Question for the cooks in the group...

I am looking at finally giving in and upgrading my wifes microwave oven - the one we are using now is about 40 years old - not broke, but obviously on its last leg. My question is -

I have been looking and reviewing the Convection Microwaves. Anyone have one and how do they like it?? It is one thing to read a review on the internet - it is another to get one from some one you trust... How well do they hold up also?

Can't say much about em, Semi. But I looked at em myself in the past. PRICEY as compared to a regular one. And I figgered I'd probably use it just as a regular MW 99.9% of the time anyway. So never pulled the trigger on one. Would be interested in what some folks say tho.

I found an LG model $450 originally - now on sale for $250 (open box - display model with no box and no books (who cares - you can get the book off the internet).

I have a microwave/convection oven in my motorhome. Rarely do I ever use my regular oven. The convection oven gets used often and I do not know how I lived without one.

Mine cooks faster and reduces the amount of heat inside the camper. Also, I can put a larger amount/size dish in it without the worry of burning one side. I also cook more than one item at a time and this does not seem to have an effect on any one item.

Reheated food seems better, even pizza crust!

That sounds like a good deal. If you end up not using the convection function you aren't out anything. Generally convection microwaves are higher end microwaves in their own right.

Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime. I can't wait for summertime!

Sounds great - well I guess what I will be doing tomorrow morning - picking up a microwave...

Never used one......I always had cheap microwaves just for warming stuff up. Never did like anything cooked in one. But SIL has a convection oven, and that thing is wonderful!

Just making sure you see that Roly added to the Change Announcement :

It's about PMs that you have saved in folders

Beautiful photo Mike! Glad you got away to the great outdoors! How is Janet doing today?

I got a new tablet for my trip. Anybody have a Bible for Android you can read offline?

Check Amazon. You can download the free Kindle for Android app there & see if they have The Bible free on Amazon to download. I think MAYBE you can read offline.

I really don't intend to go nutso with it. Some unflavored, and some GAP are my plans for right now. If my son is there, he can help me double check my math and measurements. He's used to doing that. I said something the other day about not being good at doing things real precise, and he said......well you did when you were stamping. I reminded him that whenever it had to be super precise, I had him help me figure it out. lol

There are a few states that require permits and or is not allowed. Some states actually support it and offer guidance on how to do it right. No real federal law on it... Yet...

Permit = give me money. For no real reason except to... give me money. Sounds like where they're going with vaping. Easy money. For no apparent reason.

Don't know much about convection/microwaves but if you can choose using it either way I'd say go for it at that price. You'd spend that much on a microwave anyway so you'd have the best of both worlds. I'd be interested in what you think of it. I only use my mw for heating things up but I hear convection ovens are more like a regular oven only much faster. Sounds pretty convenient to me since I sometimes run into needing 2 ovens with different temps.
