Also prayers for my son, who has been waiting for a slot in a treatment program to open up-- he is next!

Wonderful!

Blood work came back showing that her liver function is still good...

Her hair is growing back, though, so at least there's that...

Grasp all the positives! Kaez, our hearts ache...

HA! Not for the past several years... I moved on to dark Stouts for beer or I'll drink hard apple ciders, but mostly when I have a drink, I tend to stick with Bourbon or Jack Daniels. ;)

Trust me, Iffy... we're holding on to those positives like they were one of those little life preserver rings in the middle of a hurricane! :) We'll definitely take what we can get...

We decided to leave tomorrow morning. Ginny is feeling better today so we can finish loading up and get the car hooked up and all we will have to do is get up and grab our electric cords and my computer and head out. We thought about leaving today but by the time we finish everything we wouldn't get out till 2pm or so and would be better to go in the morning. So you have to put up with me off and on another day.
I'm so glad Ginny is feeling better, today. Just a bit longer, and you'll be on the road.

Pat, can you tell me whether it's hard to learn to pull an RV? I've never pulled a trailer, but it looks kind of scary. We've been talking about getting an Airstream -- not the huge one, but maybe 21' -- and I'm wondering if I'd be able to help with the driving. We've only just started to talk about it, so it'd be a bit in the future. But it sounds like all the makings of some grand adventures!

As long as you have a good truck preferably a 3/4 to something that size is a piece of cake. I used to have a 25' trailer and a 3/4 ton truck with an equalizer hitch and it was easy to do. If you want something bigger a fifth wheel is the way to go but those airstreams are supposed to be really nice to pull very aerodynamic. I have a 33' Class A Motorhome plus we pull a little Honda Civic behind and I wish I had a fifth wheel and a nice truck. I don't really care for driving the motorhome, seems like you are taking up more of the road then you are but those Airstreams are supposed to be really nice, should be for what they charge well built been around forever plus you have your truck to drive when you get there. A motorhome sits in your driveway most of the year and then when you get ready to take it somewhere seems like there is always something that needs to be fixed. If I had it to do over I'd go with a nice truck and a trailer. You can use the truck year around and actually costs a lot less to maintain. Airstreams from what I've heard are basically maintenance free they are built so well. Top of the line but no slide outs but thats ok. I'd get a 25' or even a little bigger since you don't have slide outs it would give you enough room to have a separate bedroom and small living room.

So we're all packed, well mostly, and will be flying out this afternoon to be with our daughter for the birth of her first baby. Time has really flown since we first found out she was pregnant and we'll soon be able to meet our new grandson! He's almost here! And we'll be able to give Brian a real welcome home hug! Feels weird to be leaving and not know when we'll be back. We've arranged for our young neighbor to take care of the cats, plants and birds while we're gone. We're flying out this afternoon so it feels strange not to be rushing around to get to the airport. Nice.[/QUOTE]

Ah, Janet and Mike, I know you've been waiting for awhile now to hug Brian then to hold your new grandson!
What a grand and glorious trip you will have....

Taking a bit of a respite after shopping and running around! My, it's cool and comfy in here after shopping and running around getting all sorts of errands done.

Few words of interest to post so will continue to lurk, that is, when I have time for the computer; little chance of catching up! Summer is just that way for us! Loving it!

Thanks, Pat. We think Airstreams just look cool! Plus, as you say, they are made in the US and have a great reputation. We were thinking maybe a Toyota Land Cruiser to pull it. I don't want a truck. Yeah, I know. Call me weird! The Land Cruiser has a towing capacity of 8,000 lbs and has some sort of equalizer thingy. The Airstream weighs about 4200 lbs, give or take, plus some more for holding tanks and stuff. With DH and me added in to the equation, we'd still be a couple thousand lbs below the towing capacity. Folks on the Airstream forum say the Land Cruiser is fine for up to a 25 footer. The 21 (which is really 21'9") has power awnings, so that would make it seem more spacious. I don't know. As I said, we've just started talking about it. DH may change his mind... He's been known to do that, once or twice. It's part of his charm!

No flames from me, either.

I believe that bad things happen to good people. I believe that God set the world in motion, established the laws of nature, and grieves mightily when His children are in trouble, sorrow, need or adversity. I believe that sometimes the laws of nature result in miracles (see my signature :)). I don't, and can't believe that some prayers are better than others, or some people more deserving, such that God says, "Ah, Robin will get some divine intervention, today, but Mary can suffer." I don't believe that it is God's will that I or Kaez's bride or anyone else has cancer, anymore than I believe that Bergen Belson or Treblinka or Dallas or 9/11 were all part of God's plan. That is not to say that I don't turn to God to ask for help, for strength, for courage -- I do. Daily. I ask for a great care team, medical advances, scientific breakthroughs. I ask to be kinder and gentler, and more loving. Sometimes I ask for chocolate, but I know that one's on me. :p. I ask for all manner of natural miracles, and I see evidence of those miracles all around me.

It's that grace thing. The greatest miracle of all.
Amen!

@Kenna got to thinking about your tires. You know they make covers they're for RV's but I'm sure they would work on a car they are vinyl I think and you just put them over the tires and it protects them from the sun.
Where I park now is under a tree, so pretty much in the shade. I think the heat & not being driven much has an effect on dry rot as well.

Find me by name on Pintrestd. I have a board titled Vintage Travel Trailers. It has lots of camping, RV, old cars, buses. Just things that I like. Lots of good info & links to sites. Love Airstream style RV's!

In the faith I recently converted to it teaches that our fates are what they are, divine forces intervene when they wish to, we should deal with life as it is in the spirit of self sufficiency, and if we deserve it, divine forces will help. Praying for help or things is like begging and is looked down on.

Ok. Black cloud survives.
Said my main tv died saturday, right?
Contact local shops. Nobuddy home.
Left email via form. Didn't work.
Called another. Answering machine. No message machine.
Waited til monday. Answering machine from the first guy.
3 in the afternoon. Guy quit fixing tv's. (at least he finally called back)
Still trying to contact second guy.
BTW, they say the average repair for this problem is around $280. In the states.

Oh yeah... it gets worse.
While waiting, I'm watching the amazon black friday deals.
55" samsung, smart, led, curved screen, 4k ultra HD, reg $1200 for $580. Free shipping.

So after finding out the first guy doesn't do tv's anymore and the second guy seems impossible to contact, I went back to amazon.
Yep. Sold out.

So here I sit.

LOL....it's Amazon "Prime" day....those great bargains are watched like hawks by a multitude and always have to be jumped on immediately because they sell out extremely fast....;)
