I was brought up to believe that the only legitimate
prayer is that God's will be done. I was also brought up to believe that God's will WILL be done.

So believe whatever you will, your wish for positive outcomes is no different than mine, even when I don't echo your plea to God for a SPECIFIC outcome.

Yes, I do get somewhat weary of testimony that God is influenced by the wishes of we humans. I can't help believing, as I always have, that prayers are nothing more or less than completely rational wishes, that God knows what He's doing, and that miracles happen constantly.

Flame suit on.

Hahahahaha! I said "quiet-ER" ;)
Blood work came back showing that her liver function is still good, so they are continuing the chemo for now. This is the worst chemo that she's been on. The side effects are terrible. It makes her very tired, but it also makes her mouth, hands, and feet hurt. It's getting hard to find things that she can eat, and we have to put lotion on her hands and feet several times a day. And she lost her voice for a couple of days... it has some really weird side effects. Her hair is growing back, though, so at least there's that...
Whoa, that's a lot of hard stuff going on there! Still praying, Kazz!

I just hate that it's so bad for her. Just hope it does something amazing for her! Or that God does.

Trust me, Deb. I hate it too. Watching her go through this is the hardest thing that I've ever had to do. I feel so very useless and helpless much of the time... as for the chemo, even the doctor doesn't have much hope that it is going to be very helpful. We're merely hoping that it buys her a bit of extra time in the hopes that God will step in on her behalf if that is His will. Whatever comes, we will accept and endure... one way or another. :)

Pretty much the same belief and upbringing, Bells. No flames from my side of the fence. :)

Thank you, Kenna. Yes... she is dealing with a lot of hard stuff right now. I only wish that I could make it a little easier on her. :) As always, the prayers are very much appreciated.

we've talked about this stuff, so you know I totally disagree, but no flames at all. We're entitled to believe how we like and have our opinions without being flamed for them.

I know darlin, I can't even imagine how utterly devastating it is. It can be hard to go through things ourselves, but one of the hardest things in the world is to watch someone we love go through it and we can't fix it.

Exactly. I often wish that I could just trade places with her so that she wouldn't have to endure it, herself... then I realize that would be a very cruel wish, because then she'd have to watch me go through it without being able to do anything to help. There's just no good side to that coin.

No flame, but there a many instances where we have been told to ask, but also, not to expect the answer to be yes.....

What did Jesus mean when He said, "Ask and you shall receive"?

No flames from me, either.

I believe that bad things happen to good people. I believe that God set the world in motion, established the laws of nature, and grieves mightily when His children are in trouble, sorrow, need or adversity. I believe that sometimes the laws of nature result in miracles (see my signature :)). I don't, and can't believe that some prayers are better than others, or some people more deserving, such that God says, "Ah, Robin will get some divine intervention, today, but Mary can suffer." I don't believe that it is God's will that I or Kaez's bride or anyone else has cancer, anymore than I believe that Bergen Belson or Treblinka or Dallas or 9/11 were all part of God's plan. That is not to say that I don't turn to God to ask for help, for strength, for courage -- I do. Daily. I ask for a great care team, medical advances, scientific breakthroughs. I ask to be kinder and gentler, and more loving. Sometimes I ask for chocolate, but I know that one's on me. :p. I ask for all manner of natural miracles, and I see evidence of those miracles all around me.

It's that grace thing. The greatest miracle of all.

We decided to leave tomorrow morning. Ginny is feeling better today so we can finish loading up and get the car hooked up and all we will have to do is get up and grab our electric cords and my computer and head out. We thought about leaving today but by the time we finish everything we wouldn't get out till 2pm or so and would be better to go in the morning. So you have to put up with me off and on another day.

Happy to have ya around for another day, Legs. :) Besides, you don't wanna leave at 2pm and catch the worst of the traffic anyway, right? Much better to get a good night's sleep and leave in the morning before (or after) the crazies and their rush-hour traffic. :)
