Vape battery bursts into flames in dude's jacket
"According to an interview with Britel, he was carrying the spare vape battery in his pocket along with some loose change."
Evidently, Britel was not waiting for entry to a MENSA meeting...
ha,, he spent his 15minutes of fame showing the world how stupid he is.

ps,, welcome to the porch

pss,,,i am sure you already know this,, but just in case: all good dogs and cats / pets have pet humans they command over. in our case our dog is the proud parent of 2 pet humans :)

More likely in line for a Darwin award :)

Darwin is probably justifiably chucklin' in his grave! Me...

With all the discussion about pure breeds and mixed breed pets, thought I would add my :2c:

While there are, of course, breeders who breed strictly for show and ribbons which will bring them a higher price for pups, there are responsible breeders as well. My dog is the result of over 30 years of breeding by a friend who has since retired and that is a sad thing. Betsy never bred strictly for conformation, but for health and temperament as well. She loved the breed that had captivated her and worked towards producing dogs that were not only beautiful in the show ring, but healthy and even tempered as well...;)

i filled out my mail-in ballot today. will either mail it or drop it off tomorrow.

i campaigned for several candidates back in the 60's, but, as i've said before, i left my politics back in the 60's. this will be the first time i've ever voted.

thanks, Obama yiddle :)

Same with Geordi's breeder. 40 years in the breed, Geordi is from her 11th litter. She is a walking pedigree encyclopedia and knows the breed inside out. What health issues are where, temperaments, structure, overall health. When he is around 2, Geordi will get all his health tests/clearances. Hips, elbows, thyroid, heart, eyes. I have been saving up for it because it ain't cheap, but needs to be done. One of her top priorities is temperament, and Geordi is testimony to good breeding. Then structure because without good structure you are asking for health issues.

Regarding the guy in France whose battery caught fire in his pocket:

There but for the grace of god go I. I know not to carry loose batteries in my pocket but learned that decades ago via an experience with an alkaline AA battery that didn't do nearly as much damage as a lithium battery can do. I've done plenty of stupid things that COULD have killed me but didn't.

At the end of the article, the suggestion is made that the fault might lie with it being "a Chinese battery", which kind of missed the point that ANY battery is potentially dangerous.

I'm not going on my favorite rant about that point, but when one sees the shameful situation with Irish Setters, Golden Retrievers, and other breeds absolutely destroyed by the Ring I feel ashamed of my own species.

...there are responsible breeders as well.

I do ever so hope they are still around and have mentored their passion!

Cathy, what say you, considering your involvement?

I've had two mixed and one pure bred dogs in my life. All three were just absolutely priceless! Still miss my phurry phour legged phamily! And that includes my pheline phriends...

As I've posted before, I prefer the runt female of the litter. But at this stage in my winter years, I'm seriously considering adopting a senior canine. Would prefer a retired/drop out service dog; even if it requires medical expenditures.

<sigh...>

He's a boy and his name is Bodhi. He came from a ranching family south of us in San Luis Obispo. Ironically, he was the ugliest puppy I've ever seen; when I brought him home my wife took one look and said, "Are you sure he's pure Aussie?". :( She was not a fan. Of course, being a very smart dog, he cried that night until my wife got up and held him. He snuggled under her neck and promptly fell asleep.:hubba: He was immediately elevated to "The Most Perfect Dog in the World" status. Come to think of it, she kept me for pretty much the same reason...
Smart dog! ROFL!

Aussies are such great dogs. Our house dog, Austie, at the vet clinic where I worked was an Aussie. He belonged to my boss, the owner, but Austie adopted me and spent the day under my desk. The day he died, at a ripe old age of cancer, was one of the sadest days of my life.

That would be such a kind wonderful thing to do! All too often those senior dogs end up getting euthanized because so few people want to adopt them. Our clients who adopted seniors always said they were the best dogs - those older guys are so grateful to have a new home!

, most dobies are big ol teddy bears. Their rep comes mostly from movies, and they were used cuz they look like a lean mean killin machine. Don't get me wrong.......they are fierce when trained to be. But just normal pets that are well treated, are most always fantastic dogs. !
Yup, most dobbies we had as patients at our vet clinic were great dogs.

I know nothing about the show dog world so wont comment on that.
As for pet quality dogs, you are so right. The best breeders are those who breed for health and temperement.

What made all of us a the clinic cringe was the pet owners who decided they just had to breed their dog just once so the children could "experience the miracle of birth" thereby adding to the millions of dogs that need homes. Arghhhh!

Ok i'll get off my soapbox now.
