We're only going to be in the 40s during the day around here and it feels awfully cold as well as damp. It's 16 where my daughter is in CO. Ugh! I'd rather just stay inside and bake cookies!

Cookies, me like cookies.

If given a choice twix da two locations, I'll take your daughter's location dis time of year!

In fact, I'll trade a 46°F here fer a CO 16°F in any season! And yes, humidly does hurt down here; just ask our SBs...

Patrick, don't go outside unless you absolutely have to!!! That's all you'd need is to fall and that bitter cold air can't be good for your lungs!

You're right about that. I was there once when it was well below freezing and it sure didn't feel like it to me. It's that dry air. We get to the low 40s here and it feels so much colder due to the dampness. Winter in CO is nicer too because they don't know what dirty snow is. I saw an 8" overnight snowfall disappear by 3:00 that afternoon! Amazing.

The saga of the house/money pit continues...
So today was the plumber's turn. What we thought was the main shut off only shut off part of the house. Plumber was going to shut off at the meter to replace some faucet shutoffs. The meter had a bad leak going, he said the shut off looked pretty sketchy and suggested I call the water company to have a look see, and let them shut it off. So I called, the guy came out, called in to schedule the repair and shut off the water(or so he said he did).

Plumber cuts into line under sink to start replacing shut off and I hear "Uh Oh that's not good" from under my kitchen sink. Ma'am could you call the water co back, tell them that the water was not shut off all the way. His helper is now charging back and forth emptying buckets full of water into the bathroom. Kid looked like he was running sprints.

Plumber gave me the choice of cutting the line in the crawl and flooding or flooding the kitchen, and I said do whatever you would do if it was your house so he headed for the crawl space to relocate the newly installed water feature to the crawl space. Water co finally came back out and ended the flood. Plumber went back to finding/fixing leaks and drips. Then had me call to get the water co to come turn on their leaky meter.

Then he went to check under the house for the minor leaks in a couple of the drain lines the home inspector had mentioned. "Ma'am I know you can't get under the house, but you might want to come lean down and look under the house. Your home inspector grossly understated the "minor" leaks he noted. Every time his helper turned on a sink or flushed a toilet it started to rain in the crawl space... sigh.

Just a little fixer upper.
While I was at my son's in Houston, he had a leak in his master bath shower. He had no idea where the cut-off was. His FIL had also looked and couldn't find it. How hard can it be to locate? I looked, poked, and prodded. No idea where it is or how to turn it off. When I got home he texted me and said the shower control fell off and the water was flooding. He called an after hours plumber and used the shower control that he had already bought and fixed the shower. Of course, it cost him just under $500 for the labor. Good news, he now knows where the water cut-off is located.
