There's a Volvo TV ad with lines from a Walt Whitman poem: "Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road..."

I thought the guy reading the poetry was John Corbett, the DJ on the TV series Northern Exposure. But no, it's Josh Brolin.

Anyway, since when is car travel "afoot"? I demand logic from TV commercials and my demands are seldom met.
And what the hell is a "long brown road" (aren't roads black, at least any that I would drive my $90K Volvo on) and how come nobody shaves anymore? Only thing missing is a damn man bun!

I'm not sure if the pic shown on the fb page showing one egg last night was from this year....if the new female is young that's all there may be this year. I too have watched this cam from the very first and was broken hearted when someone shot and killed Mrs. T, the female, a few months ago. So happy that Mr. T has found a new mate and guided her to this safe nesting place...
Well, that just broke my heart. Why on Earth would someone shoot a Great Horned Owl - this is beyond my comprehension. Glad the male was able to find a new mate and that she seems to have accepted the usual nesting spot. Looking forward to watching the cam and wishing them good luck and safety this year.

Hey Matt you just reminded me of that show so I put it on my Trakt list. Think I'll start at episode 1 If I remember right it was supposed to be in Alaska but was actually filmed in a little place here in WA.

Couldn't stand the other avatar anymore. Will change it again tomorrow or next day when I get new ankles.
Just the wait for those new ankles and the anticiapation on how they are going to work and all the postpnements would get anyone down, legs.

Haaaaa!
I worked for an answering service many moons ago with those !

We actually met at a playground which happened to be alongside of a friends house. We were standing out front when Mike drove up in his Dodge Dart. Got a call from him a couple days later and the rest is history.

I worked at an answering service for a few weeks in the early 70's that had a literal switchboard. Headset, plug in, flip the switches to answer. We had to write down the messages & then type them up. The owner ran the business in her home from her bed. She'd had terrible RA from childhood & been in a car accident on top of it.

Yep, I was a real Lily Tomlin except my board had a lot more phone lines than hers had! it was located in my employers home. One time, when working alone in the house I heard a noise from the basement. Looked out the windows and couldn't see anything so I called the police. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door and there were the police with the oil delivery guy. I felt so sorry for the guy, but I couldn't see a truck from the house. 2 years later my I was stuck on the side of the road when a guy stopped to help. Turned out it was the oil delivery guy!!

Best Kitchen Supplement EVER!
Read the single 'customer' review. 8-P

That's hilarious! Every once in awhile there are some great reviews. I read one about some foot warmer slippers. Have to see if I kept it somewhere. It was at least as good as this one.
Alessondra's OKC Great Horned Owl-Cam......has just gone live

If you're not familiar with the back story for this cam, I invite you to look for Alessondra's FB page.....it all started a few years ago, with a very young girl rushing downstairs to tell her Daddy there was an owl outside her window...:)

I was obsessed watching this cam a couple years ago. They do a great job with their cameras and I liked the running commentary they had on the side.

I demand nuttin' from TV ads 'cause I can only appreciate da very lil' humor (only if creative, IMO), mixed wid a good dose of satire. All/most others are just pablum...

Oh Lordy, yes. Can't anyone do a men's clothing ad without the 5 o'clock shadow or the three day Yassar Arafat stubble. It makes them look like bums, not models.

I'm offended by the ones that claim "real people, not actors". Uh, actors are people, aren't they?

Yeah that and I hate asking people for help. Something I've always hated and it makes me so damned mad at myself that I can't just do it myself. That's what really gets me down.

I hear ya, leggzie! Even worseter. When you have to call someone and PAY them to fix something you used to be able to do. And actually LIKED to do. And watch them pretty much butcher the job. And still have to pay them.

Been thinking of a lot of old ones like Leave it to Beaver and All in the Family. There used to be a lot of good shows that didn't have to include everybody having sex with everybody else or killing each other. Used to be a lot of good ones even though they were censored to the maxx.

Amen! Hubby does everything, when we hear about how friends afar are truly ripped off it just irks us! And for schlocky work!

I'm pretty handy and resourceful myself. I learned good. ;)

That's why I love TCM, Pat. And there were gazillions of good tv shows. Combat. Life of Riley. I married Joan... the list goes on.
Now theres one I haven't thought of for a long time Life of Riley. I used to love Bonanza too, probably cause I got to meet all of the Cartwrights when I was a kid living at Lake Tahoe. The were all at Virginia City Days when we went there that year. Did you know the grassy field they come riding up on in the beginning was the Golf Driving Range at Lake Tahoe. I even got to shake Hoss's hand that was a biggie for me.
