Janet and I spent the day at the Reading WWII Airshow today. We try to attend each year. This year we spent the majority of our time 'listening' and not wondering around the war birds on display, or the re-enactors encampments or even watching the air show itself. These men and women from the 'greatest generation ain't going to be around in the coming years but the airplanes and re-enactors will. So, just thought I'd share their pictures and mini bios.

And most impressive was when the Star Spangled Banner was sung at the start of the air show itself. The entire airport went silent and 1000's of people where ever they were stood looked toward the main flag pole and either saluted or covered their hearts. Every thing stopped and went so silent you could literally hear a pin drop around you.

Wow, thank you for sharing that. Sounds like a wonderful celebration.

Thank you for your kind words, you all really know how to uplift others here on the porches.
Julie's short term memory loss seems about the same. At times it can be really bad, she sometimes forgets the first half of a sentence before I can complete the sentence. At other times you would never know she had any issues at all. Thing is I never know which Julie I'm talking to until I get some response from her. Her cognisance can change minute by minute on really bad days.
At least with the Zoloft I get less arguments from her that I said something I didn't say and she is doing much better with unnecessarily stressing over the inconsequential.
I am so glad it's helping her! Still praying, cig!

Yepper ... and/or backgrounds like that Marine who was awarded the medal of honor at Iwo Jima. He said he was from a small backwoods town in West Virginia. They hardly ever saw a soldier in uniform. Then he saw two Marines in their dress blues and the 'chicks' were flocking to them like bees to honey. He said Army uniforms were ugly so he joined the Marines because he wanted 'chicks'. He said the hardest part of his Marine training was developing the mindset to 'kill'. His whole life he was taught you only kill to provide food for the table or put an animal out of it's misery. The concept of 'I need to kill to stay alive' was the hardest thing he had to learn.
Thank you for sharing them with us, Mike!

My trip to the eye doctor turned out good. My eyes have changed a bit so I also went and ordered new glasses. I have used a popular retailer for my glasses for a long time. I went there yesterday and picked out a set of regular (tri-focal) glasses and a pair of single vision for use at my computer. I will have to see about getting a good photo of myself in the new glasses. I have used metal frames for so long it is going to take me a while to get used to the new glasses, they have a plastic/rubber type of frame. My daughter really likes how they look.
I need to get back to the VA. I finally got used to my new glasses on the top part then I tried to read and almost went crosseyed. It seems that they didn't get the center right and with no line bifocals that is important. It's a shame cause I really like these new transitions. They darken really fast and dark.

Thanx beyond my capability for your sharing, Mike!

What a heritage and history that our military still carries on (if allowed)!

Will admit, although I volunteered for and served in Viet Nam, to this day I ever so worship those that didn't have just a year tour 'limit'! 'For the duration' was a death sentence for all too many... but here we are thanks to THEM...

Great to 'hear'!

Gotta 'see' if my Tri-Care/eye center will cover a new prescription. My frames are 12 yo wid only one lens prescription change since my cataract surgeries ten years ago.

Guess I have a real i$$ue wid $30 frames co$ting me $300!
Don't make me come over there!

@cigatron I did my time in the newb thread today and some guy in there was wondering why his new DNA250 wouldn't fire a .13 coil actually it was duals that came out at .13. I told him that it maybe possible that the settings weren't right in Escribe, he was only able to get 54.3w when he had it set for 100w. Which I checked and that is almost 28a. I really didn't know and sent him to the Evolve forum. He didn't even know what Escribe was. He had a Triade by Lost Vapes 250 with the 3 18650 batteries. I told him that it is possible that the settings were set for 20a which is what 54.3 would be but I really didn't know. I figured he would be able to get an answer there. I know one of my LV dna's didn't have any of the manufacturers setting in it and I was lucky enough that I found someone who knew them and had done all the tests which made it easy. I'm by no means a dna expert but I know how to set mine for what I use it for SS316L and it does a great job so I am happy.

Wish we coulda used the pencil on the 8 tracks too! I think those needed a screwdriver to open those little plastic locks, and maybe haveta slice the paper cover at the seams.
I found the best thing for eaten 8 tracks was the car window.

I'm on the flight path several miles away and sure didn't notice many passing overhead. Surprised, because it was such a clear sky. We never attended, but we used to park on the highway median strip nearby.

What a wonderful experience. Thanks for sharing. Tinker had an airshow a couple weeks ago. My daughter and I stood in our front yard and watched the Thunderbirds. Of course, I am partial to the Blue Angles.

These are the same glasses I got today, the only difference is mine has grey earpieces, they are the Matt Black/Grey. I don't really feel like taking a selfie right now and I am very lazy.

Fixed many of both in my day. Also had a portable 8 track. Made by Learjet. Took D cell batteries, 8 of them if I remember correctly. Still only played for about an hour and a half. Ain't technology great?

Saw many, many of them on the side of the road. Of course you had to grab the tape so there would be 150ft of it hanging on the road signs. Of course we bought bootlegs at the tape hut. ;)

:lol:.....Yeah for sure and the player head had to be adjusted regularly to keep from cross tracking. Still, it was pretty cool to play your own song selections while driving.:thumb:
What really made me the coolest kid around though was my FM converter and a set of Jenson speakers I mounted up in cardboard frozen french fry boxes I got from Burger King. Oh yeah, I was all that.
