Good Sun. morn...or is it Sat....maybe Mon.?...I'm confused....I woke up from a sweet dream cuz I was freezin"... immediately thought the furnace died again( the maintenance man is way less than competent..and not too smart, if he'd fix what's broke the first time he wouldn't have to come back over n over) It took him around two hours last weekend to get here so I immediately thought it'd take him as long or longer on this Sun, morn. and I was dreading being freezing all day)
Luckily for me all I had to do was turn up the heat....but now I'm wide awake..so I guess i'll get to doing some thorough cleaning ( after I've had about three cups of coffee...or more) as my Sis n her hubby will be here tomorrow for an over-nighter..she's allergic to cats n dogs and I don't want to be guilty of her getting sick when she gets to Cal. to visit our other Sis for a week.

( I have to keep stopping to correct my spelling...need more coffee!!!!)

.. in fact, wages have declined, not gone up .. yet, we live in an age where on one hand, the Powers that Be talk about helping the worker, which should mean money / benefits .. at the same time Union busting tactics, Unions being the last refuge of the worker, continue ..

Companies want / need to make a profit .. Workers need / want to make a fair living .. but until regular people are able to elevate themselves into what we used to call the Middle Class, buy a Home, and be able to afford at least a modest lifestyle, it's a "dog chasing it's tail" scenario .. yes, we need to make more goods in this country .. those making the goods must be paid Middle Class money .. and, we must be willing to pay for those goods as Consumers, because they will cost more .. it's easy to close a Factory and move it overseas .. it's hard to take the time, and it will take time, to rebuild Factories and pay Middle Class money, which eventually, will filter thru the Economy and make it grow .. Unfortunately, we've become accustomed to low cost / Made in China / etc .. because, as wages eroded, it's all we could afford ..

i would add the Ceo's are overpaid.
i always view a company that 'lays off staff' as a weak company,,,,,,,surely their is some other work that needs to be done.... tie up loose ends,, cleaning up,, applying the extra manpower to 'the next big thing' projects.

Thank ye all for resurrecting the Back Porch, I missed it and it is truly an excellent social forum for us, how shall I put it; oldies, I was searching the forum and trying to figure out what happened to it. This time I have marked it as a watched thread so I do not loose it again. Using Google ('amazon locker'), found two in my vicinity; one in a mall and da other out front of a 7-11.
