She has been taking her to the vet every week and the combo that finally worked was 100mg of prednisone plus an immune suppressent. She is now talking and sassy and can walk good everything is getting back to normal. They have cut her to 30mg of prednisone every other day and the suppressant every other day. It has cost her a lot but she wanted to get her fixed up she is only 8 and it is finally working. One of the drugs is $160 a month plus the prednisone and all the vet visits but she has really been taking good care of her and she is almost completely back to the old Vick.
Oh poor puppy! I didn't even realize dogs could get lupus. Soooo glad that they found something to help her, and she's back to feeling like herself again!

Hubby just found out that residential electricity will probably not be restored until Tuesday at the earliest. There are over 70,000 people without in my county. They are first reconnecting government and commercial electricity.
We had planned to get a generator in November when Hubby would be getting his work discount but of course he is bringing one home today & we'll set it up temporarily to hook up the fridge microwave and TV/internet.
Our county was declared a disaster area so we'll get at least some of the money the generator will cost back from FEMA.
Between the generators and chainsaws running in the neighborhood it sounds like a construction site.
We're not complaining though. We are among the lucky ones. Many people around here lost a lot more than electricity.
oh wow.......so glad y'all are able to get a generator, but so sorry you'll be without power for so long. Hope the temps don't go sky high cuz the humidity will be bad enough to deal with.

we can and do close it at night........except i went to bed first so it was my husbands job to do..........he didn't and it was funny when he realized this was avoidable.
lol sounds like my son and dil. I always stay up later, and am forever finding that they've gone to bed and left the doors unlocked.

Was sooooo great to get to meet and visit with Kad for a bit!! What a doll! I'd talked to him once on the phone, but there's nuttin like meetin folks in person.

when you talk to him.........thank him for his service from me, and I know many others here will echo that as well. We have a lot of vets on the porches. My son spent 8 yrs 04-12 in the Army. Had one tour to Iraq, and had orders for Afghanistan. He was in the middle of pre-deployment med checks etc, when they found he needed a surgery done and wouldn't be deploying. He was part of a 4 man team, and two weeks after the team got there, one of them was killed by I.E.D. my son would most likely have been with him if he'd deployed.

my son was part of small team like yours,, he would be 'out' for weeks at a time.. he has many stories,, many sad,, some 'ok'.. he is my only child,, so i could not even watch the news for years for fear of seeing him hurt on the news.... he called 1 summer day and ask how it was going.. i go off on this long tangent about the heat/humidity.....he says 'Mom,, Mom,, its 120*,, and i stole a govt sat phone to call you on top of a roof where a sniper can get me........................dang if that wasnt a wake up call to getting your priorities straight.
(thank you,, and thank you to your son as well)

Ahh Fort Lostinthewoods, MO got stationed there twice what a lovely spot. Especially Waynesville. Most places were off limits especially the Trailer Parks. Me and a friend drove through one and almost couldn't get out the car was swarmed by black gals trying to make a few bucks.

I can only imagine. My only child too. He's told me a few stories, but doesn't talk much about it to anyone. There were a few I was able to help him through though.

Ahh Fort Lostinthewoods,
Jup!

i used the wd-40 on my chair,, thinking about using it on his seat when he gets up :D
lmao! Just don't spray it on his head or my fryin pan will slide right off when I whack him. And if he and a couple others don't get a good whackin once in awhile they start to feel like I don't love em anymore. :D

I get no respekt.

I don't know if you remember me telling you guys about my grandaughters dog that has Lupus well they finally found a combo that works for her I'm going to post some pics of it at it's worst and yesterday. It's actually his dog and it didn't look good but she wanted to keep working on it so she would be there when he gets home from Kuwait. Here is some before.

It affected her ears, nose, mouth, and the pads of her feet. She could barely walk it hurt her so bad. She was a real talker and hadn't done any of her dog talk for almost 3 months. This was her yesterday.
