No, they're steel lines. The hoses run around $30.
OK, how about $10 then? It's proving to be difficult to prove that you were right. No, they're steel lines. The hoses run around $30.

I just had the brakes bleed when I had it inspected in June. The brakes were already grabbing at times then, but it did fine for the inspection. The steering didn't go wonky until later after I drove over a really bad road. That's when the steering went crazy. Itf I turn a corner it starts pulling to thr right really bad. I had to stop & work the steering back j forth & it stopped long enough to get home, but when I turned into my driveway it did it again. There's too much play in the steering.BTW, the part of the brake line I'm talking about is the 12-18 inches closest to the wheel, which is a rubber/braided hose. And you can't look at the hose and see whether it's collapsed or not. There is an inner rubber hose encased by an outer braided part. It's the inner part that collapses. The best way to tell if that's the problem is to remove the right wheel and, while someone holds down on the brake pedal, loosen the bleed valve on the caliper. If the inner hose is constricted, very little brake fluid will come out.
Good Luck!

Since I'm not layin' on my back in your driveway, I can't say for sure but (and we've discussed this before) The likely causes of the issues you describe are an alignment issue (as well as possible tire pressure issues. Although I know you just had those replaced.) in regard to the steering and worn brake pads/rotors or a bound up caliper piston in regard to the braking issues. Bottom line, get it looked at asap.
With all the rain we've had lately, I sure wouldn't mind coming down there and laying on my back in your driveway to help ya out! I could use some sunshine!![]()

Beautiful!A spider that lives outside my side door, with a nice meal caught in its web. I put the picture behind a spoiler in case you don't like big scary-looking spiders.

I saw that today. I was getting really upset so I had to stop the video. The was an explanation about it so I read that. The vid was made by a shop owner in MN. Middle aged lady angry, angry, angry and really upset. Through tears she told this story. One of her steady customers is a mentally handicapped young man (sorry if that's not a PC description, but it's all I can think of at the moment). His parents brought him to the shop month's ago and got him setup w/ PV, tank, juice etc. He successfully gave up the cigs for vaping.
He doesn't have the dexterity or mental capacity to change his own coils. So when he needs a coil change he comes to the shop. This morning he came ... because of the FDA deeming and she isn't a licensed tobacconist she can no longer change his coils. She tried to explain to him how to do it. He went outside and sat on the sidewalk and attempted the coil change. He broke the tank or coil or something and was just sitting there shaking and crying. Passersby were just looking at him and smirking about the the 'goof' just siting there and shaking.
Eventually he went home and came back w/ his parents. Yesterday she would just have given him a new tank/coil ... today she couldn't give anything away. She sold another to his parents and instructed them on how to change the coils. Horrible, just horrible video to watch. She was really calling out the FDA at then end about how many people like him will probably go back to smoking.

Please tell me you're a fan of Black Oak Arkansas, the craziest, wildest, most fun rock and roll band ever. Here's lead singer Jim Dandy singing "Jim Dandy to the Rescue" featuring Ruby Starr, the most magnificent of all the kissin cousins.

Get some rest Cathy, snuggle that pup! The crap will be there to deal with later. Plus VAPEMAIL! [emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7]Home from the latest trip safe and sound. My aweful day 2 weeks ago was driving my little old van to Atlanta to meet hubby, leave my van at a friends and continue on the trip.. First, accident on I75 at Gainesville closed the highway. Make my way through back roads past the closed section and lost my power steering. Fill er up with steering fluid and continue. I should have just gone home. Next it started dieing on me. Pull off to a gas station, very low oil. I checked before I left home and it was fine. Fill er up and continue. Nothing but problems (Atlanta traffic in a bumb vehicle is no fun!) but made it to friends house. Hubby drove it a bit and "hey, something is wrong" DUH! I was at our mechanic almost every day before I left because something was wrong. Couldn't find anything wrong. Only had problems after driving for an hour or more, which I did one day before taking it in. Now, we have a very honest mechanic who is really very good. It's not the engine, just rebuilt. I suspect transmission (again, it's on its third transmission) and steering. Did our shows and towed the danged thing home. It's a 95 Caravan Sport with 222,000+ miles on it. Yea, I need a new vehicle but not in the budget right now.
So towing home, I am driving when we hit Florida. Hubby is snoozing. The rain starts. Pounding, can't see 10 ft in front of you pounding. I am driving slow in the right lane. Suddenly hubby wakes up - watch out! I said I know how to drive! He says not towing (um, yes, I have towed many times). This won't stop if you get too close! I was braking carefully at the time and said so. He shut up and I continued to drive.
Oh, to top it off, last Thursday(?) I woke up with a cold. Although I am feeling much better, it just adds to the stress.
And today is the start of the vapocolypse. Vape mail tomorrow! He better not question my packages!
Ok, vent done. At least I think my taste buds are coming back. I have been vaping a not favorite juice with Koolada in it for days cuz at least the Koolada is a sensation, if no flavor. Tonight my RY4 has flavor!
Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed with Tasha tonight. She is a bed hog but cuddly.
Ok, now I'm depressed. That was a metal tube brake line. The pressure lines are 4 to 6 times that cost.

Yep, when you see spiders outside, leave them alone. They are a pleasant addition to the balance of nature, even though many (me) see them as scary. Not a scary spider. Just a big one. I've seen wolf spiders and we have the gorgeous orb weavers that live here in Illinois. Making their intricate webs for you to run your face into in the middle of the night! They are usually found outdoors though and would rather stay there. They can get pretty big, because they the keep flies mosquitoes, and cicadas at bay.
Just relax, and deal with the unpleasant details later. You deserve vapemail today.Get some rest Cathy, snuggle that pup! The crap will be there to deal with later. Plus VAPEMAIL! [emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7]

Beware of armchair mechanics on the internet. Would you let someone on the internet claiming to be a doctor tell you that all you need to do is put cold compresses on a numb right arm?Don't shoot me, I'm just another messenger, hoping that when you find out what's wrong you can come up with the moolah to fix it.
It's a 98 Tahoe, so rear wheel drive. Those things you mentioned are what I'm worried about.Kenna, I forgot what kind of vehicle you have. A rear-wheel drive truck maybe?
A $30 part plus labor would, I hate to say, be getting away cheap if it solved all the problems, but it doesn't sound to me like it would. It seems a good bet to me that there's damage in the steering linkage somewhere, less expensive to deal with if you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle than if you have a front-wheel drive vehicle but quite expensive either way. Steering column, tie rods, tie rod arms and, with front wheel drive, throw in CVJ (constant velocity joints).

In defense of all we armchair mechanics in this thread, there isn't a one of us who is saying "all you need to do is....", except when we're saying all you need to do is take it somewhere you think you can trust where there might be someone who knows what they're doing.Beware of armchair mechanics on the internet.
