My sister had a dog named bandit that they couldn't do a thing with. I visited once a month, since I was only 2.5 hours away, and never had any problems with her. She would walk to heel without a leash, fetch, etc... Even for them when I was there.
One time I left one of my shirts behind, and she appropriated it for her bed. They didn't have any issues until 6 months later when Bandit disappeared for 2 weeks, and came back home having eaten a plastic bag that tied up her guts. No operation possible, they had to put her to sleep. When they buried her in the back yard, I insisted that they nest her in my shirt. I still get sad thinking about her.

I had a dog from 12-18 that I could still cry about if I dwelt on it for long. I loved that dog so much.
We were like best friends.

Commentary on Chickens .. Nasty Creatures and Sometimes just Flat out Mean .. Great if you're Doing the Chicken Dance .. they eat, they poop (and as with Birds in general, it's #1 and #2 at the same time due to digestive tract) .. they strut around like they own the place .. If I want an egg, I'll buy some .. Sorry Matt, you're my Brother From Another Mother, but sometimes it's just time for an intervention .. you want a Yard Bird .. ?? Get a Peacock .. they look great and are quite mellow ..
Might actually do that. Anything but a parrot, my FIL had one. Noisiest damn thing I ever saw. Peacocks can be too. The have that loud call. We had some running around the neighborhood when I was a kid.

Reasonably good. Kind of herky, jerky (technical term). Works okay, the better the bandwidth the better the video. I've been having connection problems with it just disconnecting for no reason every once in a while. I turn off WiFi on my tablet and then turn it back on, forcing DHCP to assign another IP address and it works for a while.

At my workshop, due to the location, I am limited to 3Mbps DSL .. while audio would be OK, video would be highly compressed and jerky .. I do get a watchable Netflix feed, but it's never better than 480i .. I do not use WiFi unless it's a portable device / phone, everything is CAT5 / CAT6 .. the DSL line is dedicated and not shared .. it goes straight to the main provider router ..

And, I'm assuming that as each person joins, a new screen is opened on the main screen .. ??

Jup..... peacocks are very noisy!! But so pretty. Their call is nice if they live far enough away to not drive ya nuts! My sister had one at her farm, but it wasn't right up by the house.

Just tape the beak shut .. :) .. or you know, they declaw cats .. get it de-tongued ..

not a new screen, but you'll see everyone at the bottom in small boxes. Then as each person speaks, they'll pop up to the main screen. Or, you can click on one person to keep them on the main screen, then click again on that person and it goes back to rotating. Also, if someone is trying to show something, like a new atty or whatever, they can "present to everyone" and it will stay on them as long as they are presenting. so that if someone else says.....oh kewl.......it won't go to the person that said oh kewl.

You know how that works around here Fran: I'll believe it if/when it actually happens. New England weather forecasts are sorta like political campaign promises - you usually don't get what they say you are gonna get.

Hay! My quit banner thingee down there finally updated. First time it's changed the numbers since I put it up last Saturday.
Rick I quit using that banner because it wasn't changing. Right now I'm using the one available here on ECF but I don't really like it. It doesn't show dollars saved and I am literally up near 20 grand so I wanna brag about it.

I'm only getting around 1 1/2 acres. Probably not enough land for Peacocks. Of course I could let them roam the neighborhood. "Peacocks, what Peacocks? How did they get here... Must of got away from somebody. Guess you'll just have to feed em, after all can't let em starve. " :rickroll:

I'm thinking of keeping 3 or 4 chickens when we get out to the country. A lot of cities these days allow chickens, at least around here (Virginia). Down in South Florida I'm not sure so I'll have to wait until we get down there.
My big question is what the heck I do with all the eggs, even 4 chickens will overload me with eggs pretty quickly. Do all hens lay daily? I don't really know. I want eggs but will end up giving some of them away.

With four chickens you'd average about three eggs a day. We usually had about 10-12 at a time, so I made custard (so much better with really fresh eggs), baked with them, made noodles (good storage technique for eggs), vegetable timbales (basically custard again, but savory, not sweet) and so on.

When we lived near the cities where my daughter had an all natural cleaning service we also sold some to her clients, for what I thought were outrageous prices but which were apparently low compared to the co-ops.

It depends a lot on the breed of chicken, too. I mostly had Buff Orpingtons, which are a large and very mellow breed. But no, they're not for everyone. Way more work than most people think, and the eggs are actually outrageously costly all things considered. But genuine fresh eggs from free range birds are so much better than any store bought. The texture and flavor are just completely different.

I had DSL for a while. It kind of sucks. Finally got cable Internet and am getting 50mbps. I can watch anything in HD on both upstairs and downstairs TV. Different programs.

Matt, generate your own banner and say "I have saved 20 g's since I stopped smoking...neener, neener...and I'm going to Disney World."

Another chicken question. What makes them lay eggs? Do they need to have a rooster hanging around to "put em in the mood", not necessarily to fertilize them, don't want that of course. I wouldn't think that they would just lay eggs to be laying eggs, after all cows don't just give milk for the sheer fun of it. The have a calf that's then taken away and they lactate for a couple of years as long as they are milked then they rinse and repeat.
