elbows on the desk. As relaxed and motionless as possible (while looking like I was reading a book); I wasn't conch-diving. (And I wasn't thinking; if I actually read the book I was looking at it drastically shortened my times. Thinking burns oxygen at a great rate. I couldn't even look at my watch; I had to start on an easily-remembered moment and check the watch AFTER I took a breath.)

My best ever (and only once) was four minutes and seventeen seconds, although I got over four minutes several times. The usual was three and some. These days (after 40+ years of heavy smoking) I can barely make two minutes reliably even with several cycles of preparation. And as a teen-ager, trying to hold my breath while swimming never let me hold my breath nearly as long. Those conch-divers really ARE amazing. There are also pearl-divers elsewhere in Asia (Japan and the Philippines), also mostly women, and not young ones.

Our daughter just told us that Gone With The Wind is going to be celebrating it's 80 year anniversary by playing in some theaters on 2 days - Friday Feb 28 and Sunday March 3. I just got us tickets for the March 3 matinee. If you're interested you can go online and find out where it'll be playing near you. I forgot that it was 4 hours long! Hopefully we can sit in the very back and stealth vape.

Hey Guys, Ginny found a Series on Netflix and waited till I was home to watch it. It's only one season and you have to read subtitles but I think all of you would like it. It's in whatever language of the country they are in for that episode. I'm only up to Episode 3 but it is really good and different. The name of the Series is Dogs and each episode is about the life of a dog at home and how much they are part of the family they live with. I think it is really good and I think a lot of you would too. Check it out. "Dogs". Netflix. It is also about different stuff, you watch it and see what you think.
