Clothing, shoes, sporting goods, a couple at Walmart (one for over $1300), and more.
The charges are from all over the world, although mostly the US.
I've only been compromised once, & that was this last spring. My sister used my laptop to order flowers for my Mom to send for her sister's funeral while I was out one day. When I got back h opened my laptop the window to the florist was still open. I closed it, & saw 2 of those popups that show up on your desktop behind your browser. You don't see them until you close your browser. One of them is a survey thing, & the other one was an ad or membership offer from Beach Bodies Club. I've seen the Beach Bodies thing as ads on the sides of web pages. I x'd out of both. The next thing I know, Beach Bodies has hit my account for 2 charges, back to back for over $400. That was a nightmare! & my Disability check had just been deposited. I had barely enough left to pay my bills but nothing after that. I know how angry you are, & how devastating this can be.
That's weird I use my card everywhere. Now that I have Kaspersky it offers you a special secure browser anytime you pay for anything. Sometimes I use it sometimes not depending. Most of my regular bills have the payment info saved so I don't have to put anything in, but I'll bet we don't use over 2-3 checks a year. The new cards they sent me have a special chip in them but I rarely use a CC. I have one I just use for vape stuff. I guess I've been lucky, the only time I got hit for a bad charge was about 15 years ago and one of my Grandaughters friends somehow ordered a bunch of Hello Kitty stuff with my card. They called me from Canada and asked me about it before they sent it and that was the end of that.
They do get it fixed fairly quickly. But, when you go to use your card and can't, surprise! I barely use my card online anymore. It's likely to be local.
You can buy a reloadable Visa gift & just put the amount you want to use in it when you need to use it.

Or if you have bank of america use their shop safe. It's like a reloadable. Thats all i ever use online. And i pay all my bills though the bank because the bank doesnt include my checking account number when they send the payments.
I started paying the bills that way when i heard of someone whose checking account got almost emptied.
No clue. Hacked in somehow. My card is not stored online except for a couple of bills. The popup showed up & then the charges appeared at the bank. Got a new card, & disputed the charge, the bank checked it out & gave my $ back. Took 10 days to get my $. This is the first time anything weird got past my bank.
