We have finally gotten this place looking the way I've always wanted it and I hate leaving it when I have no firm plan.

Hey, if it will make you feel any better - for the last few years I have been remodeling two homes that I do not plan to live in either - one was not liveable in the beginning and the other I never finished the whole time I did live in it - so I am finishing it for the next owner... (LOL)...

But it has kept retirement from getting boring. (LOL)... And we have been doing it all at our pace and as money has come available. I am just lucky that I have been able to do about 80% of the work myself...

A girl in our parish was in an accident, head injuries, and today her heart stopped-- they had trouble bringing her back. They are talking about organ donation. All your prayers are appreciated.

Sorry to hear that, but I will have her added to our prayer board...

Just peeping in to say "Hello". I'm so far behind that I've had to mark everything read. I'll never catch up. With no internet access at work, and only a limited time to get here after work, I just haven't been around. It's been monsooning down here like no tomorrow, so not a lot of flight going on. I forgot my books at home, BUT, I have been coloring. As for the new forum...............I'll have to learn all of this stuff when I get home. I just don't have the time to do it now. One more night, and I'm going home. I'm tired from doing nothing. Hope to see y'all later!!
((((Hugs)))) Roto! You must be miserable, no internet & storm robbing you of the distraction of work. I'd be nuts! Get your rest, get home & start reading! this isnt that different from the old forum. The basics are the same.

Evening, folks........I'm so confused I don't even know what I'm confused about......now, that's bad!

...just stopped in, to see what condition my condition was in...

Almost my plan exactly. Moving into the MIL house and then looking for our final landing spot. Going to rebuild or build (depending if it's a vacant lot or a foreclosure house) the final house then fix up and sell the MIL house. If I can do it I that order. If Medicaid comes through then we can live at mom's place u til ours is done. If we don't get her on Medicaid soon then Doree and I will have to buy Mom's house so the estate can afford to keep her in the home until they do. In that case I'm not sure we will be able to afford to buy a second house for us to remodel and retire into and will end up living in mom's townhouse possibly forever.
Sorry to unload but that's one of my main worries. We have finally gotten this place looking the way I've always wanted it and I hate leaving it when I have no firm plan.

Sounds like you've made plans and are aware of potential snags, and have contingencies also planned, as well as can be done with things of this nature. That's the best any of us mere mortals can do.

On their way!

Had to post a final photo of the end result in the kitchen. Doree did most of the tiling and grouting and it looks marvelous. I am very proud of her. The kitchen looks great. I sure hope it helps the place sell fast. Got the deck refinishing done as well and will post a pic as soon as I can take one. It's a little dark out for photos right now.

Grout is finished and sealed and I have all the outlets and stuff done as well as the new range hood installed. Thanks for the moral support guys. I really appreciate the shoulders to lean on. Overall other than painting the walls the kitchen is El finito!

Polyester? I got married in 1971 wearing a black Nuke Disco tee shirt and bluejeans complete with chain belt and engineers boots. The old lady, as I called her, all of 18 years old was wearing a short jean skirt topped with a black Harley lace tank top, knee high boots and black stockings. Just so you know, our four month old daughter was present along with several bikers for witness. The JP was also a biker that did all the weddings for the local biker community then played in the band for the drunken reception that most did not even remember attending the next day.

My father let me ride to our honeymoon on his old panhead and later in the week presented it to me as a wedding gift. I rode that bike on and off until 1999 when I traded it to the local Harley dealer for a new Night Train. The dealer had minor work and a new paint job put on it and used it for a display until he died and the door were closed a couple years ago. Sure wish I could find out what happened to that bike. It lasted a lot longer than the marriage.

Sounds like you might be able to take a break soon...
Yeh Semi, I sure hope so. Tomorrow is sealing the tile and grout in the shower and as soon as it dries (2 or 3 hours) I'm installing a recessed ceiling fixture (rated for showers) tied into a new ceiling exhaust fan. That way it comes on when the fan is on. After that I need to finish a couple of spots on the floor and the hallway (small) at the top of the stairs. After that it's load the POD with most of what we own so we can paint and recarpet the 3 bedrooms then, we will be DONE! Moving time!! Probably mid-July.
