You had to stop at every gas station and get gas so you didn't run out. When you are 19 years old you are bullettproof.
Yup, remember those days. You had to have a grand, 2 spare tires, two Jerry Cans of spare fuel (that should date it for some ;)) a jack and a "reasonable tool kit". The gas stops are still critical, especially in the late Fall & through the Winter when most "tourist stops" close down for the season. Even today, it's not like you can Google map your trip and PLAN on stopping here, here & here for gas, they very well may NOT be open for business. I remember getting as far as Watson Lake on one Northbound crossing and praying the only gas station for hundreds of miles would be open, after expending all of our "spare fuel". They weren't and I was "forced" to take drastic measures. Fortunately, there was one care taker type fellow there who came out of the shack shouting, "What the...........???!!!" I explained our position and he graciously fired up the generator and pump. Naturally, there was a "premium" on the cost of the already high priced fuel but no harm, no foul and we were on our way. BTW, what year was your GTO? I had 3 of those ('69 Ram Air 4 - 400 Conv., '70 - 60 over 454 BBC Coupe, '72 Ram Air 4 - 400 (Marine/Custom Built) Coupe) as a younger man and REALLY wish I had them now, since they're fetching nearly 100 K a piece!!! Wish in one hand, right???

I feel safe in saying that with your first hand experience and living where you do, you have a first hand perspective on these things other may not have .. even discounting the scientific evidence (and who would do that .. ??) .. the eyes don't lie .. and the fine folks living in the Maldives would agree, I'm sure ..
Yessir! The last two Winters have been MUCH milder than ever with almost NO SNOW and temps rarely dipping below zero. Ya'all may have seen Obama standing in front of Exit Glacier near Seward, last Summer and like all of the others, boy, has that hunk of ice receded! We're also experiencing the earliest Spring EVER, this year. Oddly, over the past month, the temperatures are 10 degrees COLDER than normal and "they" say next Winter will be more like the Winters we're used to, with lower temperatures and a more average snow fall. Go figure..........
I just don't know that it's ALL "our fault" that it's happening (humans certainly haven't been kind to this orb) or if it's a natural cycle that humans haven't been around long enough to have experienced. Personally, I tend to lean more toward Natural Cycle with a little help from "us". I'd go into more detail but it's a little drawn out since one literally has to go back millions of years to lay it all out....... There's NO DOUBT it's real and it's happening. All you have to do is look at the pictures like the ones that have been posted here. I just disagree that humans have the ability to reverse it, Gaya wins. (You can't fool Mother Nature, ha, ha) That doesn't mean I think we should throw in the towel. We should do everything we can to treat ourselves and this planet the best ways possible. As it stands, it's our ONLY OPTION. I'm not holding out much hope for moving to Mars anytime soon. ;) Science (& politicians) needs to quit wasting time on "IF' it's happening (IT IS!) and concentrate on a solution (IF one is possible). (I have some "theories" on this too but I'm not holding any PHDs, so........)

Wow, that got a little long winded anyway! Sorry.........

No need for an apology .. wait till you get a load of my excessively long winded rambles and rants that pop out periodically .. which may or may not have something to do with my Colon .. ;)

Really hoping you get some much needed rest (sleep)......and STOP volunteering for overtime....
I know I need to stop. I haven't been doing it for myself anymore. I've been doing it for the fellas who always express a lot of gratitude for me coming to help out. However, it HAS to stop. I'm really tired.

I almost said something when you said, just yesterday I think, that it wouldn't be you THIS time. I worries 'bout ya Roto!
Aw, thanks, Dave! I'm starting to worry about me too.

That's the spirit! Routine OT is not nice! The extra money isn't going to do you any good if you're exhausted, or worse.
This is how I feel right now. "Damn the money!!"

Noooo! Somebody's got to pay the taxes that support all the rest.
Humph!! That's already old!

IDK this guy just can't seem to make my right one fit correct and he's getting tired of me.
Shucks, you should be tired of HIM!! I hope they can get your straight soon.

So, here it is Tuesday evening, and this day has been pretty wasted. That's how it is when you work nights and get home at 5am. I had a lot of catching up to do here.

I'm glad to hear that @oldbroad is doing well after her surgery. She was on my mind all day yesterday.

For a while, I thought I was going to have to float home with all this rain we've been having. I'll probably have to head back to work Thursday without mowing the lawn. It's mush.

WELCOME to the newcomers!! ------> Waving "Hello"

Hiya Von. :)

I still have my first car in storage at my folks' place. '73 Plymouth Gold Duster w/a 318 under the hood. Fun car.

Sent from Doomite Central!
Hi!
Yupper, that's a nice ride right there. Congrats on holding on to her! My wife's first car was a '73 or '74 Dart Swinger 318 (she can't seem to narrow it down much more than that  ) I offered to replace it for her but she doesn't want it if it's not the exact one! I'm sure it's been dead and gone for YEARS!!! (Hmmmm, maybe I could get her to compromise on a '70 'Cuda Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!!!)
