J Boyett is a much lesser known author than Lee Child, who I recently praised. Boyett is a much NEWER author also, which explains at least part of the vast difference in name recognition.

At this point I'll stop comparing apples with oranges, because there is very little commonality between the two authors. Here's my brief review of J Boyett's "The Little Mermaid-- A Horror Story":
A very well-written fictional novel that explores the blurred and moving line between fantasy and reality. Not what I would call light reading, since my continued attention is required. If I read a couple of pages absent-mindedly, I have to go back and re-read those pages for comprehension.

I should mention that I am not even halfway through "The Little Mermaid" yet, but it absolutely keeps calling me back and I cannot imagine becoming bored with it.

@oldbroad I found it. I mentioned at the Odyssey that someplace in the house was an Elvis pen our daughter bought during a visit to Graceland. She doesn't want it so if you do, PM me a mailing address and it'll be on the way. It actually has a serial#, not like it's a limited edition though. The number is 17939.

lol okie dokie! Not quite my cup of tea, but still kinda kewl for her

Hahahaha! I know what ya mean... I used to listen to a lot of "hard" music... not so much any more. Lately, I've kept it on "country" radio stations. I did think it was kind of an interesting story though. Apparently she's even touring with them for their live shows! :shock:

@Uncle Willie

For me and people like me the internet is a total Godsend. With my level of social anxiety I would never interact with another human (besides the hubby) and probably never leave the house either if I didn't have the net to keep me plugged in with people.

The net gives me just enough of a safety net that I can meet and talk to people without instant panic attacks. Forums are easier of course but you guys have got me to show up in the hangout once in awhile. Hangout is a bit riskier for me but I do it now and then. Either one I know I can click out of anytime it gets to be too much.

You guys have no idea how big a deal that is for someone that can be shaking like a leaf just walking to the mailbox for fear someone will talk to them.

Really are two sides to the coin with the connected age.

Dear Ms. Myrany ::

My contemplations over this and that, generally posted when something gives me pause to, er, contemplate, (or I've tipped back a few ;)) are usually just editorials on random thoughts that cross my mind at the time .. not intended to do much more than give others here my current frame of mind and perhaps, sometimes, initiate a little discourse ..

.. ;) .. my love / hate relationship with the Web in general goes back to the days of BBS and USENET .. I have sung the praises of our small slice of Cyberland here many times in the past and will continue to do so .. since, after all, had it all never existed, I would have not had the opportunity to meet such a generally lovely group of folks that Reside on the Back Porch .. and, I even include Gary in that .. ;)

In closing, my previous editorializing was not intended as a slam against the connected age, just an alternative viewpoint .. one side of the coin, if you will .. ;) .. I am, in fact, quite happy that it has provided so many with a voice with which to be heard .. :)

Sincerely, Willie

Tossing out a few before I retire to the Boudoir in order to prep for Red Nose Day .. ;)

You're quite welcome. It way nicer to pass this along to someone instead of it ending up in the re-cycle bin. Can't guarentee it still writes, it's been around a long time.

If God intended for us to run, he would have never allowed us to invent cars or domesticate horses. At least that's what I think. ;):lol:

I think God gave us the ability to run for a reason... to escape danger and to catch food. And I'll only run in those cases if I run out of ammo first! ;)

Or the most comfortable "dog house" a man can have. ;)

Abso-freakin-lutely!! Waaaaayyy better than sleepin' on da couch! :lol:

You don't choose a dog. S/he chooses you. And when s/he does... you'll know it!

rofl! That was great! I just wish I could get Frankie to fetch and pick up his toys! But he becomes a terrier-ist when it comes to stuff you want him to do :lol:

Anybody in here familiar with hacking/rooting Android phones? I could use a l'il help...

Last I knew, much of your question will deal with the specific phone you have .. don't know if you want to disclose that info .. generally speaking, you'll first need a USB to phone cable to gain access to the phone VIA a PC ..

Yeah, I've been doing a bunch of research on this and am coming up a bit short. Apparently most of the "One Click Root" type of programs work on 5.0 or lower and mine is 5.1.1
But I have no problems sharing the specifics...
The phone is: Kyocera Hydro Air (Model: C6745)
SIM is unlocked. (AT&T phone running with a T-Mobile SIM)
OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Sorry, can't help in dat I use a phlipfone. But, Google just might be your phriend...

No worries... I'm digging everywhere I can think to dig, and I know that there are many people in here that are much smarter than I am. ;)

Yeah I know there are apps out that will do it for you. Can't swear to their reliability and they are not free but I know they are there. Just google what ever it is they call that that you can do to your phone and get rid of bloatware and a lot of other stuff. It also voids your warranty. I've been haveing a lot of brain farts lately that I can't think of the work I want to use. Sorry. I will think of it.
