I'm here, Legs. Trying to catch up. Kinda felt like I was running people off so stepping back some.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I feel that way a lot because I just can't stop myself from saying something about the things that are happening in the White House and how it doesn't seem to bother other people. For me it's like this country is being torn apart at a very fast rate and I know exactly who to blame. It just bothers the heck out of me to see this happening. Not much I can do about it but something need to be done soon.

Well Bea I didn't see an answer if she has legs that she can use to help her get herself back in the chair, one of the best things I got, (from a SeniorCenter:
was arms for the toilet which I also changed and got the type that is higher from the floor then standard, these arms jsut attack thru the 2 bolt screws that hold the toilet seat on. They are adjustable to the height you need and can be swung out to be out of the way if you need to go from toilet to chair. That high toilet is great if you have legs and can stand for just a second. Don't know her situation. Another thing I haven't gotten yet is a temp controled hand held shower which also hooks to an adjustable bar to raise or lower for anyone to use, I have a shower chair I guess you would call it but it is about 24" from front to back and 40" from side to side. That makes it so part of the chair is outside the shower and you can sit there and undress then turn and slide into the shower and there is an arm and a back then do the opposite getting out. For me the shower is one of the biggest PIA but this helps some. Bars are also a necessity, you can put them any place you need to get yourself to your feet and into your chair, if she has any use of her legs. I know that some have braces so they can at least use their legs to get to there chair. Otherwise it is the old portable slide, guess you'd call it just like a piece of wood about15" wide or less and maybe 24" long that you can place between whatever you are sitting in and slide to where you want to be sitting. Just a couple things, all depends on her disability.

That's great they have their own house so they can make the changes that need to be made without Oking it with the Landlord.
One thing about it is there are so many things that can be done but if you don't have a relative or friend or one of these places that will help the disabled with things, It costs a ton of money. insurance depending will cover alot if you have good durable equipment insurance. Medicare makes you jump through a lot of hoops tho. But if it is Medicare or Medicaid I'd say do it as soon as possible, don't know what is going to suffer from budget cuts but they are both in line.

I'm really worried about DH's eye that had the detached retina. He says that as of this morning his sight changed drastically and is a lot more blurry when he looks down. And his sight when he looks straight ahead, like when he looks at me, is so blurry he can't make out my facial features.

I convinced him to call the answering service and the doctor called him right back and said that it could still be the gas bubble causing it but it could also be that the retina detached again. He said for us to be at his office at 7:30 am tomorrow…the doc will go in early and examine that eye before his scheduled appointments.

DH has to be NPO again because if the retina detached again we're talking surgery this time. I am so scared that he might lose sight in that eye.

Thanks for listening to me because I don't want him to know how worried I am. I'm the strong one…supposedly…and usually hold it together very well but not so much when it comes to his health :(

Keep your fingers crossed

Happy news to share! Daughter and hubby signed the papers for a house yesterday!!!!
We spent the day getting stuff moved, more to do tomorrow. She never thought she would ever own a home, she was crying a river of happy tears. We helped with the closing costs, he got a VA loan. We have so many ideas on fixing it up so she can do everything possible for herself (wheelchair and limited reach). We found some tables with telescoping legs for her craft room! She can reach the bathroom sink now! Little things most of never think of make life so much easier for those with limitations. Any ideas would be most welcome, too! Fantastic! She will be able to change whatever it takes to be functional for her. That is great!
