Everybody. After my quick visit with Deb I think we need to schedule a time when we can all get together for a virtual cocktail together. What say an evening (tomorrow night early) or maybe Saturday afternoon. I used my tablet and it worked fine so high end computers are not required. What say you?

OK! It's hot outside, humid too... Maybe I can wait for summertime!

Oops, just getting back here. We had a funeral to go to an hour away and then had to get back here to watch Miles. Been busy around here after that and then treated myself to mint chocolate gelatin for dinner (the sandwich followed about an hour later because I felt guilty) Anyway, just got caught up here and I'm almost too tired to reply. Didn't want to wait till tomorrow though.

Cool beans! Are staying with SIL or moving in with son. After all you supported him for at least 18 years so he owes you now. Only kidding but I did tell Tori that she's taking care of Doree and I in our old age.

Ha! I used to tell my kids they better study hard and get a good job because they were gonna have to take care of me when I'm old and decrepit. They thought I was kidding. I worked with a guy once who said when the last kid moved out he was getting a new kitchen set with only 2 chairs for him and his wife. (actually he was a total softie and lives for his kids!) Our kids don't live close enough to take care of us so I guess we'll just have to keep going till they get old...

Speaking of kids, yep, we had our precious little grandson today. He's so close to rolling over and he's so happy to see us. He's trying to make vocal sounds so it seems like he's having a conversation with us. It's so interesting to watch the changes he's going through.

Don't know if either of these pictures will post. If not I'll shrink 'em and post again. The pics were sent by my brother to his fambly after completion of the restoration work 4 years ago. I don't know if he's gotten any more clocks done since that time... I think I maybe saw another when I was there at his house for Christmas.

The wall clock was made by the Ithaca Clock Company in 1869 and was the 257th clock ever made by the company. At the time the company was only 3 years old and the factory was producing 5 clocks per day. The other clock is a Tiffany clock.. I don't know whether that's a brand name or a style.

In case anyone is interested...this was posted by xtwosm0kesx

This thread probably belongs in the Vets forum, but i posted it here so it will have wider visibility.

I continually notice that there are a lot of ECF 'Veterans' still sporting a 'blue name' when you have earned the 'dark maroon(?)' colored name, via your year+ activity on ECF.

I'm sure many just don't care, but others may not know how to change it, since the process is not automatic.

For those who wish to change it (and didn't know how) here's the steps to change it:

1) Click on "Settings" in the upper right corner.
2) Scroll down to the middle left side where you will find the 'My Settings' area, under the 'My Account' subheading, click 'Permission Groups'.
3) Select 'Identify me as a member of this group' on the ECF Veteran entry.
4) Click 'Update display group'.
5) Enjoy your super snazzy new color!
You've earned the designation as an ECF Veteran, now show the forum your true colors!

I wouldn't sweat that one until after the changeover. For all we know Paisley may then be an option.

Or color-status indications may not exist.

Thanks, Kenna. I just realized there was no way to perceive the size of the clocks. The Tiffany clock is only about 12-15 inches tall but the Ithaca Calendar clock is a good 3 feet tall. Here it is at the top of a landing.

Well hey there Unc, I was just thinkin' 'bout ya and that you may appreciate our enthusiasm over my hubby's recent acquisition. He recently ran up on a bargain on a pair of vintage ESS AMT 1A speakers, just had to replace some foam in them. Got them up and running and WOW! We've listened to everything from Metallica to Donna Summer on them and the sound quality is just mind blowing, crankin' em up to damn near concert level and you can pick out every little lick of percussion with absolutely no distortion. Me thinks the neighbors are really gonna hate us now.....:D

Sigh... With the current generation or two thinking music is teeny tiny things you stick in your ears to listen to grossly compressed MP3's - they have no idea what they are missing.

Sure it's 2:45 am, but if I didn't stay up I wouldn't have been able to roast 3 heads of garlic. Yum that's good. I spread it warm from the oven on thin slices of French bread. Now I can go to sleep. (Yes, there's some left but I ate about 10 cloves.)

yummmmmmmm

Can drop box be used for posting pics to the threads.

If it provides links for images it should work with both the old and new software. I signed up for Drop Box but never really looked into it much.

BTW: If I may be so pushy, don't you 'owe' us a medical update? Everything ok?

No vampires or werewolves for Bb tonight. Maybe not for the next week! But I must agree, fresh warm roasted garlic on bread is YUMMY!

Willie!!!!

So glad you popped in. Great music! Missed you. See that, you jump right in and you and Jeff have a whole "event" with Deb and she wasn't even here till it was all over. You guys are so funny.

I was afraid you were going to come back and not know about the change over and be lost. You'd have a lot of people running around trying to track you down!

We're going to have a busy week this coming week. Could be watching Miles any or all of Tues/Wed/Thurs and Friday thru the weekend I may be helping a friend load up a POD to prepare for selling her house. She'll be staying with us because she has to have surgery on the following Monday (4th) so she'll recuperate here until she's well enough to drive to MA where she plans to settle. Then, our daughter is coming for a visit on Friday the 8th so we'll have a full house. It will be fun though.

Sheesh, went to bed after I wrote the above and then got up this morning and had some running around to do. Just sat down and opened up the computer and realized I never hit post so it never got sent. I'm loosing it or was just too tired to think straight.

Our local legislator arranged a "shredding" day today and they also had police there who would dispose of old medications. So, I hightailed it on over there and dropped off our stuff. I had a bunch of heavy duty meds that were my brother's here that we had no idea how to get rid of. Done!

Made my first batch of hummingbird nectar today and put it out for any early arrivals. Hopefully we'll get more than 1 pair this year.

Gorgeous day here. Going up to 78 and the sun is shining bright. It's so nice to be able to open the doors and windows!
