Proud Mama Gushing Post

My son has finally been fully assimilated.

Last weekend he called me after a visit to his local shop when he was running low on juice and found out what Mama meant when she was ranting about the idiots in the statehouse.
I sent him some links and a couple of discount codes and his diy supplies arrived in the mail yesterday.

He put on his Mad Scientist gear this morning, set up a lab on his kitchen counter and made his first bottle of juice. He placed a phone call to Mom to ask why his mix tasted like &*$#. He told me his recipe. Everything sounded good other than he had a total of 30% flavoring. I explained the less is more concept, he diluted it to 15%. Still high in my thinking, but it's his tank and if he likes what's in it then that's what counts.

Yay! Anothe DIYer is born! Too bad our miserable elected officials practically made that a requirement in this state.

IMO, the latest reboot of the franchise melds a cast that is modern, yet still true to the roots of the show .. for me, the previous films peaked with "Wrath of Khan", which does not say much since I think it was the second film .. (and what .. ?? no dog named Khan with a Pocket Copy of the Kennel Ration Nutrition Guide for Dogs always at the ready .. ?? ;)) ..

Kobayashi Maru and luxurious Corinthian Leather .. ;)

Bijou Luisant Khan's Kenetic Klarity (Khan) is Geordi's brother. It was funny, hubby and I were talking about names for a "K" litter. I said Kontinuing Mission call name Geordi. He said what about Khan? I said Geordi is not a "Khan" but the other boy sure is. Then, not knowing this, the family that got the brother named him Khan! Freeeaaakkkyy!:shock:

We very seldom go to the theater any more. The expense isn't usually worth it. Every now and then, however, we go to see 3d movies with great effects. Otherwise, fagitaboutit!

What most miss is, Geno, almost always left a hidden meaning in his Treks. A lesson, if you will. Now, it's just what can we blow up today?

Covert or overt, Roddenberry did like to drop commentary on one thing or another .. my all time favorite is still "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" .. a few years before he passed, I was in a fortuitous circumstance that had me spending about two hours in a limo ride with Frank Gorshin .. listening to him whine and complain about how little he got paid back in the day and eventually getting him to talk about "Trek" and "Batman" .. the man was a chain smoker, and even though the limo had a prominent no-smoking sign and the driver told him to stop, he just kept lighting one right off the other ..

Totally off the subject of Star Trek......I did get to stream the opening ceremony of the Olympics last night. Putting aside any negative aspects pertaining to Rio and it's conditions.....there were two things that were the highlights for me. One... a speech that was given, and two.....in the parade of nations, watching the very small group of refugees enter, carrying not a country's flag but instead... the Olympic flag. That put a lump in my throat and brought a tear to my eyes.

    Resistance is futile

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

Fer moi, dat WAS da highlight of da opening ceremonies! And yes, as my Mom was a refugee in more than one country through her sojourns from/through da WWII war zones and finally finding a US(afe)A haven, I shed more dan a tear! <deep, grateful and heartfelt sigh...>

Freedom is a marvelous and costly word! And no, it isn't 'free'...

Because, for whatever reason (there are several logical possibilities), the video from the X Star stopped after less than 4 seconds without me realizing it, this doesn't show the long flight or my waltz. Tomorrow is another day! I didn't want to go back out and continue being eaten by gnats, and I didn't want to douse myself with DEET for the sake of 15 more minutes outside.

A DIY joose that I made nearly two years ago has finally steeped long enough for it to be really good. I've been enjoying it for the past few days.

    #40 20140925 2:30pm

    2ml FA Mandarin
    1.5ml FA Coffee Espresso
    1.5ml FA Butterscotch
20ml WL 100mg/ml nic in PG
    75ml 50/50 PG/VG

    Yield: 100ml, 5% flavoring, 20mg/ml nicotine, 60/40 PG/VG

Were you able to set them to different frequencies?
I could have tried to do that, but didn't. I flip-flopped the devices I was using for the first person view/flight data. It's a possibility that my smartphone was not fully compatible with the Phantom app (DJI Go), so I used my Nexus tablet with the Phantom and my smartphone with the X Star. The X Star uses an app called Starlink.

I also put my smartphone in "Airplane mode" which may or may not have been what solved the problem.

I am not the type who needs to know how things work inside and out before I try them. If I was, I'd never try anything.

Er, should have made more than just 100ml!

And I'd take that phone back, it's obviously not smart enough!

Actually, I did. I originally had double the amount of each flavoring, and it was WAY too strong, so I added 100ml of non-flavored nicotine base. For the sake of simplicity, I altered the percentages to show the final result rather than include my notes where I made the adjustment that resulted in 200ml of joose.
