To heck with the "holiday season"

Merry Christmas!!!!
Amen! and I refuse to shorten it to xmas, I don't worship an X. lol

Before we get too involved with the season, remember...

absolutely! Been on my heart all day. I watched a thing on the news about a survivor from the USS Maryland I believe it was. First time he'd ever been back. It was still so difficult for him. They said it's most likely that this will be the last gathering of any size of survivors at PH. They're pretty much all at least 90, some more.

Does that make me a Grinch?
newp. It can be fun putting it all up, sometimes that is a chore too. But taking it down is just plain chore. lol

Setting up two Amazon Fire TV Sticks
I shoulda know'd

I wound up spending $20.00 more for a Smart TV with all of my requirements.
that's fantastic! Glad you got what works for a decent price.

Serves loud drinks.

For Kenna

Yeah it's pretty crappy compared to this. I never realized how much till I got this setup. I could never hear what they were saying even with my hearing aids cranked I could only understand about every 3rd word.
I have to keep the captions on.......which kind of annoys others, and really annoys my gd. I try to remember to turn them off when they're here, but forget a lot. It's a lot more involved getting to them with direct than it was with dish or TWC. Also wish they had a "live" tv button, if you've paused it, to just immediately catch up to it being live.

I was out around 4:30 this morning and I was really happy that my dog was quick with her duty! I don't really care for winter.
Soooooooooooo glad that we have a fenced back yard! Just opening the door to let him out is bad enough.

Patrick, don't go outside unless you absolutely have to!!! That's all you'd need is to fall and that bitter cold air can't be good for your lungs!
I second this! worry a lot about Pat on the ice and snow

You're right about that. I was there once when it was well below freezing and it sure didn't feel like it to me. It's that dry air.
JUP. I was in Colo Springs one time and although the temp was low, snow on the ground (in April) I was shocked that it really didn't seem cold.

Another good one Dave, but I really like the P3P flight on 11/24 to the quarry.

I''l try to make this short as possible...

I met a farmer at a Sat. night get-together several months ago. After we both found out each other's love of flying, we spent most of the night talking and sippin' - and I even helped him smoke one of his expensive cigars. He told me he owned a 1946 Piper PA-12 and he'd take me up sometime... also said his computer needed work, so I gladly gave him a business card.

He called me last Friday morning and I went to his place that afternoon. After the computer work, we walked out back to a nondescript metal building, and inside was the most gorgeous old airplane I'd seen outside of an airshow... 70 years old but in immaculate condition -inside and out! He said it had won 'Best of Show' awards several times over the years. He also has a 2500 ft. grass strip through the middle of a huge field out back... push the plane out of the hanger, pivot it 90 degrees to the right, pre-flight check, fire it up, mag check, firewall the throttle, take off! He wanted to take me up, and I wanted to go, but didn't have time! It was a perfect day too - cool, calm, high cumulus clouds punctuating intense blue skies... sigh... We agreed to get back together soon - and I'll tell ya, today wouldn't be soon enough for me!

Between the time I met the farmer and the day I went to his place, I worked on a computer for a man at our local airport who is an Aircraft A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic. Turns out he's the mechanic for my new farmer friend - he did part of the restoration of the PA-12, and has done the Annual inspections and other work for years. He told me Mr. Farmer used to fly over his fields and take pictures with a 35mm camera, blow the pictures up and study the fields for problems---

BINGO! A perfect candidate to pitch for drone inspections of his fields!

Mr. Farmer and I talked about that and he seemed very interested. I told him I'd need to line up several farmers and enough work to make the investment worthwhile. That really piqued his interest. I can hardly wait to see where this goes...

X has been used as a symbol for Christ since ancient times. It is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ. Wait... the real news is that there's a word which you won't abbreviate.

Χριστός (Christós)

From Wiki:
There is a common belief that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas", but its use dates back to the 16th century.

Direct? You can use either of the fast forward buttons, one is fast, the upper on steps by about 30 seconds. With either, pressing more than once goes either faster or longer (more 30 second steps). Or, if you don't care about missing what was paused (ALL of it!), just change channels and go back to the channel you want. Real time re-appears. :)

Good news at the Dr office, glucose, a1c, and insulin are much better and triglycerides are normal.

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.
Great news, Russell!

Regarding commercial operation of drones: Fly for Work/Business

Non-commercial use is much easier and can be done instantly online, and costs $5: sUAS Registration

These snaps with my phone don't do it justice. It's gorgeous in person, and the interior is practically flawless too.

I edited -downsized- these and felt like I should 'white-out' the N number on the rudder while I was at it.

This Beaut has huge control surfaces, takes off at ~50 mph in only 720 ft., and is a 3 seater - one in front and two side-by-side back seats. He said you have to force it to do a power-on stall, and even then it don't want to... at full throttle slowly pull the stick all the way back and it just digs in and keeps on flying - nose up! Notice it has no flaps. If you come in too high or too hot, just 'slip' it. That's when you 'cross-control' it - push the stick to the right like you're turning right except use left rudder and push the nose down. You can shed a lot of altitude in a few seconds, and you have more (quicker) control than with flaps.
