www.myfreedomsmokes.com has a special going on that gets you a Pioneer iPVD3 80w box mod for $5 if you buy $75 worth of other stuff not including the box mod. I have no clue whether the TC mode/Wattage mode mod is any good.

When you add the box mod to your cart, and enter the coupon code 5BUCK3, a discount of $45 is applied against the $50 price of the mod.

You also get free shipping with the $75 purchase. I thought it was worthwhile to order a couple of Kanger Subtank Plus tanks and a couple 5-packs of Subtank pre-built coils in order to get the $5 mod. The stuff I ordered was stuff that I'll need eventually anyway.
kewl!!

Doree's mom passed away last night. All in all I believe it's a good thing but, of course, it is hard on her family. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and I am really thankful that we made it down here in time for Doree to say goodbye. Now the fun part begins. Arranging the memorial service and the finalizing the funeral home (vultures) want. Also writing the obituary. Nothing is simple theae days. I'll check back in later.

Thanks Kenna it's actually supposed to be clear here tonight. We leave tomorrow over the mountains to our friends place for another week. Supposed to be hot there. Ginnys reunion is Saturday supposed to be 95 there. It's 72 here with a nice cool breeze today. 32nd anniversary today, and they said it wouldn't last.

Well, I'm a little late, but couldn't let the opportunity to wish you and Ginny a very happy anniversary, Pat. It is very refreshing and heartwarming to know that the two of you have made it 32 years together. My bride and I will be celebrating our 17th later this month, and I can't believe that she's put up with me this long!! May the rest of your years together be filled with much happiness, joy, and love!

We arrived safely. Left Hampton ar 9AM and pulled into the driveway here at 11:50 PM. Even though we were exhausted we still didn't get to sleep until 3:30 or 4:00 this morning. Up around.11:30 AM. We went to see Doree's mom around 2. It's so sad.
She is just about withered away to nothing and staring off into space. The doctors say she could go at any time. I am glad we made it before she went so Doree had a chance to say goodbye.
I was talking to our neighbor this afternoon and both of us agreed that there should be a more humane way to deal with this kind of thing but, then you would have the azzhats that would just put someone down rather than do the right thing and take care of them. Maybe the Eskimo ice flow thing really was the right idea.
Thanks for your prayers everyone. I will keep you informed. Love you all.

Very happy to hear that y'all made it safely, Matt. Fifteen hours on the road... sheesh, I'm not sure I have it in me to do that anymore! Y'all try to get some rest when you can, and take care of Doree. I know that she's going to want to spend as much time as possible with her mom, and I'm glad that she has the opportunity to be there with her in the end. You're a good man, Matt. There aren't many like you left in the world these days. :) My prayers and love are still with y'all.

Guess I shoulda refreshed the page before I posted. I'm sorry, Matt. I feel the same way that you do, it's a good thing in the grand scheme, but even the knowledge that she is no longer suffering is small comfort to a grieving family. My deepest and most sincere condolences, my friend. All my best to you and Doree...

My sincere condolences to you @MattB101 and Doree. I am glad you got Doree there in time to say goodbye. Loosing one's Mother is one of the hardest people to loose. You have been there for Doree through thick and thin. I wish you and the family peace and healing. Godspeed to Doree's mother.

(((((((((Matt and Doree))))))))))))) I know it's a blessing she's no longer suffering, but it's still so difficult. As Iffy said, til y'all meet again. My most heartfelt condolences to you both, especially Doree.

Did I imagine it or did you say you'd driven the motor home down there? If so, I'm so glad. This may help you to be able to move quicker, just finish it up when you get home without having to deal with the RV til ya get moved.

{{{{{Doree & Matt}}}}} I'm sorry sorry for your loss. This is so hard to go through. All the preparations in the world cannot help when the actual time comes to say goodbye & let them go. I'm very glad you were able to get there in time. Take care of yourselves. We are praying!

    @CasketWeaver

Weaver, I'm interested in playing with Linux again in the near future. I have limited experience with the Ubuntu, Mint, and Puppy distros, but it's been quite a while since.

...should have some 'extra' time soon - my daughter is leaving for college this Friday, my son is gone from 7a to 7p on his new job (hour commute one-way, and he goes to the gym for an hour/day), my wife is often working overtime these days 'cause they are short-staffed in her office right now, and I've sworn off wasting any more time reading/viewing ANY news and current events on ALL devices - to include smartphone, tablet, laptop, and TV... period!

(I can see a bad case of 'empty nest syndrome' oncoming)

So - I plan to download the openSUSE ISO and burn it to a DVD or USB stick. My current laptop will boot from either one -or- I may eventually make a dual boot or VM on my Win7 laptop.

After seeing your post this morning, I've done a little research (very little so far), and have one question for ya: Is this the Distro I should DL? I don't yet understand the differences between all the variations, and plan to start the DL on one of my little-used home PCs when I leave for work one morning soon. TIA

Is it the distro for you? That depends - although I find SUSE much friendlier and "lighter" than the [REV]buntu line - I also understand that SUSE - like many other Linux distros out there - has it's problems. And with SUSE being one of the oldest distros out there, I keep returning to it. So why not try something else? Well I have tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Arch, Slackware, Mint, etc... and they were either too finnicky or just took too darn long to pull repos (a place to pull software from - also known as a repository) for. As for SUSE - get ready for a long download after dropping that disk in. You have millions upon millions of repos to choose from. And although SUSE is based on (and quite honestly centered on) SERVER operators - it JUST WORKS. No goofy workarounds, no bin / bash-ing through the console for weeks to install a simple app - you can if you want, just not my thing anymore - and once you get it up and running, you can go through YAST2 and install everything you want or need in one click. Granted certain things like that, people get offended by, but for me... I do both the console AND YAST - because my grammar and spelling has drastically declined over the past 5 years.

Have I used ARCH before? Hell yes! And if you are a tinkerer and like to "do-it-yourself", then ARCH might be right up your alley. So what distro is for you? Depends on the type of person you are. If you plan on using your machine for networking, server-type work - give Fedora a try. If you want something that just works right out of the box - try SUSE, if you want a "build your own", then try ARCH. Other distros, I won't even fart with anymore. They are either quirky, lack large repos to pull data from, or just have a community that is so small, they can't really help. ARCH's community is pretty good, you have to have some patience in working with those guys... but just like anything else, they also have a thorough wiki to read through. Fedora - same thing except the wiki is fairly vague - and in certain circumstances - obsolete. SUSE on the other hand - has the best of both worlds. A plethora of knowledge in their wiki, a community that ALSO has a plethora of knowledge at its disposal, and a vast number of repos from - I don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3 I mentioned. I went from SUSE to ARCH in a couple of months. And I love ARCH, but because things have changed in the LINUX world, I defauly back to SUSE every time to relearn the basics of LINUX.

@Kenna - I'm always gentle. I don't cause folks to spontaneously combust by using the brainpower on them. Nope - not me. However, if people think I wont spank their behinds with common sense when they act up... that is within my nature. I am - for all intents and purposes - a gentle giant.

@MattB101 - My condolences for you guys' recent loss.

Sorry to hear that, Matt. As you say, given her condition, likely best for all, but still hard to go through. And yes, VERY good that you got there in time!

Not yet. We are bringing with us but we suspended moving ops and just dropped everything and drove down. Probably only be here for a couple of weeks and then back to Virginia to wrap everything up. One of the good things about this trip is we brought both cars with us and will be leaving Doree's down here when we leave. That way we can all travel in the motorhome a dn tow my car on a dolly. The original plan was to have me drive the motorhome with the dog, tow my car and have Doree drive hers with the cat. Now we all get to travel together.
