Good Sunday morning, Porchers

Another busy day ahead, and starting to feel tired, but maybe I'll 'come to' after my 3rd cup of java!

Sorry no personals this morning, but am outside sitting on the lanai w/my tablet using touchscreen!

I'm really hoping to get into H/O tonight if I don't fall asleep too early!

Hope your day is as pleasant as possible. :)
Hopefully I'll see you there. It's been the same with me lately. Been listening to my body and when I start the yawning I've been going to bed. Find if I miss the call it's another up all night deal. Missed it last night and ended up until 4am. Ooops!

Ever consider a pressure washer?
That is how I got it clean... unfortunately, it does not kill the mold, just cleans it off so it can grow again... even under a sealer. So... nice industrial bleach, kill the mold, THEN I will do a seal.

I've been thinking about getting into Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Worried about how much coding I would have to do/learn. I don't know much (nothing) about programming and such but, am really interested in "smart home" stuff. Arduino looks like a good way to get what I want exactly without buying into some system that may not be around once the shakeout amongst smart home systems is over. Your thoughts? Thanks
This is a learning kit. so far, I've made the lights blink back and forth, then the second lesson lets you learn how to code for running lights like knight rider or a cylon. the kickstarter is over, but you can still get kits at DuinoKit

Can't use the bleach IN the pressure washer? (using goggles or a facsimile thereof, of course) Pretty sure there's a ton of chemicals n' stuff just for that purpose.

After spending a few hundred on "chemicals n' stuff", I'm going old school this time.
Spray antibacterial industrial bleach... And let it sit there and kill anything living.
I'm not even diluting it. One 1 gal jug is supposed to make 4 gallons of outdoor bleach... I got 4 gallons @ $2.99 each and I think the third one will be the last I will need.
Less than $10 and I can go at my own pace.
I just spray a section each day in the morning, and let the sun dry it in. Even if it rains in the afternoon, it's done its job.
It took two very long days to pressure wash the black off..

If that don't kill it - nothing will. It does not make sense that it comes back that easily - unless something is occurring in the vicinity that is recreating it.

Like a heavily used underchlorinated pool?

I don't think even that would do it. I'm one of the worst at pool maintenance and I don't have mold. The suns UV keeps it in check. Requirements are pretty much a damp, shady place and usually a food source. Food isn't what you may think, could be suntan lotion, food drippings or even stuff carried up onto the concrete from the ground around it, soil etc. by the rain and pool water.

Heh... Being under a canopy of screen (we call it a birdcage) and having lots of mature trees nearby is enough, I think.
But let's add that the back gets morning sun to the mix. :)
You are thinking the same way I am on the "if that don't kill it..."
Honestly... It was a year ago when I did the front walk, and we are not "allowed" to seal THAT. And it didn't start getting dark again until the recient rains.... I'm thinking of doing one or two squares of it at a time, and putting out traffic cones that bleach has been used. Probably won't have to worry about it for another couple of years then. :)

I like my grass. I just spent a LOT of money getting my dead grass (crab grass) replaced with sod. But I have a screened in pool deck, with a sidewalk from there to the second bath. The door on the other side of the screen has a little 4x4 "patio", so I have a very small yard area on one side.. About 10' wide
A 5' strip on the other side, and a 3.5' strip along the back fence... Due to the fence, trees and screened in area, grass has a hard time but I keep trying.

Don't take the bet Semi.... You would lose!
:D
Although, I planted 4 different varieties in the 6' stretch... Some of them seem to be starting to cover that area, so not as much mud when it rains.
I don't even remember all the different types I used back there !
