I've been contemplating a drone for a while now and studying, and I believe I have finally settled on the GoPro Karma system .. prior to my annual Winery Tour in October, I believe I am going to procure and use for Vineyard / Architectural / Missouri River Valley footage, etc .. it really looks like a great system and I believe it will fit my needs well, and is more than just a Drone ::

EDIT :: now I discover it does not come out till late October .. :(

You know I was thinkin you ought to mount a sound system on it and play that song they played when the Hueys were coming in in Apocalypse Now. Might not get off the ground though.

Greetings, all

a little bird rat mentioned that someone here or in the H/O inquired about me. not sure which, so you'll all have to endure my response. i haven't been on ECF or even in front of my computer much for the last month or so, and i was so far behind, i just skipped to the end to post this.

i'm recovering, slowly perhaps, from the surgery. i still have the vacuum wound device attached to my belly. a nurse shows up 3x/week to change the dressing and says the wound is getting smaller. i'm hoping for only a few more weeks.

a home health aide shows up periodically to bathe me, since i can't do that myself, really. (although, i'm thinking of trying to hire her permanently). the physical therapists no longer show up, since they taught me all their exercises. (yah, i know you doubt if i actually do them). an "occupational therapist" is supposed to show up some day to give me hints on how to take care of myself living alone.

as far as i know, all this is covered by medicare, or i will have a rude awakening.

i'm now able to walk a bit without relying on the walker. it comes and goes. i made it to my car to drive to the mailbox to pick up some meds that i'd run out of. that went well, but then i got spunky and tried to drive to a drive-thru to get a burger, which didn't end up all that well.

last night, after i took my meds (including the diabetic med i had run out of) i felt weak and dizzy and started sweating. (this happened while i was typing with Ms. Rat). this is often a sign of low blood sugar, so i took one of the glucose capsules that yiddle sent me months ago, and started feeling ok.

so, yiddle's gift keeps on giving. . . and the rat called me later to make sure i actually made it safely to bed. . .

it was a good night, in the end

bottom line is i guess i'm doing as well as can be expected. it may be a month or so before i can show up here much, however

cheers, and love to all,
Dennis

Last Friday we discovered our guest bathroom toilet had been leaking/weeping on da floor. How did we notice (in that we hardly visit that side of our home)? Sopping carpet in da living room. At least it was 'clean' vs. 'brown' water...

Half of our living room and back bedroom carpets are wetter dan a hatching tadpole!

Long story short, got several 'cane blowers/dehumidifiers along wid da appropriate wind noise.

At least my insurance agent is one of my sons-in-law!!! Gotta look on da 'blessing' side... (kinda difficult in da midst of tropical winds) (Eh... wha... ya'll may have to type in bold fer a while...)
Oh no! What a messy nightmare! I can't imagine.

That wound vacuum is wonderful! It really does speed healing. Even for wounds that refuse to heal without it.
And like it or not I'm praying. Be well, Mama, we miss you!

Don't think I've been this low in a long time, the step daughter has insisted that her abusive felon baby-daddy move in, and the wife said yes, proving she really doesn't care what I think or feel. And it turns out I can't sell furniture, so I am going back hat in hand to the carpet company.
Yay me

Boy do I resemble that. I went to the VA Blood Draw today and couldn't find my ID card because I put it in the money section so I could find it easier.
My daughter even got a laugh out of that one. Probably because it sounds so much like her Mama.

Hiiiiiii Honeyyssssssssss I'mmmmmmm Homeeeeeeeeeeee. Missed everyone so much!!

Huge thanks to @umanbean  who helped me get the right cord for this laptop. Apparently when sliding my table under the loveseat in the man cave, the laptop cord got smashed between the table leg that slides under, and a steel frame under the love seat and the cord was nearly severed.

I've actually read all 24 pages I missed and still made it here in time to wish @MikeE3 a very happy birthday!! (in my time zone anyhow) :D
images

love the card someone posted for him with all the flies. think I posted the same one a couple years back. I saved it then so when I get my stamp stuff outta storage I can make some actual cards like it.

Wow well remember when I told you Jacob my GSIL was going for Staff Sergeant. Well they got the results back last month and they said that only 1 guy made it not him but they had screwed up getting all the paperwork in on time from Kuwait. He just found out this AM that he did make it after all. So now it's Sergeant Jacob of Kuwait. YAYYYY. He's going to reenlist in December, then his bonus will all be tax free.
that's fantastic!!! Good for him! Couldn't believe it when I'd read he didn't get it, so was very happy to see he actually did! Jup, re-upping OCONUS is a great time to do it.

Who's a Lay's potato chip fan? My daughter was telling me about a biscuit and gravy flavor. I gotta find some and try it...
well Iffy found out they weren't so good. I didn't get a sour cream flavor from em, but I sure tasted the pepper! That made it just awful for me. I'm surprised you can't find em, unless they've been there and gone.......we had em here a long time ago! The ones my son recently got were: szechuan chicken, a brazillian steak with chimichurri sauce, a tikka masala, and a greek tzatziki sauce. I didn't get to try the tzatziki sauce one. the others were just ok. I much prefer just plain lays to any of the new flavors I've tried. And it must be non wavy lays!

I like the Wasabi and Ginger ones :)
that one sounds yummy!! I LOVEEEEE horseradish and ginger! Even love to just eat candied ginger

BTW, did ya put an over easy egg on 'em?
hehehe I do put over medium eggs on my fried taters, then smoosh the yolk all over the taters. yummmm

Heh, if all taste budz wuz alike, we woodn't kneed udder juicez! :D
Don't think I'd like udder juice!

Question......why ingest pepper sauce so hot that after the first drop hits your tongue you cannot taste anything else? I have never understood that. I like spicy but not sauce just for the sake of "how hot can you tolerate your food additive?".
I'm with you. I like some spicy stuff, but still wanna be able to taste something besides hot!

A Thai friend told me that if I could tolerate the heat (spiciness), after a few bites or so, my tastebuds would "transcend" the heat and I'd begin to taste new flavors. I've found that to be the case - though I can't eat food nearly as spicy as she eats!
that's interesting, but I'd never make it. I deal with enough pain, don't like more from my food. I'll eat whole jalapenos with some things, raw or pickled, so I'm not a complete spicy food wimp, but Thai spicy is a whole new level. One of our Thai restaurants here, the lady who runs it is a doll, but she puts 40 of the thai peppers in one bowl of her food  I'm fairly certain she no longer has any nerve endings in her mouth at all!

Who besides me likes celery bits and/or pickle relish in their tuna salad?
that would assume I like tuna fish. I used to, but just got so sick of it I can't stand the smell of it anymore. When I did eat it, it was the solid white albacore, with celery, no relish. The only thing I ever use relish for is a bit in my deviled eggs. but not in egg salad. I used to do tuna fish sammiches on toast, and slap a piece of american cheese on the toast so it would melt, then the tuna fish. I also like a piece of melted cheese on a fried fish sammich.

What's this Hellmans stuff out here in the old west it's Best Foods.
They swear they are the same, made the same way, same ingredients from same places etc, but something is different, and I'm not the only one who can taste it apparently. An article I glanced at said that a ton of folks can tell the difference, and most if not all, along with me, think Hellman's is better. We have both here.

Howdy y'all... just thought I'd make a low pass and waggle my wings to say 'hey'... :)
Good to see ya darlin! How wuz yur pig??

Sounds about right ... Especially the pickle slices (but hold the chips). Make one for me, an I'll be there in 2 shakes of a lambs tail!
I have all that except for one ingredient (can't recall which one now, but it wuz minor) I'll make it if you'll come!!!

Thank you all so much for the prayers and good wishes! Today started out pretty rough for her, but they finally took the tube out of her throat and she started to feel better. They won't let her move yet, still has the IV needle in her neck. She is pretty lucid. Hopefully out of ICU tomorrow. She is a fast healer and pretty independent so maybe home soon. I'm off to get some rest. Thanks again.
Wahooooooooooo that is soooooooooo wonderful to hear, and even better to hear that she's home now!!! Glad you're sleeping better. They never quit being our babies, so I can only imagine how horrible that was for you and her!

Bubblewrap being considered for the Toys Hall of Fame!!!
As it should be!! :D

I sent you a couple recipes via PM... hopefully those are close to what you had in mind.
cuz you thought the rest of us wouldn't be interested in yur recipes???? :nah:

I love that stuff, too! Not sure exactly what's in it, but it seems to be some sort of horseradish. Either way, mum's the word! ;)
Jup great stuff!! I can handle more heat from horseradishy things than I can some types of chilis, and can't deal with tobasco chilis at all, they upset my tummy. Love the flavor of cayenne.

All this hot sauce talk and my mouth is watering. I'm of the persuasion that jalapenos are a snack food, love serrano, thai bird and habanero pepers too.

Even better, someone in the office just gave me a batch of hot peppers (mixed jalapeno and habanero) and tomatoes fresh from their garden. Is it time to go home yet? I keep sniffing the bag LOL!
Holy Asbestos mouth batman!!! Good to see ya sweetie. Hope you and hubby are feeling better.

Yes I am still alive. In case anyone was wondering. Again just checking in. The PODS for the move arrives next Thursday (as does my birthday, oh boy what a gift!;)). Finally got the dash A/C in the motorhome fixed.
Glad you got the AC done, but hate that you went through all that for something simple. We miss you too hun, but don't feel at all bad about not being here. We totally understand. Can't wait for you to get moved and settled. Glad the movement is helping you! It definitely does help if you can get through the pain part to get to the better part. Unfortunately you had no choice but to do it. Or maybe fortunately since you're in so much less pain now.

and a bowl carved from buffalo horn (if I remember correctly).
Gorgeous bowl! I don't think it is buffalo horn though, unless only the outside is black. My buffalo horn pipe that I would use for chokers and things are solid black.

BTW, ladies, wanna pizz ophph your ol' man, use his razor. Oh, and we do know if ya used it!
I've always heard this, but I don't understand how. I can understand a man messing up a woman's razor, y'all have rougher skin, and stiffer whiskers. We have smoother skin and finer hair.

The Cherry Blossom Tea tastes like Hand Lotion to me I don't care for it.
Glad you finally got the taste outta the atty. I doubt you'll wanna try it again, but I wonder if you used a little too much. That's discouraging, cuz I was interested in trying it. Not to say I wouldn't like it, cuz we're all different, but not gonna pay that much shipping to possibly have the same out come.

Your witch is my commander. Still a few more minutes before I can take a pic from ground level.

Great photo!!

Have you guys noticed that foods in general just don't taste the same as they used to. I don't know if its all the chemicals they are using or what but stuff just isn't the same. Maybe its just us but have been noticing it more and more.
Jup! So many things just don't taste like they used to. I'm sure much of it is due to a lot more chemicals, and just finding ways to do it cheaper. Of course we all do have older taste buds that we screwed up with smoking.

My sister told me that when we were younger when she was upset at my dad she would take the blade out of his safety razor and scrape the paint on the window in the bathroom. When she was done she would put in back in his razor.
oh that's just vicious!!

We eat mostly fresh veggies - some fresh that we froze, but almost everything that hits our plates is fresh and a lot of it we picked ourselves. We have a spot near our house that grows veggies organically and you pick them yourselves for $10 a bucket...
that's so great! Wish we had places like that around here!! I did find out that blueberries do well here in containers, so am trying to talk the kids into trying that and some herbs in containers. My dil likes making smoothies, and blueberries are great in them, but so expensive!

Speaking of 3 years, this video is 3 years old but great anyway.
oh that was soooooo heart warming! thanks for posting this!!

I stopped eating Domino's for years after I got a pizza with buffalo wings sauce on it instead of tomato sauce. They changed the sauce recipe after that & I didn't like it. Then a couple of years ago they changed it again, & added some nice crust & cheese options that make it a delicious pizza again. For us, anyway.
yuckkkkk Until they made the change, I hadn't had Dominoes since I was a teenager. It was awful! It's still not my fav, but it's at least decent now. And I love the jalapeno cheesy bread! We used to have a Mazzio's here that had great pizza, but they went out of business a few years ago. So sad. I've had some great pizza and also the worst I've ever eaten at various Pizza Huts. Up north the best were Cassano's and Godfather's.

We shall see. Like I said, the bar is kind of low with me, since I haven't had a belt that lasted for a year in the past 20 years.
Suspenders???

Are hard as rocks, and that's one of the very few things I won't eat.

Euell Gibbons was "wrong" :(
hehehe I always said Euell died from eatin tree bark. I do like grape nuts every once in awhile, and I use them for a yam casserole topping that I make at Thanksgiving. I miss his commercials. Speaking of commercials....... one of the channels here has been showing the old owl/tootsie pop commercial lately. It's neat to see it again!

Seriously. If you have a saddlery near by, check 'em out. Yes, the belts are going to be probably double the price for what you'd find in a department store, but they'll last forever.
that's where my son just bought one! I think he paid $30.00 but it should last as you say, forever! Also it's one where you can unsnap and change the buckle. He said those are dang near impossible to find in regular stores now.

Well I spoke too soon. A cat just got one of our quail and Ginny was watching and went out and yelled at him the quail got away and flew off minus some feathers and who knows what else but he got away.
yay Ginny!! Good for her for chasing it off.

Wow! I just realized what day it is. I joined the 3yr club! 12 hours ago, how did I miss that? ROFL.
Wahooooooooo!!! that is sooooooooo wonderful hun!!!

Bad night tonight, hurt in pretty bad, frustrated, ain't selling no furniture, gettin ...... off at everyone, ain't been able to buy any vape gear in about 10 months, tired of doin for everyone and not for myself, the dark rider keeps backing his horse into my head

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.
((((((((Russell)))))))))))) Just keep tryin to chase off those bad thoughts hun. Yanno we're here if ya wanna talk! Are you in need of some particular vape gear, or just wanting to get some new stuff?

However, Rob Roy was excellent.
Jup......hated the one scene, but other than it's wonderful. Definitely one I've been wanting to get on DVD for a few years now.

That's great news. I'm curious If you have to have your spleen removed you must have some kind of special things that you have to do to keep your body up. I know without your gallblader it's not a big thing. I don't have one. Just curious.
Most folks can do fine without a spleen. The spleen works with the immune system, and helps fight off some infections, so some who are prone to trouble with infections/immunity may need meds to help.

Hope this worked..

:banana::banana::banana: YAY! :banana::banana::banana:

I hope everyone, especially the naysayers, get to, and DO, see this movie. Just might open a few eyes. Hope to get it to Tampa or Orlando, and hope I am home when it does. Or on netflix or one of the streaming services. I have people I need to see this, including my hubby (the naysayer) and son (the believer) and his wife (the "Huh?).

Been a long weekend, but on the way home.. Hotel ob the Cape was the pits. Remodeling, construction until 8 pm, rude workers, rude owner, new sink leaked (we are talking flood), electric outlets; unplug and the outlet comes outv! No where really else to go, so we stayed there. Mucho buckaroonos and PITA anywhere else.

Even MickyD's system was down so breakfast was almost a bust. Hit a Dunkin D'nuts that at least had coffee and bagels and service today.

Top it off Gman decided to be Dorky Goobernut MC Hammer and Can't Touch This.

Business was slow but we did better than last year. So that is good. May not be back, however. Oh, I forgot about the road work! Nevermind..

Then last night I woke up at 2:45 am, couldn't sleep, reached for my mod for a puff and it wasn't there! Could not find it. Did not sleep the rest of the night. Phone flashlight, na. Couldn't turn on lights cuz hubs was sawing logs big time (can't sleep with that noise). Grabbed another but didn't sleep. Light of morning found it on the floor between beds. Must have, I don't know.

Best part of the weekend - on our way home. Fave place in Warwick, RI called Dohertys. Kentucky Burbon Barrel Ale on tap. All is good.

Sigh.. Thanks for letting me rant. Luv ya!

@MattB101, miss you and your cheery face! Take care and get er done so you can chill a bit.
Sorry you had such a rough trip! Glad you're home now.

OK, didn't work. Figures. A Billion Lives won a best documentary award!
I tried finding this on the net, but could only find where it took top honors at the Melbourne film festival, and Aaron won best director. The IDA (international documentary assoc.) doesn't have their awards ceremony til Dec. Do you know who awarded this to them??? It's wonderful regardless!!!

Matt will probably be so physically fit after all that work that he will be too busy scuba diving, skiing, swimming, parasailing, playing baseball, football, soccer, and rugby, going to the gym, and working for habitat for humanity to check in with us internet geeks.
that would be fantastic wouldn't it!! Well, not the part about him not being here, but the rest of it!

I am friends with Ken A on FB, and heard from him within the past 48 hours. I have not asked him why he's been scarce on the Porches recently.
Thanks so much for this, and for letting us know he's posting there regularly. I've paged him a couple times on the FP, with no response. Please tell him we miss him here, and hope he comes back!!

Happy Birthday MikeE3!!!! Hope you have an awesome celebration in store!

images
So good to see you hun!!! Where the heck ya been, and how have you been doing????

I knew a guy like that... if you put a sprinkling of ground black pepper on his food, it suddenly became inedible to him... green bell pepper is a even milder than that, though. Poor guy...
That's me......not cuz of the heat, I just can't stand the taste of black pepper.

This is a friend's 14-month old granddaughter, walking her best friend yesterday morning. I think the picture is a classic.

awwwwwwww that's precious!!!

I think I just got called old and maybe even senile in another thread. I thanked him for his help and he told me no problem that his mother was Semiretred also and he was used to having to help her...
roflmao!! You oughta go lay some puter speak on him!

I'd choke and cough even more than usual when holding a cigarette in my mouth.
I never could do that. which is just as well, cuz I never thought a very attractive look for women in particular, with men doesn't really matter so much. My sil did that a lot when she was doing something. Could smoke the whole cig that way if she needed to.

At least my insurance agent is one of my sons-in-law!!! Gotta look on da 'blessing' side... (kinda difficult in da midst of tropical winds) (Eh... wha... ya'll may have to type in bold fer a while...)
oh nooooooooo so sorry you had to deal with that. At least it's good you have a good agent!!

Loved this!!! So true!!
