We were only without power for a day, but that was too long for me.
It's one thing to go camping and you have the mind set for it...it's another when your plug gets pulled !
Know how you feel, I hate when some idiot workman digs through a cable here, and I'm without for only a few hours til they reroute the power, glad to see that you all appear to have come through mostly unscathed though, one of the floridians that pops in on our UK thread is also okay, think he is located near Lakeland/Cypress Gardens

Power not on yet, so staying w/son & family. Hubby left a bit ago to asses damage, if any. Neighbor sent us a video and no apparent damage, but was unable to see the back lanai, cage, etc.
Son's home did not even lose power!!! We stayed here during Matthew, and no problem then either.

Trip home was horrific from NC; stark contrast to our exodus.

It must have been devastating to see your beautiful state in it's present condition! But I, and many others here, are very glad that you, and others that post here, weren't subjected to horrible damage to your homes, especially the ones that chose to stay.

I just realized why I've been so depressed and angry and out-of-sorts for months...and this is NOT a political statement, as it includes most of this sick world,.....I've been doing something these past months which I've never done before, and that is...being virtually glued to the news.

I feel that we've evolved as the smartest species...but, in fact, we are the dumbest because we're destroying our own home. I won't have to deal with this for too much longer but my heart goes out to the younger generations.

Still no power... At least we now have a window shaker in the MBrm, thanx to one of our daughters getting their power back.

Out of four immediate family homesteads, only one did not lose power. Presently, we're batting .500. Our youngest daughter & family is staying with our eldest.

Catch y'all later, gotta get Pattys lunch (Greek salad)...

My Iffanese must be rusty. What's a window shaker?

Well, that's what I would have figured, except that Iffy has no power, right? Or maybe he's got a generator and I forgot that he had one? With his level of preparedness a generator seems likely.

I do believe he has a generator that will handle the window unit. Problem around here is getting gas. We were supposed to get a new roof yesterday but company says they don't have diesel for the trucks. Believable because few stations with electricity have gas much less diesel.

They'll have to check tanks at the stations before they refuel them. Fuel should be there shortly.

I think most of you have seen those of us in Texas mention the grocery chain HEB. They are on their way to Florida in their semis 's with their trailers full of food, water, & supplies. They are bringing they trailers equipped as kitchens & grills, also, so they can cook for everyone also. They did it for Texas & now that things are more under control here they are going to help "over there". So if you see a big HEB tractor & trailer please stop & see what they can do for you!

From Texas, with love!

Hey all. Just checking in. We fared well during the storm. Never lost power. Daughter's family stayed with us. Just bought a house on Matlacha (Matt-La-Shay). The island of Matlacha is still standing, was afraid we were going to own property on the bottom of the bay, but that didn't happen....the house is fine. We were truly blessed.

My cooler looks something like this. I have a smaller fan and pipe, but the Idea is the same.
Cool. My dad had a large wooden box with slats over which water flowed and a blower at the base of it, it all required power to run, but that is how he cooled his business office for twenty years.

One of the many reasons we chose to stay. Glad to hear you are safe. Saw videos of homes near intracoastal waterway near Flagler. It wasn't pretty.
