LOL....it's Amazon "Prime" day....those great bargains are watched like hawks by a multitude and always have to be jumped on immediately because they sell out extremely fast....;)
Yeah I knew that! But figgered I don't really need a new one. It actually was still there til around 2pm. But finally got in touch with the second guy and he said an $80 service call and ball parking a roughly $300 to $400 to repair from what I explained to him. IF I had a ball park price to begin with I would have just jumped on the new one.
Someone please just shoot me.

To all our travelers - have a safe trip!

I drive 4 hrs to West Palm Beach tomorrow to do a dog show there. My little van is packed to the gills. Showing Geordi Saturday and Sunday - actually his breeder is showing him, but I may need to step in if Geordi is put up over his brother. We shall see!

HA! Not for the past several years... I moved on to dark Stouts for beer or I'll drink hard apple ciders, but mostly when I have a drink, I tend to stick with Bourbon or Jack Daniels. ;)
Kazz maybe you know. I have been dying to try that strongbow stuff but I will be danged if I can figure out where they put the stuff in the stores. It is not near the craft beers or with the wines. Any ideas where to look?

I'm wondering if I'd be able to help with the driving.

My friends wife helps with driving. She's tiny and while she will not drive it in town traffic - she drives on the open freeway (primarily in the right hand lane) between rest areas. This allows him to stretch and maybe even nap for a couple of hours while they are on the road...

LittleBird, you won't have any trouble. ;) After the first 50 miles or so, you'll probably forget it's even there. ;)
Up to that point, you'll probably be nervous as all get out. It will be a little strange but just relax and watch when your turning corners. ;) Backing up is a little trickier but with a trailer that long it's easier, especially if you have a guide that knows where to stand so you can see them!

Yea, my friends use one of those small two way radios to back up - along with a back up camera...

THe one time I pulled a trailer was a car carrier behind a Uhaul truck. It was the most terrifying 1500 miles of my life. I just avoided ever letting myself get in the position to need to back up for any reason. Even so the big truck would have rattled me but having the trailer behind? Um no NEVER going there again.

One thing about a trailer, it will follow you wherever you go! Until you unhitch it anyway...

He He, you just reminded me of an old story. My friend borrowed my truck to move his trailer one time. We hooked up - he pulled forward about 10 ft - stopped - looked back - shrugged and moved on. It was the first time he had ever pulled his trailer with a real truck... Turbo Diesel vs his gas hog... My truck did not even know the trailer was back there...

I probably should explain. The hubby cannot drive. So any driving we need done I have to do. Planning road trips for us involves preplanning handicap accessible bathroom stops and how long I can drive in one day. SO often we actually go more miles than we have to just to stay on interstate because Rest areas have bathrooms he can manage.

So for example when we went to Grand canyon and then down to Pheonix to see my mom a few years ago our trip went like this.

Day 1 we drove up to Oklahoma City.
Day 2 Over to Albuquerque (spelling?)
Day 3 Grand canyon

It was about 150 miles longer but so much easier on me driving wise and him bathroom wise because we could stay on the interstate.

I actually don't mind twisty and narrow. THe road up mt Lemon near Tucson never phased me. It is lack of rest areas on small state highways and bathrooms in gas stations that are not necessarily accessible that is the problem.

In years past I actually have done the I-17 thing. I've spent way more time in AZ than I ever wanted to. Even lived in the mountains outside Tucson for a couple of years in my younger days. Then the parental units retired there so now every few years I have to bite the bullet and go back.

It is a gorgeous state to visit. I REALLY did not like living there.

@clnire, good luck with the show! Get someone to videotape Geordi, if you can. And, be careful! Muah!

@Myrany, isn't A/C grand? I'm glad it's back up and running.

@Semiretired, thanks for telling me about your friend. I'm thinking I can probably handle going forward. Backwards, not so much! :)

@Von Vape, Dunno whether Airstreams have back up cameras. That would be pretty cool, though.
