I'm so far behind, I don't think I'll ever catch up. Just popping in my head to say hello. I went to the other porch first and was totally confused as to why I couldn't post there. Then it hit me. Then I had to go back a page to get the link to this one. Oh well. Such is life's path.

All is well on this end. Life just has me running. I go to clean the house now.
Hey Lady! How's the new job going? Still liking it?

BEA..there's lotsa keys on my keyboard...and being pc illiterate..could you please tell me which one?
Most laptops have an on/off button or a switch, usually on the bar above the keys. On my laptop (an HP) the button is toward the left side of that bar. When wifi is enabled the button will be blue or the button will be in the On position. If you cant find it on yours, google the manual of its make and model. Manuals always have pictures pointing to all the buttons and their function.

I agree with others. There has to be support groups available. I know our daughter got a lot of comfort from talking to other wives while their husbands were deployed. It's a stressful time and she should take advantage of all the support she can get.

Well, you're looking at the difference between a professional politician and a businessman. This election is much more about long term changes - or not.

Listen to your bride!! Better to plant some flowering bushes like a nice hibiscus or something. I just had to bring mine in because the nights were getting too cold. It's blooming beautifully but dropping leaves like crazy, but I'm going to try to hold it over the winter. Live stuff is much better than plastic!
I totally agree but, it doesn't have near the effect that a couple of pink flamingos on the lawn will have on the Zippy the Pinhead president of the neighborhood association. He is a died in the wool ahole who is overawed bybhis own perceived importance.

Hi all. Things are really hopping around here. We have a website: Home ~ S.K. Nicholls Author
Drop by and browse around. Lots of good stuff there. I want to thank @clnire for the lovely review. There are nine five stars and I am thrilled. The team we pulled together for marketing and PR really has me working hard. It's hard to remember they work for me sometimes. Just completed ten interviews and five guest posts, have had one radio show and another is coming up next month.

I haven't been able to keep up with all the posting, but I come by to lurk occasionally. I've been touring Florida and meeting lots of Seminoles to get ready for writing my next book...if I can ever find time to write. I'll be back on here a bit more frequently when I find myself sitting in the desk chair again to do that. We are going to Sleuthfest in February and then off to Vegas for more research. ;)

I miss you all terribly (especially our chats in the HO...I've somehow lost that link) and was soooo glad the hurricane didn't hit as hard as it could have, but sad to see the damage in Flagler Beach/Palm Coast. A1A is open again. :) Glad to know @Flowersoul and family was okay.

@Debadoo You have a package coming soon.

Anybody who wants to check out the book can find it here:

I do a manual disc image at least monthly, to a normally disconnected USB hard drive. If it's not connected to anything, it can't be touched. And automatic file backup to two other usb drives weekly, of all the critical stuff. Yep, duplication is important.

And I agree whole-heartedly about the cloud. It will be hacked, no matter what they say. Or inaccessible due to a DDOS attack like earlier this week.

And, being way out in the sticks, I just can't see backing up half a gig over my slow dsl!!
Also great way to back up. There many ways to back up. The important thing is to do it regularly.

I know people who keep one back up on site and one off site - good idea because if the place burns down and back ups are on site they burn too. The reason I like two flash drives is because they dont take much space so I can keep them in my purse which goes everywhere with me.

A legend in his own mind. ;)

True story about my dad and neighborhood associations.

My Parents lived in a retirement community outside Phoenix called Sun City West. They had a lovely condo there with a draconian condo association. The association every year required people to come pick up paper bags, kitty litter and tea light candles and then line their street and driveway with these home made luminaries during the Christmas Holidays. Even I admit it looked lovely but dad resented the heck out being required to do it. SO he wouldn't. The association would then go out and put them out for him. He would pick them up and lock them in his garage. They would come out the next night and put more out. He would pick them up and lock them in his garage. The great luminary battle went on for YEARS. They would threaten him and he would say point out where it says I have to do this in the contract (it didn't). It was just this permanent battle over some silly luminaries.

Yeah stubborn runs in the family. ;)

I love a good mystery book. Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch is my favorite! The Bosch books have many of the same characters from one book to the next too - I love that! I need more. Your book sounds perfect. But I hope it's available in ebook because I haven't read paper books in years. Because I have to watch my pennies I borrow everything from the library Overdrive.

Go to Tools, Options. Once there, select Synch and set that up.

Or, to just export them to a file, go to Bookmarks, Show All. That will open another window of the "Library" where there's a button to Import/Export your bookmarks. :)
don't want to get too into it now, cuz I'm not ready to do it, and I will forget, but I am on Chrome, and when I go to bookmarks, I don't get a show all, but there is a think to import bookmarks and settings. So when I'm ready I'll check that out.

Of course there are many ways to back up pretty much everything on the cloud but I don't trust clouds or the companies that run them. For instance iphones have this app called Keychain for storing sensitive info and Apple says they cannot access it. I don't believe them. A good hacker can get into anything. Look what happened with Target, the DOD. I suggest that the best place for sensitive info, aside from paper files if you like those, is in your hot little hands.
I completely agree. I have taken the hard drives out of the two computers I've tossed cuz they were ancient. One was due to not wanting someone to get info off it. The other was for that reason, plus I have some things on there that one day I hope I can get off the hard drive.

And finally, if you're not on the internet, do yourself a favor and turn your wifi off. It's only one click right on your keybord but it will stop anyone from invading your computer at least when you are not using it.
duhhhhhhh never thought to do that. Great idea.

pics pics pics...please..please..please!!
hehehe I was gonna say that I had to wait to talk to dancin to make sure she didn't mind it being posted, but I see she already posted it. I wanted to get online when I got home, but was hurting too much so had to chill on the couch for awhile.

OMG, 260 messages behind! See y'all on the other side.
Glad y'all made it home!! I know y'all are worn out. Hope y'all sleep great! Was sooooooo incredible to get to meet you and get real life squeezes!! Great to meet your daughter and one of your grandsons too.

Zippy the Pinhead
lmao! that's hilarious. But sorry you have to deal with zippy!

that's the first one that has let me in when no one was in it, so I bookmarked it. It also pulled up with the old format instead of the beta one too!

For those who don't know........the lady in the middle is a dear friend of mine who lives about 40 minutes from me. She posted on the porches for a little while, so some may remember.......her screen name is @Atchafalaya and of course dancin on the left and me on the right. Dancin's daughter is a purple person too!

Good for him!!! I hate HOAs. A friend of mine who moved with her husband and lil girl to Corpus Christie, couldn't find a house they liked that wasn't in a HOA and she absolutely refused to buy one with an HOA. They lived in a Navy lodge for about 1.5 yrs. Ended up being good they didn't buy there, since they ended up not staying, but moving to Oregon to live near family. She said if she was gonna pay a few hundred grand for a house, she absolutely refused to do in a place that folks could tell her what she could do to it, and her have to pay them for the privilege!

Just not in a good place mentally right now
don't like this part. We're here if ya wanna talk hun. Phone, pm's whatever!

If it's by Connelly, I'll take it home without reading the cover blurb. It turns out is prefer the Lincoln Lawyer series, but any will do.

Thank you so much! Every one counts!!!! That was so sweet of you. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm trying to make time for writing the second in the series now that the first is off the ground, but marketing is time-consuming. I'll get there soon, though.
