Besides appreciation of da ol' craftsmanship, da possible stories/tales are also alluring! Have a very meager old keys collection I scraped up across Europe. What 'secrets' could they unlock...

In my younger years, as I traveled, although it was wrong to do, I "lifted" keys from Motels / Hotels as souvenirs .. I'm talking about the old school keys with the plastic fobs that had the name/address/mail back info .. way, way before door card keys .. the keys, which I still have, carry the Ghosts of all folks before me that used that same room key for whatever reason ..

I can also remember pulling up to the old filling stations and having to use the bathroom, asking for the key, and the Proprietor would lob a key chained to a tire across the counter ..

How I wish! Nowayears, my six packs have pop tops and a plastic ring 'round 'em...

Odd things always catch my eye

Willie and Zen; I thought about it, then thought about it some more, then thought about it again just before I posted, and I'm thinking/hoping you will share in the amusement that my odd brain found by selecting the opening words from your two posts.

Moving right along, here's a 4 year old wooden mod before and after 3 quick rubs with 50/50 VG/PG. I put about 3 ml of the VG/PG on a paper towel and rubbed it on the wood for about 30 seconds each time. Several hours between rubs and after the last rub, to allow the mod to dry completely. I don't know whether there's as much difference as there appears to be, because the "before" picture was taken at night with artificial light, while the "after" picture was taken with sunlight coming in the windows. No flash used for either picture. I'll take another picture in a day or two, after a few more rubs.

Using VG. VG... vegetable. Mold?
Wood polish. Umm... usually furniture is sealed with varnish, poly, whatever. So... how do you polish da wood? Protecting the finish but not really da wood. Same thing wit car wax to guard against rust. Paint don't rust.
Ya gotta think a while to get how it "helps" protect against rust (for about 10 minutz).

Well I got my Rx's for the lower strength patches but my insurance won't cover them till the ones I have are gone. They are afraid I'll put them all on together. Seems like in that case they would be ahead of the game cause they would probably have to take me out in a body bag.

I was watching that flight last night and they must've had a heck of a tailwind. He got up to 670mph approaching the speed of sound. They left 10min late and got to London 45min early. They are now in Dublin will post pics as she sends them to me.

Sorry, but as a home builder and remodeller all I can see is how great a job your tile man did.

That house was built in the late 70's & they've remodeled the whole thing. Put in a pool, & extended the patio by adding a low, wide deck all the way across the back. All covered. Lots of great outdoor space! I love the place!

I don't know if you've ever had a fairly close glimpse of a 777 flying but at my MIL's house they fly over everyday on the way from Moses Lake where they take the pilots of the new ones to, to practice take off and landing. They have a huge airfield there and then the come back to Boeing Everett plant. They have a sound all their own it's kind of a low pitched humm. Those twin engines are huge but really quiet. You can recognize them coming. GE I think strikes again.

I looked it up and the engine has a 125" diameter. Sheesh I didn't even realize they were 10'. I knew they were huge cause when they fly over it looks like they are going 30mph when they are actually going about 200mph coming in slowing for a landing.

No but thats the air field they use.

The only AFB's left in WA are Fairchild home of a KC 135 refueling wing here, used to be a SAC base, and Joint Base Lewis McChord south of Tacoma. It was pretty cool having those B-52's flying around.

Way back when...I had an uncle who was a fighter pilot stationed at Moses Lake, and another who was a Staff Sergeant attached to SAC at McChord...

It was kind of cool when I was 15 I was in the CAP and the USAF flew us all over from Paine Field AFB (does not exist now) to Fairchild and we stayed there for a week. Got to take a tour of a SAC base what they would let us see but one of the high points was the tour of the B-52. We got to go inside and it was amazing for such a big plane how cramped it was. They explained all about them, they had 8 engines, wheels on the ends of the wings because the wings were so long and heavy that they would bow down when they landed and up when they flew. They flew us over in the old C119 flying boxcar. Got to go up in an old L5 and take the stick for a while. Pretty cool.

They let us see the crews quarters when they were on duty and showed us how they had just a few minutes to get out of bed suited up and be in the planes ready to go up in case a an emergency. it was way cool for a 15 year old.
